If I could give just 0 stars I would. If you want feel criticized, disappointed, and let down come here. I had gave them multiple chances seeing different therapists. The first therapist was more concerned with fashion and then when I asked the management to switch therapists they had let me know that I wasn’t ready and suggested I don’t see no one. When I saw the second therapist I stood with her for about 2-3 years with its ups and downs, but was severely let down after too many times being judged. After once again speaking with management and them trying to cover themselves I was greatly disrespected by the receptionist, manager, and the managers manager it was so sad. I had been screamed at by the manager and she had hung up on me. I tried seeing another therapist but after the third session he had taken my topic of therapy and made it personal telling me I needed to work on my self worth even though it had not been the issue. He continued with the extremely rude and demeaning comments and that had made it very clear that this would be our last session. Everything at this place is lacking between the management, receptionist, and therapists. I’m finally choosing what’s best for me and choosing a place more suitable. It’s good to read these reviews because you don’t feel so alone especially when so many had gone through the same.

Reception is hit or miss, as some are lovely and some are straight up rude. Ive had decent experience with therapists, and have little complaint other than huge case loads make it nearly impossible to schedule with any regularity, and makes rescheduling a nightmare. The Psychologist didn't listen to me during medication appts, and they cut my medication off claimimg i "hadn't been to my check-in" when the DR had pushed my appts way out. i wouldnt recommend Clarity for Medication, but would for counseling.

This place will penalize you if you're sick and you cancel appointment. Apparently you have to cancel a day ahead but if you're not sick a day ahead of time, what are you supposed to do? Guess? Stupid policy. Next time I'm coming in sick, I'll cough and sneeze on everything, puke on the floor.

The level of complete disregard and neglectfulness is astonishing. I have never had to deal with an office dropping the ball so many times and just point blank not doing their job. The director Richelle is rude and takes zero accountability for the office and staff, not only would I not recommend but I will be reporting this facility

Dr. Cohen is an excellent psychiatrist, and I learned a few valuable things from my sessions with him. However, the front desk is highly disorganized—they fail to relay messages to therapists and psychiatrists, which led to my unexpected discharge due to alleged absences, despite my calls.

This has to be one of the worst hospitals I’ve had the displeasure of being at. The ICU nurses are HORRIBLE ! Extremely Rude , no sense of urgency , and no bedside manner at all. They were so unprofessional. My grandfather wanted to up and leave so bad. The blood work was a nightmare. They were hurting him and laughing about it. The only saving grace was in the St Joes unit , the staff there was tolerable and actually cared. Specifically one named Alexandra Walley. I felt she was the only one who gave a shit about my Grandpa and Us ! She addressed any concerns we had and got us answers. She was attentive and my Grandpa always wanted her to come in. We appreciate her ! She didn’t have us sitting there for 3 hours with nobody there , forgotten about like most people!

The therapists I met so far are good. However they’re undergoing changes since most of their staff are international. My two therapist had to leave within the past two years since the government doesn’t support their visa and the program is shutting down. They kept saying they‘ll find me a therapist but it’s been over 3 months since they said that and left me in the dark about it to the point where I have to find a new one elsewhere. So in conclusion, the therapist are fine depending on who your paired with but the office and it’s director are unreliable when it comes with intakes and informing their clients.

Person that tested me was fine but if I didn’t come back another time I would have never gotten my results, I’m so confused how I asked about 10 people in that building where would my results be going to (like an app or a website) and no one answered they just responded to like ANYTHING else I did say😭😭 the guy that tested me said I’ll get a text about my results and I still haven’t. They don’t even have the time that I got their documented when I called they said they have no history of me being there meanwhile they have my urine sample and blood sample like huh. I still don’t know where to find my results and only have two papers of the results that I can’t just bring around everywhere I go to use them. I won’t be going back it’s like I have everyone a hard time and I should’ve been more unapologetic because now I don’t have everything I need. So if you’re no persistent and you’re a pretty bubbly person they just kinda want you out the door. No hate to the workers but that is a health building it’s not a school everyone should know eachother, a front desk worker literally told me he DIDNT know the person that tested me which was weird too.

