First it took them 5 months to make my then 14yr old crisis patient an appointment with the Pyschiatrist. They don’t return phone calls. His counselor quit or got fired who knows, but they never set me my son up with a new counselor or advised me that she was gone. I had to find out by texting her and her telling me she no longer worked there. Since then no one has reached out to setup an appointment for him. My son has Biploar 1; schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, ptsd, past methaphetamine exposure prior to being put in foster care, the past Suicidal Ideation visits and 4 Pyschiatric stays since we got him 7 yrs ago. He had threatened to kill heimself, blow up the school, kill the teacher with a knife while walking around sharpening it outside, and now has threats of cutting kids heads off. Hes been on meds since I got him in 2017 apx a week after placement and had a psychiatrist & counselors. This all was going good in Kansas, but since moving back to Texas and trying to get help with Andrew’s Center has been devastatingly hard. We are trying to get outside home placement and the Pyschiatrist, CRCG, and post adoption are onboard. But I find out after the counselor quit that she is probably the reason we didn’t get it because she didn’t agree with outside place. He’s a manipulator and narcissist so I guess he had her wrapped around her finger , because like she always said, “he reminds me of my brother”. Son went to his four Pyschiatrist facility and was scheduled with a counselor by the Pyschiatric facility with someone. I called to verify the address and asked about the appointment, the person I spoke with told me the person he had been scheduled with wasn’t even a 15yr olds counselor, she was an adult counselor & that someone would call me back with more information. After 5 calls and messages being left throughout the day I called back to get more information. I was told the appointment was canceled because the counselor was an adult counselor. If I hadn’t called back I would have drove for 1.5hrs, took my son out of his alternative school, just to be told the appointment was canceled. I gave 1 star because Dr Furlong has been helpful thus far.

My friend is going here and has had to jump through hoops just to get his medication. They are constantly not filling his medication and are depriving him of his mental stability. Quality of care for their patients is poor and borderline abusive. I am tired of him not having his medication and going into downward spirals every single month. He is not on any controlled substances and is being forced to come in every single month. His medication balances him and he is good on it and should only need to come in once every 3 months. As a medical assistant myself I would never send a patient here for mistreatment and abuse of their mental health. Who ever is in change it’s time for new staff.

My 70 year old Mom was brought here by the police department to be assessed for dementia due to her erratic behavior and confusion. I left messages for the staff to call me and verify if she was ok after 2 days and no one responded. I was not able to get ahold of anyone until she had been there for 4 days. I repeatedly called and left messages for the staff and for her to call me with no return phone call. I finally got ahold of a nurse on the adolescent unit who brought a message to thev Nurse on her unit. When the Nurse called me from her unit all she did was complain about my Mom's behavior. She NEVER gave me a code to call my Mom and never told me about visitation hours and times. My Mom also did not know I needed a passcode to call or when visitation was. My Mom is clearly unwell mentally and they never discussed her mental health with me at all. She is unable to relay any of this information to me and has memory issues. She was taken to the ER the 2nd day she was there due to severly elevated blood pressure and she requested that they call me and no one ever did. When I asked why she did not call me while there they stated they took her phone privalages away. They were taken away because she called 911 due to her high blood pressure. They refused to give her medical care. She says she suffered a mild heart attack and no one there reached out to me to let me know. She came home in worse condition then she was in when she was taken there. They released her after 10 days and were unable to get her to take any new medications. They are a behavioral health center. How were they unable to treat her? She was not allowed to go to group therapy sessions and didnt see a therapist until she had been there 7 days. They never shared a diagnosis with me and failed to make any arrangements for continuing care. They held her there for 10 days and did nothing for her other than make her worse. In my opinion they kept her there for insurance money and did not care wether or not her condition improved or if her family had the tools to help her. DO NOT trust this place to care for your loved one. Terrible, terrible place. I'm now in a way worse situation with my Mom than I was in prior to her going there.

