This was THE most friendly and engaging placebeen to in regards to stability and my mental health. At night, they were so very quiet. Previously, the issue of the slamming of doors and laughter, loud talk, etc being couple of behavioral health facility's where they were ridiculously loud. I was actually sleep deprived.

This does not help you it’s on the verge of feeling like applying for a bank loan. It’s been 6 months I haven’t had service they have you wait long hours to tell you they’re not seeing you. I didn’t see any ambassador. It didn’t used to be like this years ago. I will be going to another location since they act like the qualifications are so high or else you can’t be seen. Waiting for a while in waiting rooms. The protocol is totally different at the other locations. They guide you and make you feel accepted. This place is checking your credit.

Was there a long time ago back in 2013 have autism and been having emotional breakdowns the whole time I've been there not feeling validated and like most people were saying "Favoritism" which is not okay was 15 at the time dealing with emotional pain, the food was not the best had to only eat the snacks til I finally got out of there to finally eat real food again, and it seemed like the nurses don't care it's all for the money. Still can't believe they've gotten alot worse please don't go to Devereux or Texana both places are nothing but a huge waste of time and money.

Family member started in 2023 and was approved for the sliding scale help with only my income. Once I started receiving insurance through my job the family member no longer qualified for the financial help. My insurance has a copay of $30. Even though the family member qualified to pay $0 for services;is now being charged the copay. I called and I was told that the insurance is charging the copay that is due for services. Why is the $30 not waived if the family member qualified to pay $0? I asked what the family member would pay if there was no insurance; their reply was $0 for services. Doesn't make sense. Along with just finding this out. They sent a bill for all the past visits from last year. Their reply to that was that they had been charging but someone had not sent the bill out in the mail. Not happy with this at all!!!

The entire staff here is AMAZING and so caring. I was with tejas health care for over 10 years and just stayed because of comfort. After dealing with anxiety and depression, and my primary just looking at me and asking “well do you want meds?” And not offering anything else. I knew it was time to change. I am so glad I switched. They offer mental and primary health and they are all so wonderful. I have no regrets in changing clinics.

I like my psychiatrist, but don't love the front staff. Asking for refills is like pulling teeth. Requested a refill of my adderall last week, my original pharmacy didn't have the script at first so THREE DAYS LATER they finally sent it. Turns out the pharmacy is out, asked to move to another pharmacy... 5 emails later and I'm still waiting.

I'm going to explain everything to the best of my ability. In 2025, I experienced significant mental health challenges that prompted me to seek help. After discussing my situation with several people, Child Protective Services (CPS) became involved, and they recommended that I go to Rio for further evaluation and support. Following their advice, I underwent a comprehensive assessment, which concluded that I needed to be admitted for treatment. This news was difficult for my family, especially my mother, who was visibly emotional as she packed my belongings for the stay. Upon arrival, I encountered a lengthy waiting period before the intake process began, the reasons for which were unclear to me. Eventually, I was thoroughly examined by the medical staff, who instructed me to remove certain items, such as my laced shoes, to ensure my safety and prevent any potential harm. The facility maintained a high level of professionalism, and I found the environment to be well-organized and conducive to mental health care. After settling in, I attended dinner and later returned to my room, where my roommate kindly explained the daily routine and activities. Following this introduction, I prepared for bed. Reflecting on my experience, I would rate the food as excellent, giving it a 10 out of 10. The cleanliness of the facility was satisfactory, earning a 7 out of 10, while hygiene standards could be improved, for which I would give a 4 out of 10. The comfort level was moderate, at 5 out of 10, and the staff were generally attentive and supportive, deserving an 8 out of 10. Overall, the facility provided a positive environment for recovery, though I would strongly recommend enhancing privacy measures for patients to improve their comfort and sense of security. However, it is important to note that the cost of this care was quite high—approximately $2,000—which seems excessive for a facility that is intended to provide support and healing. This expense adds an additional layer of stress for patients and their families, which could be alleviated with more affordable options or financial assistance

Scheduled an appointment for a diagnosis for autism which they said was a service provided after driving an hour to their location and then waiting another hour i was then informed that was in fact not a service they provide. Giant waste of time would not recommend mental health services from an outfit that does NOT listen to their patients.

went here about 2 years ago. horrible place with a weird doctor ( dont know if hes still there) who would tell some patients they needed to eat burgers. it was very understaffed and particularly one staff member, crystal, would yell at patients and me, which would make us all scared and resentful of her. We were also super rushed in the morning, getting no time to change and shower. The only thing i liked about this place was the nurses and getting to bond with the other patient's. Overall, really shitty place but did help me in recovery because of all pf the bonds i was able to make with people who were going through similar things like me.

