Went in for back pain that I have had for over 3 week and was basically given over the counter medication which I was already taking. I felt like the person I seen did not even take the time to listen to what I was saying. I was very disappointed with the person who saw me.

Working with Kara Heugly Counseling, and especially with Stella Gutierrez, has been a profoundly healing experience for me as a survivor. Stella holds space with such steadiness, compassion, and respect. She listens not just with her ears, but with her heart. In moments when my story felt heavy, tangled, or hard to say out loud, she met me with patience and safety. She never rushed my healing or minimized my pain. Instead, she reminded me gently, consistently that my voice matters and my healing is my own. If you are a survivor looking for a therapist who truly understands trauma, resilience, and the courage it takes to keep showing up, I cannot recommend Stella enough. This office is a place where broken pieces are treated with care, dignity, and deep humanity.

I’ve been at this house for 2 years. Absolutely love it! This place has been a blessing and has helped me tremendously! Neighborhood is quiet! I did all my treatment at Next Level Recovery. They have helped me in more ways than I could imagine. Mike and his wife are amazing people and are willing to help anyone. Meredith also does so much for all the houses, I honestly don’t know how she does it. But she does an amazing job. Ive came a long ways in my recovery and honestly couldn’t have done it without Next Level & Sober Living Properties. Forever grateful and blessed. This program and stability saved my life!

I’ve been a patient here for a while, and while it’s improved from its chaotic past, there are still some serious quirks. They’ve made positive changes recently, and most of the staff is professional. The best therapists are excellent—Talisha Bracken, for instance, is a standout who goes the extra mile—but they’re usually booked. If you don’t get someone like her, you might end up with a dud, like this one they won’t let go who doesn’t even know what ‘gaslighting’ means. Worse, some therapists here lean so heavily into their religion that they can’t see your perspective or understand basic psychology—they don’t believe people out there can do real harm, like gaslighting or worse, which is alarming. They’re now offering modern treatments like ketamine therapy, which is a plus, but to my knowledge, they still haven’t hired a full-time psychologist to manage certain medications some patients need, regardless of the company’s biases or beliefs—that’s a lingering gap. The front desk has an entitled staff member who handles patient evaluation scheduling and has always gossiped about patients and their families, which is unacceptable. It’s forbidden for any staff to speak openly about patients, no matter the circumstance, let alone the front desk, yet it still happens. Another ridiculous practice: if you don’t click with a therapist, you have to explain why to the manager and hope they agree to switch you. I’ve lived in cities where they let you change therapists without explanation—because you shouldn’t have to justify it—and I’ve never heard of anything as absurd as this. It’s better than it used to be, but these issues really drag it down.

I attended Provo Canyon School For Boys in 1977 for one year. Like John G, in the reviews, I too was on the wrong track. Jack the owner was a pompous jack ass but the school and for the most part the teachers and councilors were doing their best. Most graduates of BYU and Mormons. As a 16 year old with no clear idea of life and definitely any idea of what or how to move forward and be a productive person. The school taught me how to set goals and gave me the confidence to take control of my life and learn that I could be productive and enjoy life by developing self discipline and how important and rewarding life could and should be. Nothing is perfect and I had my reservations at times especially with Jack but I learned how to deal with it and by being in a structured environment I grew up and became a more productive and responsible adult. Thank you mom and dad for loving me and I am thankful for the opportunity of being privileged to go here and finding myself. I hope and pray other boys will have the same benefit I did. Provo taught me how to set goals and above all else, like myself and develop a positive self concept. Get the best from opportunities, you weren't doing anything else anyway. :)

I called yesterday trying to get more information about some group therapy classes. The person that answered was very rude, from the start. Once she found out I was not an active client she immediately ended the conversation, there was no suggestions for further steps, or other resources I could look into. Extremely rude and unprofessional, especially for a mental health clinic.

The first time I saw them 8 years ago it was great and everyone was happy to help. I don't know what has happened since then but it's like falling into a black hole they just all forget about you they don't even try it seems they don't return your calls or if you go there yourself they tell you to sit down and the last you hear from them , I really don't know what has happened to them?it's just really sad.

Terrible, do not come here. They just want your money. They were hostile, rude, and demeaning. A very unfriendly and unpleasant environment. Convinced me how broken I was, just to pay for so many additional treatments from them. Made me feel so much worse and I did not feel listened to at all. Just my experience, maybe you’d have a better one.

My daughter was there one day I'm the out patient care center and refuses to go back. She says the nurse and doctor were fine, but the teacher was not nice and actually made you feel on edge the entire time. She started crying when i picked her up. My daughter didn't feel safe with the teacher. And when you call, it's really hard to get a person to talk to.

Unless you are a patient coming from the State Hospital, or possibly about to go into the State Hospital, don’t waste your time talking to IRT or getting on their “wait list.” It’s non-existent unless you’re coming out of the State Hospital, so you’re being fed a line to get you off the phone. You are not being considered for care and they aren’t listening to understand, they are listening to decide how best to say “no” so you can understand why you’re not a good candidate. I believe they are probably nice people, but they aren’t set up for you unless you’re coming out of the State Hospital.

From the moment I walked in the front desk ladies were very polite and courteous. Dr Tania and the nurse helping her were amazing. Dr Tania was very concerned and knowledgeable of what was going on with me. She went beyond! Thank you! Cost for me to use them and pharmacy was a total shock to me. I thought would be paying over $100 for everything nope not even the case. I love this place and I would recommend anyone and everyone to come here.

I'm with Valley North the one downtown in Utah and I'm not getting the help I need with my Suboxone, something's not right with my script. I know how it's supposed to help me feel and I think it's a bad brand that Mike has me on. It took me ten years of kratom abuse and fentanyl abuse to finally get 3 references in LDS hospital to send to Mike APRN. And my strips aren't making me feel better I feel like it's a bad brand it only has an 8 on it instead of N/8 and I'm contemplating taking a large amount of my money to buy blue fentanyl pills and just support myself my own way.

Not sure why my review from a while back was deleted. My daughter was there from approximately February 2021 to February 2022. Horrible place, don’t do what they say, lacking in therapy, school courses are a joke, girls clean most of the day (helps keep the overhead costs down I guess), they never took them to activities parents paid extra for and Russ Pryor refused to provide a refund. It’s all about the money for them. I felt so incredibly sorry for the horses too. Zero shelter at all, not even a single tree or shed despite the bitter cold winters and blazing hot summers. Out in the blistering sun 24/7/365y. No grass in the corral. The poor cat who hung around had worms coming out of his rear all the time. Just awful place bought out by private equity that sees your child as a widget or a number.

I recently had a psychiatry intake appointment with Dave Lind. I’ve seen other psychiatrists before, but Dave was the first who I felt like gathered a detailed picture of my overall health, not just my mental health history. He really listened, asked purposeful questions, and addressed my concerns. I appreciated his knowledge and holistic approach to wellness. He took the time to explain why I might be experiencing certain symptoms and offered insight as to things that might help me, in addition to the medication. I came out of my appointment feeling hopeful. I’m very happy to have found a provider who I feel I can trust!

Notes By Me

I was nervous about enrolling my daughter in Reach Counseling’s teenage IOP program because the time commitment felt overwhelming, but it ended up being one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. After struggling with impulsivity, suicidal thoughts, and trauma, and feeling like nothing else was helping, this program truly changed my daughters life. Holli and the team at Reach Counseling showed so much compassion and care for both my daughter and our family. We finally felt supported and hopeful again. I can’t recommend them enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Utah?
When comparing providers in Utah, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Utah?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Utah?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Utah providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Utah providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
