I am a heartbroken parent whose severely mentally ill son has been failed by the mental health system — most notably by Eastern State Hospital and Bridges Mental Health Facility in Washington State. Eastern State Hospital released my son — who suffers from a serious psychiatric illness — into a motel room in Ellensburg with nothing but a bag full of his psychiatric medications. Just days later, he attempted to take his own life using the very medications the hospital gave him, and nearly succeeded. He was found and rushed to the ICU in critical condition. This tragic event was entirely preventable and highlights a serious lack of care and oversight. After stabilizing in the ICU, he was sent to Bridges in Yakima for six weeks. Unfortunately, the same pattern repeated. He was discharged to Royal Halfway House in the Tri-Cities, and within just two hours of arriving, he escaped. He was missing for an entire month — with no clear plan in place for his supervision or safety. Eventually, we learned he had somehow made it to Walla Walla, where he has now been arrested three separate times, including once for indecent exposure. I still have no idea how he even got there. He is clearly not well and continues to cycle through crises, while the very institutions meant to protect and treat him have repeatedly released him into unstable and unsafe situations. Both Eastern State Hospital and Bridges Mental Health Facility must be held accountable for these deeply irresponsible decisions. Releasing a severely mentally ill individual with a bag of powerful medications, no real safety net, and no long-term support is not treatment — it’s abandonment. If you are a loved one of someone with serious mental illness, please know: this system is broken, and those we trust to care for our most vulnerable often fail them.

Terrible... unreliable, inconsistent, unorganized, incompetent. If you want a one way ticket to jail every month for submitting of noncompliance due to disorganization and/or loss of paperwork, go here. I don't know who this lady is doing favors for in pierce County but she must be doing something to be this unaccountable and still supported as a court approved class.

The intake process was smooth, but from there, everything is chaotic and disorganized. Inattentive, inconsistent therapists. Frustrating Labyrinth to get medication refilled, no urgency or immediate care available. Lack of providers with knowledge of autism and other neurodivergent needs.

I would be called and have my sessions cancelled multiple times same day notice or asked to do remote sessions which I specifically went to them so I could have in person. The last straw for me was canceling with less than an hours notice. I live quite a bit away and find it extremely unprofessional the amount of times there have been changes same day. As a client I get charged if I cancel same day and to not even give an hours notice is absurd.

I'm so excited to have found this place for counseling! I'm originally from Vancouver WA and had to temporarily relocate due to a house fire. The counseling place I had before was great but it was going downhill and I needed a change. Consejo is proving to be definitely a great change. Not only did I have a good experience from the first phone call, I was assigned to probably one of the better counselors I've had. Sadly it was for a short time, but I think I learned more from her than what I have been attempting to learn in the past few years with the other people that I have worked with. My medication doctor is fantastic and helpful and explained in easy to understand language what I was experiencing with some of the medications that I had been prescribed wasn't probably the best, so we tweaked my medication to be a good combination and I'm feeling better now than I expected. I like it when I have to have a little bit of "homework" to talk about when I meet back with the doctor or my counselor and I have that. I'm not exactly sure if I am ever going to be all fixed up and put in a new pretty box, because I am not even ashamed of my "assortment of awesomeness" I was given with the genetic pool. Learning how to get through this life with the genetic pool of awesomeness I was given is that much easier to handle now that I have Consejo counseling.

Dont recommend for neurodivergent people, they instead blame you for your symptoms and tell you to try harder even with a diagnosis. Find a different psychiatrist if you can find one in network.

Columbia River Mental Health is a Medicaid meat farm. They had one mental health provider - in their 80s - who was available to meet in person. That didn't work out; and they placed me with a virtual therapist from Louisiana; all while charging me full price for a lesser service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you have private insurance.

I went into core health Centralia and filled out the stack of papers for my daughter to get an intake appointment. After doing so they called me and scheduled her intake appointment. The appointment has been canceled twice over the last almost two months a few days before the appointment each time. They said the intake person is out of the office. Fast forward to today 2/13/2025 my daughters intake appointment which I was told was a phone appointment. (I specifically asked when they rescheduled her as I thought a phone appointment was odd and she confirmed yes phone appointment) Well I get a call five minutes after the appointment time asking if I was having trouble logging in. I explained that I was told phone appointment and never received a log in. This intake lady said it was sent the same day and I checked again and no email. I was told we can reschedule and that she was actually a supervisor and would be addressing what I was telling her so it doesn’t happen again. She also said she had been out the last two weeks with the flu and she is the only one who does intakes. It’s been almost two months not two weeks they have been canceling on us. I will add that she was very short and cut me off every-time I spoke. Her customer service skills were poor at best and It was very rude. We have decided to take our services elsewhere. This place has been a huge waste of our time and my child could have been seen elsewhere by now. I do not recommend Core heath as I feel they lack care and importance for one’s mental health. This office is a mess.