My counselor was great and so was the psychiatrist I saw. Due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to attend 2 follow ups I had scheduled due to being short staffed at work. When I called to get a refill the nurse informed that because of that they wouldn’t refill my anxiety medication and said “a lot of people work and still make their appointments” she made me feel like a horrible person AND caused me a large amount of anxiety. My meditation was out in 3 days and they can’t get me in for 2 MONTHS. Very disappointed in the lack of empathy from a MENTAL HEALTH NURSE.

I Went there for over 3 years and I saw Debbie as My counselor and Jackie for psychiatry medication management. Right around Thanksgiving Jackie forgot to call in my medication so I was y my medication. I had to go to the emergency room to get my meds and then pay out-of-pocket for my meds. Then I let that go because people make Mistakes ya know. And then again two days before christmas of this year After working a 13 hr day I had to drive to the ER because they again caused medical negligence . Caution ⛔️ go somewhere else

While the front desk staff at this facility were courteous and attentive, the absence of clear signage regarding re-entry policies is concerning. Patients who briefly leave the premises, even for a phone call, are not permitted to re-enter—a policy that should be clearly communicated through visible signage. When inquiring about the lack of such notifications, the manager enforcing this rule responded rudely. He was observed standing near the front desk team without assisting them; it would be more productive for him to address this issue by ensuring proper signage is in place to inform patients about the no re-entry policy after check-in. Do better.

I have a young child who needs counseling services. It took nearly two months to get the initial appointment, which I understood because it can take time to find providers. Unfortunately, after finally getting scheduled, the first appointment had to be canceled by the office. They did reschedule fairly quickly, which I appreciated. At the intake appointment, however, I was extremely uncomfortable with the type of questions being asked in front of my child. There were repeated discussions about traumatic events, negative behaviors, and other topics that did not seem appropriate to continuously discuss in front of a young child. When I was contacted to schedule the second appointment, I was again told that my son “must” attend. Because of my concerns from the first appointment, I asked what types of questions would be asked during this next session. I was told a supervisor would call me back. I then spoke with supervisor Danielle Maiorano. She again stated that my son would need to attend the appointment. When I expressed concern about exposing him to repeated traumatic discussions, she acknowledged that the questions would involve topics a child his age probably should not repeatedly hear. Her suggestion was that I leave my young child alone in the waiting room with the secretary for the hour-long appointment. That did not seem appropriate or safe to me either. The conversation became even more concerning when I was told that “they can’t protect them,” and the discussion then shifted into implying that maybe I did not need their services at all because I was questioning the process. As a parent trying to seek help for my child, this experience was incredibly upsetting and discouraging. I truly hope this was an isolated experience with one individual and not reflective of the entire agency. I am currently waiting to hear back from another supervisor, Jessica Reynolds, and will update after speaking with her. I would strongly encourage parents to thoroughly research counseling providers and ask detailed questions about their intake process before beginning services.

If you’re trying to find or improve your mental health. Please do not come here. THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU. I was assigned a therapist who just saw me three times. I came with a lot of depression and anxiety. I needed help and I was desperate. Two weeks later she says she was going on vacation and that I will get an appointment after she was back. It was about two extra weeks without help. I had to go to the ER to get some help and medicine for my state of mind. I came back as the ER doctor advised me to continue with my therapist since the google phone number doesn’t connect directly with them and since my therapist never called me back I came many times in person for THREE WEEKS!!! I came today and my therapist came to give me a “dismissal letter” to go somewhere else. What kind of place is this? People come with their problems trying to find help but they only waste your time. I feel disappointed and upset. They could just put me with a different therapist or they could’ve been on top of my case. Nobody there is accountable for this. They just want to get rid of you as a disposable thing. I’m sorry. I’m so sad that I’m trying to find help and not even these therapist are empathetic with their customers who are in need. I didn’t miss two appointments because I never had the chance to be call to make a follow up. Just missed one and now I’m dismissed? This is frustrating and I came here to express it. Hopefully this helps people to think twice before seeking for help here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in New York?
When comparing providers in New York, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in New York?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in New York?
Yes. Mental Health US includes New York providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all New York providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
