If you care about your mental health or your child’s mental health do NOT come here. If there’s a longer wait somewhere else please wait if you can. Of course if it’s an actual emergency go to the ER. Once an established patient the communication is terrible. No one responds about appointments made. Which means if you can’t make an appointment they won’t answer the phone and then drop you as a patient. Recently dropped a minor with no care plan as they are telling the child’s mother she explains some pretty stressful family things going on and how she’s unable to reach the office and they simply said “it’s the rules”. They need to do better when playing with lives. Especially the lives of our youth. Please spare yourself the trouble.

Hello this is for the behavior health department. I’ve been seeing them for about a year or more and I honestly feel like the whole time was a waste . I had two different therapist while there and don’t feel like neither one of them helped me . They made me feel discouraged 🫤 and bothered , not one time after a session did I feel better. Most times I was still upset or uneasy about things , I will speak and get little to no response. When it came to my job and taking time off due to my mental they moved really slow with the paper work . My therapist Terry held my paper work for my job , I went to pick it up at 1pm and I waited until 1:33 for her to walk in the office . When she walked in the officer she didn’t acknowledge me, she walked right by me told another patient she’ll be right with them . Went into her office came out , grabbed someone that came after me and started a whole session so I had to wait there for an hour and still didn’t get the paper work for my job . The old lady 👵 at the front desk is so careless and rude . Instead of helping me solve problems they created more problems , I just feel like the therapist that work here does not care . I’m young and I need someone that actually cares about their job want to get to know all their patients . Not a therapist that soon as I have a disagreement with they recommend to close my case out . Not once did Terry suggest this but twice , as black young women I was excited to have a black therapist but sadly my psychiatrist 👩‍⚕️ made me feel more comfortable than my therapist. After sessions with my psychiatry I will feel a little lighter , I was able to cry express myself . I wish it was a way for me to see my psychiatrist still without dealing with a Cornell Scott as a whole ! Just horrible

I have had only positive experiences at Wheeler in Waterbury. The staff has been great in tailoring my treatment plan as it relates to my personal continued success in recovery. To mention specifically, Janet Nieves, Deb Daniels, Mojisola Ukabi, and Leslie Jones. I truly appreciate the work this team has done for me so far!

I was a patient at Apt for nearly 7 years. About two years ago, I started expressing a desire to taper off MAT. However, I noticed that every time I brought it up, the clinicians actively dissuaded me from doing so. Eventually, I transitioned to a different provider and simply stopped showing up. Apt only called me a single time to check in. It is deeply concerning that a patient of nearly a decade could just disappear with almost zero follow-up. While recovery is ultimately an individual responsibility, I think of all the vulnerable people who might fall off from treatment and face disastrous consequences because this clinic lacks the urgency to reach out and encourage them to return. No other medical practice would let a long-term patient vanish with just one phone call. If you have to use Apt, you must advocate for yourself. Do not let them steer your decisions—you know your body and your recovery goals better than they do. Additionally, it is incredibly frustrating that they use a constant rotation of psychiatrists from Yale as you are forced to get to know someone new and retell your entire story all over again every few months, leaving no room for consistent, personalized care. While the systemic issues and the lack of follow-up are major problems, I did have some helpful and constructive interactions with individual clinicians and providers over the years, which is why I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1.

I saw all the bad reviews and realized that I should probably write a good one. This place saved my life, and it was such an Amazing experience. I was a patient in 2019 at 12 years old, and I don’t think I’d be here today without this place assisting in my recovery journey. I didn’t like all of the staff, but in the end they were all caring people who wanted nothing more than the best for me. When I got home I missed the place, and I made some friends there that I still talk to today. Truly an amazing place with the best treatment around.

I was assigned and have a court order to call and reach out regarding my minor child and I spoke with a person specifically a women named “MARCIA”, she was very much rude !!! she was not trying to listen or hear me out. She gave me a disgusting attitude and I am highly upset about how she handled my situation. I called back and asked for a supervisor and she stated that she is the “higher up” and It’s sad that these type of people work for the state and environment that have no consideration of listening or speaking to someone in my position. inhumane.

