There’s nurse practitioner at this facility by the name of Marlene Jean. I wish I could give her zero stars but I’ll give her one for the sake of this review. She’s the most inconsiderate and argumentative person I ever met. From the first appointment when I was assigned to her she made it very clear she didn’t want to help me. I showed her my MRI results twice confirming that I have CSF leak, a compressed thecal sac, a bulging disk in my neck, bone spurs from my compressed sac and malchari. I explained to her I’ve had two lumbar puncture procedures which now causes me a lot of back pain. I asked her for a temporary handicap sticker due to all the pain and she denied me because she said my MRI doesn’t say I’m in pain like what??? She questioned me like I was in an interrogation room about MY OWN HEALTH. The absolute worst doctor do not recommend STAY AWAY FROM HER!

This is my first time in treatment for my depression and alcohol use. Brent and Erin did an AMAZING job at breaking through my trauma walls and making things connect in a way that made me understand it and I felt seen, heard, and appreciated while in their presence. This facility has great potential and is great in a lot of areas - however, please, please, PLEASE for the sake of all the current clients, please consider your current staffing levels before accepting more intakes than the staff can handle. Redirect new people if you are too full, all clients suffer when the staff is worn so thin. I will update my review fully once my program is fully completed - but overall this program literally saved my life. I love most of y’all and thank you!!!

I had a very disappointing experience at Orlando Recovery Center, and I would strongly caution others to thoroughly research before choosing this facility. From the beginning, I felt that leadership lacked professionalism and compassion. My interactions with the CEO, Vicki Garner, and Clinical Director Alex Cole were particularly troubling—they came across as dismissive, condescending, and more focused on protecting the facility than addressing patient concerns. One of the most serious issues during my stay was related to medical care. I was given the wrong medication by nursing staff and experienced delays in receiving medications I had already reported at intake. When errors were brought up, the responses felt minimal and did not reflect the level of accountability I expected in a healthcare setting. This raised real concerns about patient safety. The overall environment of the facility also needs improvement. Cleanliness was an issue in several areas, including laundry machines and group rooms. The equipment in the gym was outdated and in poor condition, and many amenities advertised—such as a “gourmet chef”—did not match the reality. Food options were limited, and access to basic items like snacks and beverages was unnecessarily restricted. There were also concerns about organization and structure. Rules were inconsistently enforced by staff, and some behavioral health technicians came across as unprofessional or difficult to approach. Therapy sessions felt generic rather than individualized, and I did not feel like there was a strong focus on personalized recovery plans. Safety was another concern. During my stay, there were multiple altercations between clients, and I did not observe a consistent security presence. This created an uncomfortable and, at times, unsafe atmosphere. Case management appeared overwhelmed, with very high client loads. However, I do want to acknowledge Troy Garric, who stood out as professional, supportive, and genuinely helpful—he was one of the few positives during my experience. Overall, I left feeling that the facility prioritized operations and insurance over patient care and individualized treatment. If you are seeking a recovery center that offers attentive medical care, a clean and supportive environment, and truly personalized therapy, I would recommend carefully considering other options.

Orlando Recovery Village has been a truly positive experience. The environment is welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free, which made it easier to open up and connect with others. The group leaders are compassionate, attentive, and genuinely care about everyone’s well-being. Being able to share experiences and hear from people facing similar challenges helped me feel less alone and more understood. I’ve gained valuable coping strategies, emotional support, and encouragement through every session. I would highly recommend this group to anyone looking for a safe space to talk, heal, and grow emotionally. The staff is awesome.

I am excited to take this moment to commend several staff members at windmoor Clearwater unit 34. this was my first time in a hospital institution and I was certainly skeptical upon admittance first day or two. I was in this facility, May 26 to June 2 and what I saw there was inspiring. I have never been around a group of people that show such compassion, patience and consideration for others. Ms. Bogumila,Ms Shelley and Ms Aleskandra were absolutely wonderful. Mr. Corey Took time to counsel me individually on my medication when I was weary of how things were going. Dr. Felix has a very straightforward way of doing things which at first made me weary But his advice was sound and straight to the point after I was able to follow the plan given to me Along with Ms Valerie, who explained things with detail and care. Ms Mariam upon her first time meeting me delivered a short conversation to me that Ill remember forever with the sternness and sensitivity of a loving aunt. And Miss Sandy, who sat behind the computer And controlled the unit like The leader of a superhero team. I can’t speak for any other unit But what I saw in unit 34 for the dates mentioned above amazed me and they’ve helped me to be on a better path to deal with my PTSD and bipolar. Sincerely, thank you For not only helping me through this set of circumstances but for leaving an impression on me that helps me to believe in people again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Florida?
When comparing providers in Florida, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Florida?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Florida?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Florida providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Florida providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