Why am I writing this review? Because this office staff is horrible, the ARNP put words in my mouth in her report and I am disgusted. As a mom of 4 and having been around a long time, I know my rights as a patient, what is supposed to happen in these appointments and know how to advocated for myselfHopefully, you will choose someone different. I was referred for med management, due to Long COVID exasperating my anxiety and ADHD last fall. I got the runaround about the paperwork. I think I filled out the paperwork twice online before my intake. I am seeing a nurse practitioner and have NEVER see the actual doctor everyone seems to like in the other reviews. They make appointments for their patients WITHOUT contacting them first, a clear violation of courtesy or healthcare professionalism and and second, a violations of patient rights. I had to call and reschedule an appointment they made without consulting me due to time conflicts. I chewed the gentleman out after he made excuse after excuse. He eventually rescheduled my appointment for 0930 PT on 3/7/23. I then immediately, while on the phone with him, made a note in my calendar. They messed up and scheduled my appointment for 9:30 ET (6:30 PT) instead of 9:30 PT. I saw the wrong time and left a message on 3/6 regarding this screw-up. When I called this morning, they tried to insinuate it was my fault and I could still be charged for the appointment. This was CLEARLY an error on their part and I shouldn't have to pay for it. Within the packet was an entire list of history questions, which I answered in full detail. My PCP received the notes from the initial and last two visits. There were multiple errors in the statements she says I made, she had made assumptions about certain medications I never indicated, and somehow I had a full "physical" exam listed yet this was a telehealth appointment. Very unprofessional and I am greatly disappointed. I just wanted help in alleviating my ADHD and anxiety that had been exasperated due to Long COVID. Nothing heavy duty and they still couldn't get it right.

This place is very calm and comforting. B u t! If your issue cannot be solved in 1 week to a month, don't bother going here. They always put you off because theres such a large influx of people they have to set you and your needs aside if you aren't in chrisis. This means if you suffer from c-ptsd, ptsd, depression, anxiety, things that you aren't able to pill the problem away, they will put your needs on pause. While you are here you're not legally allowed to window shop for therapists elsewhere. Which means if you continue to go here, you can't go anywhere else. Or if you do you have to tell them in advance (as if to ask permission) There is nice small group activities! They are cute and lovely. 2 councilors in a room, (or one councilor and a trainee) and a small hand full of people. Lovely people work here. BUT!! Scheduling is a nightmare. Also if you can't see someone in 3 months you're kicked out. Sometimes you don't see a person for an entire month. We had to sit in their office and have the councilor come see me for 10 minutes just so I don't get kicked out and they can count it. If you need your emergency prescription and the pharmacy says they have to ask your psychiatrist, GOOD LUCK! they wont see the message for 3 days and wont be able to see you for a whole month as the soonest. If you run out of meds and they put them back on the shelf and you have to ask them for the prescription to be allowed. Pray. I lost my seizure/bipolar meds for a whole week Because they kept beating around the bush on seeing me, thinking I was some kinda addict. Not getting back to me to see if I would just go away. It wasn't until I spoke with my doctor that they gave me my prescription (this was a medicine given to me by a psychiatrist prior) all they had to do was okay it. They Ghosted me in a way that would have killed me. I tried asking for another therapist and they told me I wasn't a priority and to be patient.

I have been using CVCH since I moved to this area in the early 2000s and they are excellent. I've never had problems from any provider there and most of them have been top notch. Same with the dentists. As a matter of fact; my current dentist there is the best one I've ever had; same with my PCP. Sure; they don't have some specialists but Confluence is close for those. I went to Express Care for a breathing issue at the end of a bout of flu last week; they triaged me immediately; got me in for a chest xray nearly as quickly and I was home with antibiotics and prednisone within the next hour and a half and feeling better already by the next day (it was pneumonia). Highly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Washington?
When comparing providers in Washington, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Washington?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Washington?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Washington providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Washington providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
