Don’t go here if you value your time! I spent about two hours here to get prescribed drops for pink eye. After walking to the HEB a couple blocks away to pick up my prescription, I learn that it has not been called in. Upon calling the clinic, I am told that prescriptions are not called in until the end of the day. I do not live in this town, and was stopping by on my way out of town. I am currently out four hours, and still waiting for my prescription to be called in. For what it’s worth, you can drive to Minute Clinic in San Antonio get your prescription filled and be back into Carrizo Springs in less time than I have currently waited. That said, the staff was awesome, and very nice!

Our child was admitted for SI and self harm. Communication was fantastic. The staff talked us through all of the forms. Waiting took a long time but staff kept us updated as to when they were with getting him in. They brought us food and made sure we did not need anything while waiting. Communication started as soon as that evening after his admission with the nurse calling to let us know how he was doing. His therapist stayed in constant communication with us and kept us informed of how he was doing. His therapist helped us to identify another program that would benefit him more long term. I can’t say enough good things about Kaitlyn his therapist. Our child was allowed to make calls to us and we were able to call him. We felt that our child was safe during his stay at Laurel Ridge. We have been to several facilities over the last year with the same child and this was a great experience. As hard as it is to admit a child in need, I would recommend this facility to families with children in need of this high level of care.

I did not like being forced into doing something I did not want to do and this lady was trying to force me into a consultation I was not ready for. I did not want to psychologist I wanted a psychiatrist and I can't find one to save my soul that takes my insurance and because I have filed for disability so I don't care for this place or any other place I've tried.

I am currently here for PHP and IOP...I'll put it plainly, these ladies saved my life. The group, the therapists....it's been a great experience. Obviously, therapy is what YOU make it so if you're not feeling the process you will not thrive here. But if you're feeling down and you need help...you will find it here. If you're reading this review and you're at the end of your rope, here is your sign to reach out. It's time!

I had a family member there recently who really was in a bad mental state. She was a lot to handle at home and really worked the staff there. I just have to say the nurse Wendy on 2B was amazing! Whenever we called for updates, she was always so kind and kept us informed. When I went to visit my loved one, I saw Wendy sitting and talking with her even in the middle of her psychosis. If there were more nurses like Wendy, having to send someone to these facilities wouldn't be so nerve-wracking. And the tech (I think Christie was her name) gave such great care as well. I really hope the hospital values such great staff members as these two.

I just got out of here on Sunday. This place is absolute hell. I have now be traumatized even more than already was. They make you strip until you have nothing. Didn’t give me my clothes for 2 DAYS, so I was in paper scrubs for 2 days while on my period. and no meds for 2 days also and I was begging them to get me something because I was seriously not doing well.. On a co-ed unit that scared me intensely. They messed up my medication doses and didn’t change them & also made an appointment with my OLD psychiatrist, without telling me, that I don’t see anymore. When I put my new one on the paperwork, and they know. Never AGAIN. Go to Houston or Dallas if possible. You deserve true healing.

Come see for yourself because we all have our own opinion; not everyone experiences the same… These are great doctors. They have treated me with respect, and even when I was upset, they were professional and understanding. They will help you as much as they can. The caseworker is awesome. I appreciate his honesty and his support, as he will always give me great advice and hope. Prescriptions are given quickly when needed as soon as possible. They will work with your work schedule as well. I'm assuming the bad reviews are from those who didn’t give this place a chance or someone who had one bad experience. I have been with Tropical for 7 years now. I know it was a bit much for me at the beginning, but give it a chance; you’ll learn to grow as you seek the help you need. You’ll get to see how much these doctors do care, and they are doing their best to help you. Of course, like all hospitals and offices, it will be busy, and that’s not their fault, and they can only do so much, so I say come by and see for yourself if you're experiencing mental health issues. My doctor is nice; he cared for my sickness and had someone check my stomach. My psychiatrist is nice. I recommend anyone. Don’t listen to these bad comments; trust me. Seek your own opinion. I honestly don’t understand what these people want from a behavioral health facility. When they do all they can, everyone gets busy, and when they don’t answer your call, big deal; call them back. I’ve read these ridiculously bad comments.

I do not even know where to begin. This facility is not up to par. The communication is atrocious. I read many reviews before putting my child here. Some were good, some were bad. The bad came true real quick. My child is high functioning Autistic, ADHD and a mood disorder, we picked Meridell because they pride themselves on specializing in kids on the spectrum. During our stay, we had several complaints from our child that staff mocked him on the daily. That they allowed other "peers" to antagonize my child to get him worked up, then make it like my child was the aggressor.

this is the worst clinic in the state. they don't keep scheduled opointments. they will cancel your apointments over another patient "crisis" then blame you for the cancel apointment evan tho you were there for it. And refuse reschedule you base on your avilbilty. Apointment avilabilty is base on insurance . if you have state insurance ( a clinic card ) you will most likly not be treated/helped.

My daughter spent 110 days at EDS. She was released today and I do not feel like she has made 110 days worth of progress. The communication between the facility and families is non-existent. Throughout the time she was there, we ask over and over for information on how to help my child when she left, what the timeline was for her discharge, her medical status, and numerous other questions. We had all the appropriate documents to release information yet we never got the information vital to her success. Over and over Clarissa told my daughter she was going to help her accomplish many tasks, none were ever done. All of a sudden, they decided she needed to leave a week ago. After calling my insurance company I discovered, they were kicking her out because they could no longer justify her stay with the insurance company. The money was drying up today. They didn't care about her success, only how long the money was going to flow. I would absolutely NEVER recommended EDS for anyone. EVER. If I could give it no stars, I would!

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Texas?
When comparing providers in Texas, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Texas?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Texas?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Texas providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Texas providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
