My son received a callback to schedule a 48 hour IDRC class. The employee he spoke to reviewed aspects of his case and said he needed to attend 2 48 hour classes. I had to pay for them so I asked if they were different information that would be shared. She said both classes were identical and I was being honest when I said that it seemed it was more about the money. These classes were in excess of $300 and my son is not working. He is caregiver for his son that has cerebral palsy and for me as I had a spinal tumor that left me in a wheelchair after surgery. When I gave the associate my card it was declined initially and she rudely stated that we should call back when we had the money. I told her that my card had sufficient funds but the transaction was blocked and I received a verification text from my bank. I asked her to hold on while I confirmed that the transaction was valid and she tried again and it was approved. Throughout the interaction Maria was rude and very condescending. I understand that she may have felt superior as she was dealing with a person that had several DWI but you never know what a person is going through and I think an institution like Hope should be respectful to clients. My son never received notification that theses classes were required and completed Drug Court. He was in an in-patient facility, then transitioned to a work release program and was on probation for 5 years. This happened 8 years ago and my son is moving on with his life and has really been a blessing to me and a dedicated father to his son! I did not need Maria to undermine his confidence by emphasizing that he had multiple DWI. She said she was the supervisor but had very poor people skills.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Most unprofessional and uncaring psychiatry office I have come across in my 15 years of mental health treatment. Despite their voice mail box stating they will give you a call back in 24 hours, they never do. When trying to schedule a follow up appointment in office the young receptionist was rude and dismissive. It’s a shame because Brittany had the potential of being a great asset to bettering my mental health but Atlanticare Behavioral Health is simply a terrible organization. I hope she realizes she can do better and moved onto a facility that is up to the standards of her work.

I was xferred here bc my counselor in Marlton was leaving. They put me w/ Zandra. After 2 sessions she said the Princeton House was better suited bc I'm suicidal. Zandra discharged me without checking if Princeton could take me. They could not and since I was already discharged l, Zandra said I couldn't stay w Genesis. So now I have no therapist at all and I could use one right about now.

Whoever called me for an intake is very rude, her tone sounded as if she was annoyed or in a rush. As soon as she heard my child cry she said the the conversation was over and ended the call and she was only about 3 sentences in. I don't see what the problem was, the application said not to apply if you didn't have children.

Horrible place for one to seek care. The lack of professionalism and care along with not provided ing basic essentials is disgusting. Staff was yelling at adolescents, the staff is unorganized and uncoordinated. They accuse patients of lying, and none of the staff can get on the same page. Disgusting display of supervision when inappropriate acts are happening. There is a lack of communication, competence, and professionalism. This place should not be allowed to provide mental health care until they and properly trained and can work cohesivly. Such a sadness to see that places like this exist!

This is the second time in several years my son tried their PHP and IOP programs and he thought this time with the new staff it would have been better. it is not. the staff was scattered unavailable unorganized unwelcoming, and my son felt outcast. everyone in the groups were already in cliques didn't greet him or make him feel like he could open up what a horrible experience. When he asked to speak to staff about it they blew him off.

They broke confidentiality unethically, which put me and my family through a lot of stress and strained our relationships. My therapist didn't even try the specific type of therapy I had expressed an interest in trying. To top it off, they knew I had limited/no transportation to/from the office, they suddenly cut me off in an aggressive e-mail, leaving me to have to self-medicate for a while, which is extremely dangerous and even life-threatening. If I had done it incorrectly I could have died or had serious withdrawal symptoms or health effects. Awful place, lost all trust in psyhiatrists and therapists because of them!

