The dietician here, Dakota is absolutely amazing and truely cares about every client. Unfortunately there were some staffing issues and nurses that would come in not trained. The daily techs did amazing supporting the clients and there was a lot of support in the environment. Carlene is the heart of this place and there are definitely more that helped my recovery.

This place is great as far as somewhere to go to get food and assistance with being homeless or broke or needing food. Basically I've been there before and they were nothing but exceptionally helpful nice went out of their way to help me make sure I was fed clothed and safe. I couldn't say enough good things about them but the reason I gave it three stars is because they have a counseling place too where they also do drug and alcohol treatment. I'm probably being someone unfair doing a lower score because I've been forced to go there multiple times by conditions imposed on me by the court or probation but with that said I don't really love the way there treatment program works. I suppose I wouldn't really like any treatment program because I'm not interested in treatment whatsoever so there's that. Lol

CHR is the worst place to get any sort of mental help. If I could give zero stars I would. Receptionist has no care in the world. Was supposed to be there at 10 for my appointment and they proceeded to tell me I should have been there at 9:30 to fill out paperwork. Why didn’t you schedule me for 9:30 then? Makes absolutely no sense. Then I’m told the intake guy has another appointment at 11…. THAT’S AN HOUR FROM THE TIME I SHOWED UP, and he cancelled. Do better… it’s a wonder people aren’t killing themselves because of the careless workers at CHR. All they want is money, they don’t give a shit about you.

If you are symptomatic you will be told to calm down and then told they're not accepting patients at this time when you dare to call them out for their immediate response observing a symptomatic patient of "calm down" ~ Don't expect any compassion or friendliness or expertise or effective communication, and don't call after lunch cause they will answer and resent you for having called like you forced them to pick up instead of extrapolating that they're trying to digest their food in peace. Also the phone number on their website goes to a default generic voice-mail and the email on the website is disabled, so there's that. Be weary, my friends.

I have a dear friend who is an alcoholic. Usual type of history, multiple hospitalizations, and treatment centers. Years of sobriety, followed by another crash. Each deeper than the last. I had her join me and wait in the waiting area while I had my session. She met and chatted with other clients. She made an appointment. Long story short, their approach helped her in her recovery. That, and tough love on my part. She's been sober for a great number of years. She was able to face her demons and come to terms with reality. And is in a caring long term committed relationship. That's what sound can do for those who are truly ready and put in the really hard work.

I’ve been with them for about two years now and have had some great therapists but the office to make appointments are honestly very disorganized and not consistent. I’ve been trying to set up with a new therapist for over two weeks now and have yet to get anyone. I’ve had 2 what I thought were for sure appointments and never got a email or follow up or anything and Elizabeth also had a attitude which she has no real reason to be when I’m the client who’s been led on for longer than necessary. The Norwalk location doesn’t seem to be much different either, this is honestly just a whole mess.

This place is the biggest scam ever! If I could have I would have given it no stars! Felicia Naduku, and an ex employee Dr. Karlson kept me going there for almost twenty years saying I was Bi-Polar. I spent 7 of those 20 in out of institutions under their commitment powers. I now without any assistance or hindrance from the helping profession that help$ themselves have been medication and problem free for over 3 years now. With no explanation as to how this is possible. In fact the entire field of psychiatry can't explain it. Stay Away! You have been warned!

The reviews clearly don’t lie. I decided to give this place a chance thinking I wouldn’t have to speak with Dr. Julie not knowing even if you click 3 to speak with Jay she still listens to all of the voicemails and will call you back. I’ve been struggling with anxiety for a while and Dr. Julie’s call to me over billing made things even worse. I think Dr. David Krulee is a great doctor but unfortunately will not continue care with him or deal with this office ever again. Not to mention they overcharged me for my copay and when I called to ask about updating and hopefully refund me for the overcharge Dr. Julie got upset with me and told me I made her other “employee” upset as well.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Keep your kids away at all cost as this is corrupt DCF run organization. They violate parents' rights will look into all your DCF and court records and lie like in my situation where there is some court order all of a sudden saying they no long have to communicate with me about my child's progress. My rights were not terminated! I still have joint legal custody. a sibling, and grandparents were not even taken into consideration as they too are supports for my child attending Solnit. Don't count on this place helping you with Reunification efforts if your family has been alienated by the abusive parent, who catches 5 DCF cases a year.