Drug Activity and Overdoses in Treatment Centers being “NORMALIZED ”! —————————-Stonington Institute Groton is full of drugs! Patients are buying selling and trading for drugs, cigs, mj pens and even prison tattoos in a treatment facility? Fighting, bullying and gang activity are being ignored! No cameras and no security! OD’s are suddenly “Normal”! It’s a free for all! Heard a fight over the phone and hours later when my husband arrived there was someone being wheeled into an ambulance on a gurney! They heard someone yell out; “another overdose”! I was told there were overdoses here on a regular basis by my reliable Recovery Support Group Network! My husband and I didn’t believe it! Another drug/alcohol counselor told me she picked up a client of hers just the other day! He too said the place was loaded with drugs and there was fighting and that he begged her to write an anonymous review! Why anonymous? Let’s get this out there! Please don’t send your loved ones to a drug infested unsupervised program like this! When challenged I had drug/alcohol counselors telling me this was the “Norm”? This is NOT normal! OD’s, drug use, fighting, gang activity is NOT and should NOT EVER be ACCEPTED as the “NORM”! ANYWHERE especially a TREATMENT/REHAB Facility! We want our loved ones to get HELP and be safe! Thank you! I hope this is investigated ASAP!

I came there excited with expectations to get sobriety. Only to walk into utter chaos! Extremely unsanitary, unprofessional staff, mold and mil-due smell of throughout the facility. Fingerprints on all over the walls. carpet’s extremely filthy. One bathroom to 12 men as small as a porter potty. Extremely unsanitary and no one cares. No structure for a safe environment.

So…this is a review that i had trouble writing. And it’s not because of the property or the Drs or Nurses that work there. FYI The Drs and Nurses are wonderful and caring. I couldnt be happier with how they treated my family. 100% respect to them. The facility was clean and they kept us updated on how our family member was doing. The issue is with the non medical staff that sit behind these windows and do whatever they do. Theyre not mean theyre not rude but theyre minds not there. I mean you would think that when you see someone waiting for 14 hours youd maybe say something to update the family and AT LEAST REMEMBER THE PATIENTS NAME after 6 questions mentioning the patients name. It’s like they have no short term memory!! That was extremely frustrating and the same kinda robot with aphantasia. It’s disappointing by ng but hey ya cant have everything. I think a computer screen that lets you look up the name and find the updated status. Maybe theyll do that.

I made an appointment two months ago, told I would receive an email prior to my appointment to set up the portal. Never received an email and my appointment was cancelled without any notification. They had a wrong email, which I understand, but no one could have called before cancelling? Now I would have to wait for another appointment? Very unorganized and unsympathetic for the field they are in. Very disappointed.

I am currently a client in recovery with Continuum of Care. This company saved my life by, even after multiple setbacks, extending their hand and offering the opportunity to prove to both myself and others that I have what it takes to live a productive and independent life, free from the crippling trauma and poor decision-making that brought me to my lowest point. Mental health doesn’t improve overnight and yes, many cases are worse than others but if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the finish line is but a fantasy.

This practice, the staff, and specifically Aprn Hu have zero ethics and morals. I was referred here. I had my initial intake and scheduled my next appointment for one month later. I’ve called the office numerous times and spoke with the front desk as well as her receptionist and nothing has been documented My intake visit 90% of my conversation was not documented. A day prior to my follow up appointment I was told I was no longer a patient and my visit was canceled and nobody from the office ever reached out to me to tell me so. The day before my follow up, I started calling the office, demanding an explanation as to why this was occurring and nobody will return my phone calls. I called every day up until that Monday so four days of calls with no callbacks and my medication was supposed to be refilled, which was not. finally, when I get to speak to her receptionist, I am told that they document all calls and they insisted they had conversations with me. They never had and refused to refill any of my medication‘s, That should not be abruptly stopped. I strongly encourage anybody to stay far away from this practice, especially nurse practitioner hu. A practice is supposed to give you a 30 day supply upon discharge which they said they did not ! They stated they did not have to do because they insisted they had a conversation with me the previous month that I will no longer be seen which was not the case. I will be making a very strong complaint to the board.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Connecticut?
When comparing providers in Connecticut, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Connecticut?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Connecticut?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Connecticut providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Connecticut providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
