Dr. Desai prescribed all the wrong things for my daughter for 5 months. We ended up taking her to the ER and then a psychiatric care facility in Houston where they fixed her diagnoses and her medications the first day! She is so much better now after being home for just 2 weeks! Dr. Desai did NOT do a proper psych evaluation on her in the beginning, he just asked her some questions in front of me and then prescribed, leaning on what a therapist had thought. He also never saw me or my husband alone to talk about my teenage daughter's behavior and mental health issues. You would be better off finding a good psychiatrist from a psychiatric care facility in Houston, one who has real world experience helping patients with mental health issues, and just go to that psychiatrist's office directly. Most do virtual appointments and Dr. Desai is never present in his office anyway but does virtual on a computer in a room only on Mondays. You don't have to go to a crappy psychiatrists just because you live in a small town. It was hard to get booked or even get through on the phone to Dr. Desai's office. Thanks for nothing, Dr. Desai! Worst 5 months of our lives! If you or someone you love is dealing with mental health issues, I recommend you go to a psychiatrist who works at a psychiatric care facility. It is not as bad as you think and you are going to be okay. Ask for a full psychological evaluation and don't take a therapist or counselor's unofficial diagnosis. They CANNOT diagnose. Go to a psychiatrist practicing in a real psychiatric care facility who also is seeing patients in an office. They have better mental health care now days and it will be alright for you soon. You are going to be okay.