My mom was a resident on the skilled nursing unit of 5 Ramage for nearly 4 years. I recently transferred my mother to another facility for a few different reasons. The first reason is that over the years, there has been a tremendous turnover of staff and the new staff members were not providing enough stimulating activities/events for the residents. Also, aside from physical therapy, no one was encouraging my mother to walk on a daily basis. She would be left sitting on a recliner in her room day in and day out. However, there are some staff members who I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the years who have provided excellent care to my mom and I would like to mention them; Jaime, the nurse on 5 Ramage is a patient, compassionate, and understanding nurse who is always willing to listen and goes above and beyond in caring for the patients on that floor. Also, Maria, the CNA was always very attentive to my mother's needs.

This past April and May I was a client @ the APT Men's residential; brace yourself to hear my experience. All the staff with the exception of the director Dan, assistant director Adam S, and clinician Adam O, were ethical and professional. As you read my review you'll understand my indifference. The afternoon of April 30th, 2025, Adam O had me sign "successful discharge" paperwork, to be discharged the following morning May 1st. That evening two clients ( both younger) I met in the program were having an altercation with another client. The guys I know were going into the bathroom to resolve the issue. Being an Ordained Minister, I went along to hold the guys to there word that they would not further escalate the issue. After imparting positive constructive advice, and because the third unknown individual was making sexual derogatory comments, I removed myself from the bathroom. Shortly after the two guys I know came rushing out. The guys told me that the other guy fell while attempting to pursue them to urinate on them. Nothing from that situation was a issue for the rest of the evening. The next morning while in group, an anxiously awaiting, and expecting to depart, I was summoned to my Clinician Adam O's office. He greeted me and engaged me in small talk about my rotater cuff tear shoulder injury. Within a couple of minutes, Hartford Parole unit, along with my parole officer, aggressively barged into the office and ambushed me as if I was wanted fugitive for a serious crime. No one informed me of or why I was being apprehended in such aggressive manner. I was in utter fear, as parole cuffed me to perp walk me out to the car, where there was a slew of parole officers lined up and down the walkway, to the APT Foundation. All I was told by my parole officer, is that I was being transported to New Haven Correctional Center, and remanded into custody. When we got there the other two guys I knew were already there, and they both began yelling out, " why is he here he had nothing to do with that incident" over and over. Then my parole officer said " you are remanded for your involvement in yesterday's altercation". I was in complete disbelief. I told her if someone had asked me or spoke to me about that, they would have learned; not only was I not involved in it; I attemted to deescalate it. The APT Foundation flipped the script and file an incident report stating they are "unsuccessfully discharging" me, because they have a "zero tolerance policy against physical violence". Like parole, they to ignored the facts that I was not involved in the incident and didnot physically abuse anyone, which was falsely alluded to in there reports of the incident. I will be attaching those reports for viewing soon. That said, be on Your p's and q's so these same antics don't happen to you should you choose to go Into that program. I returned to get my property (which included my coin collection) to find out Dan the director failed to secure it or gave it away to another client without my permission. Based on my experience, I would not recommend anyone to that program.

I came to Mountainside hoping for support and structure. What I got instead was a mess of contradictions and unnecessary power plays. The no-phone policy is completely over the top. Cutting people off from essential communication—especially during such a vulnerable time—is not just cruel, it’s counterproductive. You’re told to “build a support system,” then punished for trying to stay in touch with it.

My daughter attended Newport for 35 days. Coming from a parents standpoint I would say Newport was ok. The communication between staff and with parents is not good at all. Trying to get information and updates is like pulling teeth. Some staff seem just there to be there while others really cared about the kids. My daughter has said there were some people she connected very well with while others were not friendly. I do believe the staff who worked with my daughter did really try to help her however some of them seemed to see her as another messed up kid who they needed to help. The two people she connected with were her family therapist and the music teacher. The family therapist who's name was Maddie really connected with her and cared. She was great at showing her compassion and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Connecticut?
When comparing providers in Connecticut, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Connecticut?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Connecticut?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Connecticut providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Connecticut providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
