I had a good experience with my therapist and medication provider at LBE. I connected well with both and felt like my concerns and issues were heard. I only left because my insurance changed and didn't cover their services any longer.

Gladstone changed my life. I have been working with my therapist now with them for several years and she is nothing short of amazing. They do have some internal communication issues that they are trying to work on, which can be frustrating at times. But my therapist and psychiatrist are worth it

I'm having difficulty coping with life. I finally worked up the nerve and reached out to Vesta for help. I submitted my online referral application 2 weeks ago on Sunday, May 22nd. I've called twice, left voicemails, and contacted them via email since then. Needless to say, I have yet to hear back. Sadly, incidents such as this is why so many lose hope and give up. May they RIP. Whomever is struggling with their mental health, stay strong, and reach out. There are compassionate, professional counseling centers out there that will actually acknowledge potential patients. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I've been more than reasonable. Two weeks is plenty of time for someone to have gotten back with me by now. I had to rate one star in order to leave a review.

Decent when you can actually get in. Wait times are atrocious. You can get there on time and have to wait ten minutes to an hour to be seen. Every single visit I have had to wait for about 10 or 20 minutes on average, and whenever the waiting room is packed, I've waited nearly an hour on two occasions before getting fed up and leaving. Care is also not great, especially not for how long the wait times are. Going here is more of a gamble than high stakes poker.

Reviews make you think the front desk girls are all pissed off trolls charging limbs for access to their amazing providers. After going in for my evaluation today I have to disagree with everything said about all the receptionist. I had a issue that wasn't my fault or theirs and they did a great job working with me to get around it. I even gave them a out to brush me off and do it another day. Bad, rude or lazy workers would have jumped at that opportunity but these phenomenal employees didn't want me driving to the office for nothing. As far as I'm concerned they performed a magic trick just by getting me seen today. Not to mention all of them we're nice, easy to talk too and very halpful. I think there getting so much hate because their real people instead of robot ass kissers. Based on my visit all of you are doing exceptionally well and I literally couldn't ask for better care than I got today.

Only giving two stars for the wonderful therapist my kids had here and for the wonderful receptionist and staff. We had numerous unenjoyable experiences with Margaret and I felt uncomfortable every appointment with her. I was told that in order to continue there we couldn’t see an outside psych doctor even though she’s the only provider who sees children and only works one day a week at this location. Really urge people with any sort of medical ptsd or trouble advocating for yourself/ your children to stay away.. I felt triggered consistently by their provider. They would offer solutions such as my daughter’s therapist being a part of the psych appointments yet didn’t follow through or the possibility of being able to see an alternative provider just to be told that it wasn’t possible after all. Now I have to find a new therapist for my kids after they already had trust and a good relationship built with one at this facility. Be aware.

I’ve been talking to therapists and psychiatrists since I was 6 years old…I am now 34 and this was the WORST experience I’ve ever had with doctors, my psychiatrist Dr. Riley in specific(request NOT to get him), I told him I was on 4 medications before and they all worked for me and he only put me on 2 of 4 because apparently he knows more about what works for me than I know myself…but to top it off, I had a phone appointment with him(which he begged to do phone instead of in person), then doesn’t make a follow up appointment with me because he told me he was gonna call me by the end of that week about my meds. I did NOT hear from him by the end of the week and didn’t get a call back until the next week and he still didn’t book a follow up appointment. My meds ran out, the pharmacy sent a request for a refill and somehow it got denied so when I called and asked when I’m supposed to see him again, I get told “oh you were supposed to book another appointment with the front desk”…I said”the appointment was over the phone, there IS NO FRONT DESK”. Just the fact he “forgot” to schedule another appointment for me shows clearly he is NOT trying to help anyone, he simply puffs out his chest with his degree and gets his fat paycheck and that’s all he cares for. When I told them I’d like to request to see a new doctor, they told me that I either need to continue to see Dr. Riley or go somewhere else. So now, after only 2 appointments, I am without a doctor and without medication AGAIN. Thanks a lot Keypoint for a whole lot of nothing. These doctors have no care in the world about helping their patients, I’ve never seen that level of not caring in the medical world in my whole 34 years. DO NOT GO HERE

The way station is an awesome resource for the community!!! I've had my share of mental illness professionals, that has been extremely disconnected and insensitive to patients. However, Dr. Hakim and Ms Linda are awesome and a major asset to this program. Often times mental health doctors appear to be so weird/strange they freak me out and the therapist does not understand anything, so I'm never engaged. Not this time! I absolutely love them.

I am unsure of if Kristin Milne is still at this practice, however an experience I had with her a few years ago is indicative of her care as a counselor. I discovered my cat was missing on the day of our first meeting. At the time, I wasn't making much money, but was serious about my mental health and saved up enough for a few sessions. When I discovered my cat was missing, my first call was to this practice to cancel the appointment and to explain. I was charged a $125 cancelation fee. I sent an email directly to Kristin asking for an exception to be made due to losing my cat of 9 years, and highlighted everything I did to try to find him within the first 24 hours, and explained the timeline. In the case of a lost pet, moving quickly is of the essence. The response I got, boiled down, was "you should have come in anyway", "too bad", "no we will not use this $125 as a credit for a future appointment", which stalled my ability to seek therapy. As an aside, I never found my cat, and although plenty of people in the wonderful community of Frederick showed up in a huge way, Kristin was absolutely not one of those people. I sure hope the $125 was worth it for her.

Please be aware this place does not help at all with any type of housing so dont let no one tell you they do especially Avery road tires to advertise they do so they can make money that all they want is money. Hi I stayed in avery house so this is from experience. Well to start the staff treat you like animals; especially this lady called Miss penny she is so unprofessional she cusses all the time and brings her personal business to work to ask for advice from women who are in recovery. All the staff sucks they never have answers for you especially the new director Ana atim you can tell she only works for the money do not go here with kids they dont accommodate. Horrible experience would never recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Maryland?
When comparing providers in Maryland, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Maryland?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Maryland?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Maryland providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Maryland providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