I am amending my review after a recent diagnosis. I was put on medication with detrimental side effects that were ignored by this facility and the doctor, Kandace (Guard). Scenic mountain injected me and I suffered Parkinson’s and EPS so bad I could not speak and could not eat. Kandace told my husband she would refuse to treat me if I saw any other doctor besides her. I had to beg my husband to take me to my PCP during the medical crisis that severely impacted my quality of life and functioning of my body. Furthermore, Kandace knew I had symptoms of hyperprolactinemia and chose to ignore it. I am now diagnosed with this metabolic disorder as a direct result of the medication I was prescribed by WTC MHMR over 5 years ago. I am working with a Harvard doctor. I have learned prolactin is to be checked before and during prescribing this medication. This severe hyperprolactinemia, which is a result of the prescription, caused exacerbation of my genetic connective tissue disease/collagen disorder and caused an autoimmune response. It gives me low blood pressure and high cholesterol. Additionally, the typical side effects were blatantly ignored as I was grilled about my personal life regarding my husband. I asked this doctor if I had to be on this particular medication my whole life. She said yep. I felt hopeless during the duration of my stay in this town especially as I fought to receive subpar care.

This saddens my heart because you're supposed to care for patients in this field especially, and the workers at the front desk do not care. They don't even listen to the psychiatrist when she asks them to make a copy of something! Never call you back even when they say they would. Purposely hang up on you because you're rightfully irate as a single mother with a child who's livelihood depends on this office. Dr. Mandela is nice and does what she can but I'm really considering looking for a new psychiatrist due to the unprofessionalism at the front. I even asked the girl for her name and she didn't want to give but it's okay because the look on all their faces when you walk in shows the service you're gonna get. Dirt rotten. McDonald's gives better care than these people which is just SAD. Even considering holistic healing for my child at this point. When she finally gave me her name it is "azul" 😆 so Azul I can say DEFINITELY does not care about your child's mental health.

I was with tcc for many years using there mental health services and regular health services. Then came covid and we started doing meetings by telephone . All was great until one day I recieved a letter in the mail stating I could no longer use there mental health services do to I was unreachable . My phone nor my address had changed . So they found a way to tell me I could no longer use there mental health services however im unreachable. So I spoke with the regular doctors office thinking I would have to get another doctor also , they told me I could still be there patient weather or not i was using the mental health part . So over two years later they diagnosed me with diabetes and at that time Jan 27th 2025 ms.armstrong told me i could no longer be her patient since i didn't use there mental health services ( they choose this themselves ) however she said I would have 90 days to get another doctor . Ms. Armstrong told me she would make sure I had enough medicine for the 90 days . This was not done So I called them today letting them know I was almost out of insulin and they told me they couldn't help me because they already took me out of there system . Not sure what that has to do with a prescription. Anyway I was lied to because my 90 days will be up on April 27th 2025 . Well over two more weeks away . If they had told the truth I would have found another avenue for my prescription . Soo don't believe what the tell you because Ms. Armstrong apparently lies . Im really sorry that I was pushed to leave this kind of review . A very dishonest place .

I am an RN that worked part time for this company for 2 years at their outpatient facility in Plano, Tx. Our nightime therapist had to take FMLA and I was told my job was temporarily on hold and that they would find me work elsewhere. I did not hear from anyone for over 3 months , so I filed for unemployment. Was then notified that I was terminated. Which is retaliation. In the two years that I worked here, we received no raises and they even randomly just took away my PTO after I received it for over a year and a half. Our facility in Plano had no security cameras at all. I worked alone at night with two other women and we repeatedly told them our safety concerns and need for cameras, still nothing. Work here if you want to make less money than when you started and if you want your safety at risk. They do not care about patients either, just making money and cutting corners.