Absolutely terrible for individual medication management. Told me that they had late appointment options or weekends to work woth my work schedule. Set me up with someone that is the complete opposite of my preferences. The NP continued to ask me about medication I haven't taken in years every single appointment (like seriously? Take notes or listen to your patient.) Dr. Mesode took no care in me as a patient, had me consistently repeating myself to the point that it became beyond frustrating. Needed my meds prescribed in 3 month supply to work with my insurance. Prescribed it once and then stopped prescribing it that way because she kept zero notes on me as a patient. How else can you screw that up. For me the job was simple, the meds I'm on work, I'm happy and healthy while on them. They just do not pay any attention to what they're doing or what their patients need. I wouldn't touch The Counseling Center again with a 10 foot pole unless I was paid an exuberant amount of money. And even then I'm sure would still complain. 0/5 would not recommend to anybody who needs actual monitoring and medication management.

Untrained and Unprofessional staff. Counselors. are not attentive. The help there is very stoic and very clinical. They. Do. not care about the Clients. Breakfast is substandard human food. Same thing with lunch. It's an insurance cash grab. They care about the money that comes in through the insurances of the clients or patients. Most of the groups and activities there are redundant. and repetitious daily. The people there are uncomfortable with the way things are run. But they do not have any say so in changing anything. Even the transportation to pick clients up in the morning is awful they are rarely punctual and lie about their closeness to the clients home. It's a poorly run facility with poorly background checked employees in a rundown building which houses certain pests which travel to and from the program to individuals homes. Clients needs are rarely met.

Do not use! Extremely unprofessional. I showed up for first therapy appointment. I had concerns because everything seemed to be geared towards addiction. My first appointment was 2.50 hr assessment. They told me my therapiat was Gregg. Well Gregg didn't find it important enough to even read my assessmen (are you kidding me)? He knew nothing about me, nothing about my medical back ground, and all I get are phone calls and emails pushing more drugs for mental health. Run far and fast from this place! My time is more valuable than dealing with these rookies.

I strongly caution anyone considering this mental health office. My experience with the nurse practitioner was extremely troubling. During my appointment, I was verbally mistreated and rushed, despite coming in with serious concerns following the recent loss of my mother. My symptoms and medical needs were dismissed, and when I requested a renewal for a critical medication I have been on for cyclic vomiting syndrome, I was abruptly denied and even disrespectfully labeled an “addict.” This decision put me at serious risk, as this medication requires careful tapering, and abrupt discontinuation could have caused immediate withdrawal and significant health complications. Unfortunately, this lack of empathy and professional care extends beyond the practitioners. The office staff and program director failed to advocate for patient well-being or ensure that patients are treated respectfully and ethically. Both the nurse practitioner and the office have been reported to local authorities for these actions. I strongly advise seeking care elsewhere. Patients deserve providers who listen, treat them with compassion, and uphold ethical standards—not the dismissive and harmful behavior I experienced here.

I have tried going here on several occasions. If I could rate it lower I would. First time going i was told i was ubgrateful bc my session was covered by the state and i didnt pay put of pocket "people pay $200 for this and you arent paying anyhting but act ungrateful" told i would "grow out of" being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (something that you dont grow out of btw) Was with a therapist who was great but she moved out of network after a month and a half. Contacted them after I had my child bc I felt i was a danger to myself. Was given a handful of pills that made me just sleep and feel worse. So when mentioned i didnt feel better and the thoughts were worse they just upped the dose (within 2 weeks from the last medication) so I had 2 months worth of pills in less than 1 months of treatment while actively telling them I wanted to harm myself and their solution was just throw more pills at me (even though their notes should indicate i have tried to unalive myself with pills prescribed BY THEM in the past) I get it meds help alot of people but just throwing bottles of pills at people isnt how you treat issues.

I have historically sought services from small practices that take that patient center approached. However Horizon promoted this service. I contacted Forge at the beginning of January and have had the most sterile experience. At my last interaction they may be able to see me at the end of February. I have had contact with 3 different staff all of which don't seem to have access to each other's notes. My clinican Aneesah whom I never met and have only emailed has lost in the thread my availability and has told me if I want to see her I need to remind her what I emailed her the day prior. Clear signs she is survive in a toxic work environment and I hope she finds better employment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in New Jersey?
When comparing providers in New Jersey, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in New Jersey?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in New Jersey?
Yes. Mental Health US includes New Jersey providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all New Jersey providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
