With NO proof of income because I haven't gotten paid yet they want $127! WITH proof of income, it's only $50. So if I make $6000 a month you telling me my copay is $50, just like the ones who have no income? This is backwards. It should be lower for no income and higher for proof of income like mine.

If I could give 0 starts i would. This place is a joke. Very unprofessional ism. They acted like they didn't want to help my child. They tried to give us meds we had already tried and did not help my son. They guy asking us questions looked like he hadn't had a bath in a week and acted like my son had leprosy. The real dr came in and his whole body was shaking like he was on drugs... don't go here

This place is awful I was there from August 8th 2023 to June 25th 2024 while being there kids got into fights with everyone destroying the place knocking holes in the walls busting cameras kicking down the door and running. I'm not going to say the name but one of the staff let Kayla watts jump me all because she didn't like me because I was white and I was a "trans female". That same staff let Symara Thomas jump me for literally no reason the kid blackened both of my eyes broke my nose and they didn't do anything about it but complimented her on doing it. Staff will threaten you and take you on your room where there is no cameras and beat on you. and then go back and delete the camera footage of them doing it. Staff will rub it in your face that they get to go home and we don't they curse at you they intimidate you into doing things. I got placed there for suicide attempt and the place made it worse for me I gained more trauma than anything. I would NOT recommend you putting your child there. The staff pick favorite kids and the do things with them and the ones who are not the favorite kids don't get to do anything. Please do not put your kids in here

Elena, the nurse practitioner I was seeing for a few months, didn’t want to change my medicines, and she also wouldn’t let my family be involved by updating them on what was going on. She’s very rude, and she always had been, and she’s never been a patient advocate for me.

Don't use the facility in Heflin. The Dr. Is never there, never answer's messages, etc. I've been a patient for years and never had these issues before when Tracy Wade, NP was there!! I'm on medication that cannot be stopped abruptly, and for the past 2 months I've ran out waiting for Dr.Victoria to send it to my pharmacy. I started calling 2weeks ago, my pharmacy also faxed her, and still today I sit here without my meds. I've called everyday, still nothing!! No call back, no medication, nothing. Today I called the main complex in Gadsden, and was told who to speak with concerning this issue...guess what? No answer there either, had to leave a message each time and I still have not had a call-back!!

The providers are good but the office is not. They told me they would let me know if I was approved as a returning patient twice over the phone and once in person, each time promising a call back, only for me to find out months later the dr was never accepting patients during this time in the first place. I have experienced multiple mental health crisis and the time I was waiting for anyone in this office to care I could have been finding a new doctor.

If I could I would give a zero but have to put a a star. I was at breckenridge for 2 years dealt with Kelley, roneka, dubose, Trina, Tina, and destiny. There was constant chaos. There is a significant amount of verbal abuse. I guess they think they can treat people like trash bc they have a degree and the think we have no ability to say anything. We have went to advocate and everything it didn’t work. My roomate was very nasty we had infestation of bugs and they would not teach her how to clean and help her. People learned nothing there not even me. I had to learn on my own. It was a waste of 2 years being there. I finally have a great apartment on my own and I am loving it. I feel horrible if you ever have to deal with any of these people. Don’t put your family in breckenridge. It will only make things worse.

I had my first visit with the Therapist. I was there for 30 minutes to tell me all I needed was sleep. I came there for help with various issues that have occurred in my life and left with nothing. But they got $200.00 out of me for a 30 minute visit. Maybe they are good with children and adolescents, but not adults. I will be going somewhere else.

This office cancelled on me twice the day of my appointments. Always staying “the therapist had to leave”. They should probably have more reliable therapists if they can’t bother to ever stay a full day at work. On top of that the receptionist never leaves a voicemail, when you call back it takes a while, and multiple calls, to get through. I suggest just going to the Dothan office if you actually want help. I have been trying to just do an initial intake appointment for three months and have been unsuccessful solely based on their atrocious business practices.

This is literally the worst place to go for help. I've been turned away twice bc of THEIR mistakes. First time they turned me away was bc they rescheduled my appt WITHOUT letting me know until I get up there with the appt I originally had. Then today I show up for my new appt and I brought EVERYTHING I was told to bring. I get there and they tell me I need a letter recommendation (which I was recommended there by my primary dr) and a proof of residency. They never once mentioned that the times I have called them. So of course I'm not gonna show up with something I never knew I needed. Never AGAIN. Do not recommend at all.

I thankfully got my husband out of that facility. It is horrible--should be closed. It is only a money grab. They have no expertise in anything not even regular general practice of medicine. I warned them that patients should be hydrated. They didn't thus he was sent to ER 10/11. They left the catheter until 10/16 with me asking every day for it to be removed. His urine turned brown so they sent him to ER 10/16. They did no med change except to suggest an appetite stimulus. I refuse that because by then I didn't trust them all. Never saw a doctor of any kind, wasn't even given any doctors phone # when requested, was never shaved, was wearing rag bag clothes because they claimed his were in the laundry.. I sent the required amount of clothing. Do they only have one wash day a week when they say bring 3 outfits. When given his clothes back, I sat down and counted because I knew they wouldn't all be there. I kept asking for his Sketcher slip- ons. At first they said he didn't arrive with them, next they brought out an old ragged pair, finally on third try, they produced the shoes. He wasn't shaved for the whole stay though requested to be. When you can get the phone answered, you get the run around or conflicting stories. No help with teeth brushing even though instructed to . Just plain sloppiness with an"I don't care attitude ". No wonder you have to have an appointment to visit. DON'T SEND YOR LOVED ONE THERE. THEY WONT BE HELPED, AND MAYBE HARMED.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Alabama?
When comparing providers in Alabama, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Alabama?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Alabama?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Alabama providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Alabama providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