I just released from this place yesterday. When I went in they traumatized me rather than helping me. I begged them not to leave me in that room by myself and they were so rude and had so much attitude and told me no they have better things to do. I kept asking what time it was and everyone told me a different time and day. When I went in to get my exam before they send you to the unit, I couldn’t bring myself to take off my clothes and I started crying and I would say 6 maybe 7 different staff came in that thing room and kept trying to get me to take a pill or a shot. I told them I don’t want that I just want someone to talk to because they’re scaring me. I told them over and over that they were scaring me. I fell on the floor because more and more people kept coming in which was making everything worse and a black lady came in and sat on the floor with me and started yelling at me to calm down. I begged and begged her to stop yelling at me and her response was “I’m not yelling at you, you need to pipe down”. After about an hour or so of me begging to just talk to one person they finally decided it would be too dangerous so they had two people in there and the nurse was behind the wall holding the needle waiting to stab me. I talked and called down within 5 minutes. They traumatized me more than I already was when I came in. When I got on the unit I couldn’t fall asleep and they wouldn’t let me talk to any staff. I sat next to the nurses station on my bed crying and hyperventilating and begging to talk to someone and they literally just laughed in my face and told me no. That was every single time I tried to ask for help. This is the most unprofessional hospital I’ve ever experienced. The only person in that entire facility that knew how to do his job was Mr. David. They told me I was leaving on monday. Even on monday they told I was leaving. They told me I was leaving Tuesday, I didn’t. Turns out I was supposed to be discharged on Monday but no one reached out to my guardian to tell her that. I’ve been to multiple different mental health facilities and this is by far the worst place I’ve been to. Please do not send your children here.

I, as a patient, had a healthy time here. I stayed for about five days (arriving at 3:30 in the morning of a Wednesday and leaving at 2:30 the following Monday) and it served a great mental reset. The staff were nice people. Maybe it’s cuz I was in the adolescent wing, but the balance of tv-watching and mental health stuff really let me relax and still realize a goal and healthy way to communicate once I leave.

I highly recommend avoiding this program. The majority of people who will be working directly with your child are vastly inexperienced. Their guidance and counseling is potentially more dangerous than not asking for external help at all. I would highly recommend services in the private sector before considering Emergence. Take that as you may, proceed at your own risk.

I got accepted into the program and it's 9 hours per week and we do nothing. They present you with facts you already know and show you redundant videos, take notes, and quiz you afterwards. I wish them all the staff the best but I was only going there while I looked for a better option. I ended up going with Tropical on Old Alice Rd. Tropical isn't just a waste of time and energy to keep you busy. Edit: The instructor from RCCC called me and she said that she could do 1 on 1 conversations as soon as they get more employees so that gave them one star back. We'll see what happens in the future.

Good enough to get what I need to get done, especially if you can’t afford doctors like thousands of other folks in Odessa. I know that the lack of social aid and state funding for stuff like this causes the sucky parts like very long wait times and compounds little mistakes a lot, which sucks. Still would much rather have it as it is than nothing at all.

They did two “assessments” of my son and to this day, months later, I still have not seen or received any results or follow up. I’ve called multiple times to no avail. Do not waste your time the way that we wasted ours just trying to get help for our child.

I had a referral for both counseling and psychiatry for medication. They never reached out to me once my referrals were available. I had one and then asked my doctor for the other. I came off my medication on my own. Then I called to make an appointment on a Friday and was told that they leave at noon on Friday. That to me is not reasonable considering the volume of people that have issues and need appointments. I looked up their reviews. The reviews left me with doubts about the quality and competency of them being able to help me. So today I was called to make an appointment and I called back and was told they wanted more information regarding what I wanted to be seen about from my doctor and wanted me to go back and ask them to send something. I asked why can’t you ask me or have an evaluation type form for me to do. Well she said that they also have that form but still wanted this from my doctor. Well I got off the phone and I realized that this is wasting my time and my doctor’s time. And what if I don’t feel like sharing that much information with my doctor. It really kinda pissed me off. They had my referral since December or January and had no concern to reach out to ask for this information and no concern to make appointments. It’s now March. And then they are scheduling 2-4 weeks out. Well maybe if they worked on Fridays they could knock out some of that delay. This bullcrap sealed the deal for me that they lack in care and competence. I’ll find somewhere else.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Texas?
When comparing providers in Texas, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Texas?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Texas?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Texas providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Texas providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