I love the amazing staff at Helen Farabee. They are there because they care and want to make a positive change. Each and every one of them is wonderful in their own unique way. They all bring so much to the table! I had the great pleasure of having Dr.Crane as my Psychiatrist. Dr. Crane is an excellent doctor and he really took the time and care to find the best solution for me as an individual and something that would fit best for my life while taking my physical health into account as well. He is very personable and kind and professional. Helen Farabee is definitely so blessed to have him as well as the rest of everyone who works there. This place is spectacular! I Love You All! ❤️

A family member of mine went to the Family Hospital for a rash while taking an anti-epileptic. He was stable, his labs were normal, and the rash was already improving. Despite this, two providers pushed to transfer and admit him to stop a medication that has been the only one to control his epilepsy. The second I calmly questioned that plan and tried to provide context, the tone changed. (For context I work in dermatology and was consulting TRAINED dermatologist on my family member's situation, in which they disagreed with the family hospitals plan). I was immediately interrupted, talked over, and spoken to in a raised voice. The male physician repeatedly said, “Can I get a word in?” while not allowing me to finish a sentence, and told me multiple times I did not have the credentials to be part of the discussion. In all my years of medical training and being at every doctors visit or hospital admission for this family member, I have never seen a doctor treat a patient and their family so poorly. What could have been a respectful conversation turned into being belittled. Patients and family members have every right to advocate and to understand the reasoning behind major medical decisions. That should not be met with hostility. He decided to leave AMA and the next day, a dermatologist confirmed the rash was not caused by his medication. He has stayed on the medication, and the rash has continued to improve. I truly hope these providers reflect on how they speak to patients and their families. More respect and composure would go a long way for everyone involved. I hope future patients of this hospital are treated a whole lot better than we were.

I went here in 2016 for services and Kelly was an absolutely caring and compassionate counselor. I enjoyed the classes and services offered. However, I called today inquiring about a 30 day outpatient program and you would have thought I asked a question in an incomprehensible language. Spent a few minutes circling with the person who answered the phone. She was rude, gave short responses and hung up on me. Before hanging up on me she said they don't offer 30 day programs and that their program was 4 months. Great, express that kindly at the beginning of a conversation and we can all move on. Disappointed in her response as I was seeking care.

Don’t waste your time or money. This is the first review of any kind I ever done. Was referred from my family doc that had no problem prescribing me my meds that worked untill now. Never talked to a real mental Heath professional/doc to restart my meds that I desperately need right now that I’ve taken for 15 years. Just a arrogant nurse practitioner that pushed worthless same old cough meds/ssri ‘s and claimed that the meds I’ve taken for many years have awful side affects after talking to me for 3 minutes. This is the Worst mistake of my life voluntarily trying something new and getting off regiment that actually worked. Been is ER twice/one hospitalization overnight due to serotonin syndrome that almost killed me. Tried almost every awful ssri and antihistamine there is at least 20 of em and the 2 that worked now have a stigma associated with them. Aka what Ned school and the govt labels a narcotic and not long term option. The same govt and medical community that pushed this COVID bs on us. Starting to think mental health professionals are all a joke. I wish the best for anyone in the same boat that can’t get the Meds we desperately need now due to stigma associated with certain meds to live a normal life and pray that god will guide you to peace and pursuit of happiness. I’m a 41 year old dad of 2 and never abused a drug in my life. Hope anyone that reads this has better luck and finds the rare doc that is worth a crap for us that have minds we cannot shut off and live in agony 24 hrs a day Pretty close to giving up on these so called mental health professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Texas?
When comparing providers in Texas, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Texas?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Texas?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Texas providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Texas providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
