If i could leave a 0 I would. Listen to this my mom went there she has chf and copd. She went in for shingles and a severe ear ache. She went to triage, the nurse didnt want to get a bigger cuff so she put it on her forearm upside down and with the stethoscope on the outside of the arm. When we told her it wasn't going to read bc she tried like 4 times.. due to the size and placement she perked it off my mom huffed at us and said follow me took us to a room and slammed the door. When someone else came in it was a man he said whats ur problem. His badge said tech. She asked are u a dr he said yes im a intern. She then said when is the dr going to come in he said their busy they won't. She told him what was wrong and he looked at her ear from about a foot away no tools used and said I dont see anything wrong well get a chest xray and blood work for your heart. She said nothings wrong with my heart he said we'll your chart says u have chf so that's what we'll treat. I am attaching pictures of the er room there were dead roaches all over. We left when he was still in the room bc there was a roach that crawled across the BED ALIVE!!!! HE TOLD HER TO STOP BEING DRAMATIC!!!!!!! I know this hospital is associated with Huntsville hospital. I will be calling and sending formal inquiries to them as well as a lawyer!!!!

Today was my first visit and I must say this place has been amazing to me. The doctor listened to my concerns and we set up a plan to get me back on track. The lady at the front desk was so sweet and answered my questions and the lady who takes the vitals made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I didn't have to wait long and everyone greeted me with a smile. I highly recommend this place if you don't have insurance like me and need to get your health back on track.

I called once and got through to a woman who told me their facilities were all MAT programs and if meds were prescribed by your Dr. you could take them, yet I've been given the run around by co-occuring and my counselor at coffee county mental health said he has NEVER had to do so many referrals and assessments just for a person to get into rehab. a couple of weeks ago I tried to call spectracare back and was asked 50 questions about why I was calling and when they put me on hold to put me through to someone; it rang several times and they picked up and hung up. my gut tells me since they're all state run agencies they're in bed with DHR - who doesn't want me to get in a facility so I'll lose custody of my daughter. Dale,Pike counties have already been sued for falsifying drug screens so they could get the bonus when they placed a child in a foster home. Most likely happening in coffee county too.

I went here they really work with women here but you get discharged for the smallest and stupidest reasons. Really your fate is up to your faith with the Most High and in the want for wanting your situation to change. Remember every staff member have their favorites and mostly Ms.Shun and Ms.Tacara were very kind. I still ended up blessed after leaving this place. And it hurts me to see some of the women now that i attended that place with. It didnt help their situation at all theyre in front of corner stores some walking the streets some have died from drug overdose. They really do this for the money and not for you. You got to care enough for you to make progress in your life. It was a wonderful experience but be prepared to be mistreated most days. I went because of a house fire and was already dealing with dhr and i needed a stable place …i stayed a bit longer than my graduation day because of the fire (i had no place to go) and ended up getting kicked out over an argument with another client there and surprisingly they let that girl stay. I ended up with custody of my kids still, a home, good job, drug free, and a nice Mercedes. On the other hand the trash i got kicked out for is a full blown crackhead. So proceed with precautions because this place is something else. Most of the nice staff that was there when i was there ended up quitting bc of how poorly staff treated us.

Incredibly difficult to set up an appointment or reschedule in a couple WEEKS not multiple MONTHS away. Also, you REALLY oughta be able to call your local doctor's office. Not call and talk to a random person that types out a message to send and maybe you'll get a call back. GOOD LUCK if they ever call you back and you're at work and can't answer, you'll have to restart the whole process over. And so help you if you show up 5 minutes late...but I've waited well over 40+ minutes on at least 2 occasions. Extremely hypocritical and treat you like a customer, not a patient.

I go to this clinic daily along with my wife. They seem to have a problem with keeping decent employees and as someone who has worked in management for years they do a terrible job of vetting the employees working up front with the customer. They had a great employee that either left or quit, and the ones there now refuse to work and do their jobs. My wife's Medicaid is usually filled by the 4th of the month, it only took the other employee 3 minutes to do the entire thing. Now the person says she doesn't care if we need money for bills, she has too much to do and she has until the 27th to get it done. No empathy whatsoever. It's a shame that you have to go all the way to Grand Bay for a decent clinic in Mobile county now. It wasn't always like that.

To the person who blamed a previous reviewer for being chronically late w/Dr. Adams. I used to see her too and she really helped to turn my life around to the point where my career actually started blossoming after letting go of some harbored emotional pain and gaining some overdue clarity in my life. Like that reviewer, I had to reschedule a couple appointments because I now worked out if town and I was also told I couldn't see her anymore due to this same policy reason. Which was a deflating experience because I really wanted to share w/Dr.Adams how much she helped me and looked forward to more sessions. Long story short, everyone is not here to waste time & I wish she could have made an exception for me and whomever else really needed it. Hopefully, the search for another therapist turned out to be just as beneficial. I'm currently seeking one myself.

This place is dangerous for women to be at. They do a horrible job separating the men from women and the men were always hitting on me. They started putting men on our hall, there were some nights that only 1 tech was there. We were very outnumbered. Feeling safe is one of the most important things in a treatment setting, especially for women dealing with trauma. I did not feel safe at all. I was only going here to detox for 10 days and move onto my actual treatment center. They held me there for THREE WEEKS. Saying they would do all the blood work and EKG I needed to get into the next place. They would tell me I had appts to do them then never take me. I was there from out of state and I felt trapped because I desperately needed to go the other rehab. Their detox is a joke. They let me lay down for a day and expected me to be up early and going to classes and groups. That makes a hard situation worse when you feel miserable. One of the nurses gave me medication that wasn’t mine and covered it up when he realized it. Told me not to tell anyone and he wouldn’t either. This is the absolute worst place I have ever been to, rehab or not. I cried when I got to the car to leave. The building and rooms are GROSS. I could go on and on. Do not go here or send a loved one.

It is difficult if not impossible to get an appointment that is not months away. You have to jump through hoops and see multiple people before you can see the doctor, and even once you do that it will be a month or two before you see an MD, because there are only a few days the doctor is there. I haven't had a problem actually getting the doctor to prescribe the antidepressants which I know work for me, like I have had with other doctors, but my depression got much worse over the months I had to wait to actually see the doctor. In other words, the service you get here is good, but having to wait so long to get it can be very detrimental to people with severe problems.

For anyone looking to send their kid here, don’t. I went here when I was 15, and I witnessed something that traumatized me very much. One night, the staff got into an argument with my roommate over the door to our bedroom. He wanted to close it, but wanted him to leave it open. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, they restrained him to the bed with excessive force like I’ve never seen. Then this one staff member gets on top and punches him in the face several times. My heart sank when this happened. The worst part is that they tried to say that he hit first, but that’s not true. I witnessed the whole thing, and he didn’t lay a hand on the staff member. Other than that, the environment felt like a prison. Heck, even the food was on par with prison food. All around awful place that should’ve been shut down years ago.

They are the most friendliest best place I’ve ever been in my life. I’ve been to a few doctors and their group. Their team was unprofessional at Cahaba Medical. You receive good friendly help the man that you walk in the door and when you go to the back wow the ladies back there are wonderful. I would never go anywhere else. They helped me when I didn’t have a dollar to my name and that I’m I’m so happy of I went yesterday. I had the best service. The doctor was absolutely wonderful. I had no problem at all even though I had called an October and made a better of myself talking to them and I want to apologize to the whole group but they didn’t react to it yesterday they still treated me like .they always do so if you’ve got anything wrong with you and I don’t care it’s not that far from Montevallo it’s just just as far as Alabaster as it is to Cahaba Medical and Centerville. I love y’all shout out great group. Keep it up good work it’s 55-year-old man has been to a few doctors best place I’ve ever visited. Love you all

Positives: In-house lab for blood work that is reasonably fast and efficient. You can get an appointment within 3-4 days typically. Excellent patient portal where you can email your doctor, view test results, etc. They will give referrals if you see the doctor first about the condition that needs a referral.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Alabama?
When comparing providers in Alabama, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Alabama?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Alabama?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Alabama providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Alabama providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
