I have been a patient of this practice since I was in my 20s. I am 50 now. I had to go bankrupt thanks to my ex husband and situations I couldn’t control. Instead of contacting me and letting me know they dismissed me because of the bankruptcy. I had no debt with them to my knowledge and thought I had a good rapport with them. I used to love this practice but their policies and their doctors have changed and not for the better. I am now going to have to look for another practice and my daughter is sad because she felt comfortable there. It’s not okay that this happened without reaching out to me.

I want to thank Dr. Paracha, my dad's psychiatrist, and Matthew Shelly, his case manager. They've been really helpful these past six months. We've had no hospital visits or emergencies, which is a big success for us. My dad is making progress step by step, and I'm hopeful for his continued improvement. Matthew has played a crucial role in ensuring that we access the right resources to support my dad's journey. Dr. Paracha's careful medication management has also been effective, with no noticeable side effects so far.

The ACT team has gone completely down hill since the best case manager there left several months ago. They are constantly telling people that they are ' short staffed ' when they ask for assistance and now they simply ignore clients altogether when they text or email them. The director of CMH CSB needs to fix these issues before someone decides to take legal action! Do not recommend them at all

Not sure why this place is even in business. A patient has to see a therapist to see the doctor, but the therapists keep quitting, and the patient gets referred elsewhere.

This company is extremely greedy and is out to scam their patients out of money. I missed my first appointment by 30 minutes due to a scheduling issue and they charged me $100 which is unheard of for a doctors office. The second time the power was out in my area and could not log into my appointment for 20 minutes until I found an area where I could get signal. Again they charged me $100 2 weeks before Christmas, even though the power is out of my control. I have been told that they would make a note of this and then next thing I know they charge me $100. BE VERY CAREFUL. THIS PRACTICE IS OUT TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. Very distasteful for a doctors office that is supposed to help patients with mental health issues.

I have debated about writing this. But I think to help other patients I have to. I had an appt with one of the practitioners. one min before my appt I got an e mail saying I needed to fill out a dozen forms. It is entirely possible that it was sent before and I missed it. Fine. My appt was for an hour and 15. I told them I needed med refills as I just moved here. I finished the forms in 11 min. The portal connected me and my provider was absent. I waited 5-10 min. I pinged the front desk. They said they would tell the provider I was on. For 50 min I waited. I pinged them 2-3 more times. I eventually was told the next day they were upset I was late The provider could have logged on for 50 min. 40. 30. She was just too passive aggressive. I am a physician and told them I cannot imagine treating a patient like this. OMG. I’m sorry. I just was e mailed their response. It is totally fabricated. I simply rescheduled far in advance due to my schedule. It had nothing to do with forms. For them to say this. In public. Shows that this group should not have the privilege of taking care of patients. Ok. I’m done

I have to agree with the lady who wrote the last comment, regarding her experience with the Multicultural clinical Center. When I read the two negative comments about this center, I thought there were mistakes. In fact I have received treatment with them, as well as relative and son I recommended , and both of us could not be more satisfied with their services. They have been providing therapy for the past 32 years, and this in itself proves its competency and reputation. Their therapists are very efficient professionals, caring and supportive. I know as a professional myself, that there are unethical competitors trying to make other companies look bad for their benefit , or angry clients who are court involved, and got in trouble for not being complying with their treatment. I felt I needed to write this comment as I know this agency well. I am an inmigration attorney and I recommend this clinic as a very satisfied patient myself.

I went here for same-day access and was refused service because the lady doing intake didn't feel like doing anymore, she felt as though she had done enough for the day. So she lied to me and told me to go to another facility. This is a common occurrence, confirmed by several people. Although there are amazing employees that work there, the people doing same Day Access don't care.

This is an agency that has an extremely high turnover rate for Peer Recovery Specialists. They treat the PRS as if they are not worthy of respect, dignity, value. The PRS are over worked, and underpaid. Case workers have no idea how to work with a PRS. The main focus for this agency is to build the insurance. Those in need of service do not receive proper care. And allegations of staff misconduct are not investigated, and if it is reported, retaliation will come. Charon Dubose is the worse in management, as well as (Carrie), case management coordinator for the behavioral docket in Newport News)

I don’t usually write reviews, but this is one place that truly deserves it. The level of care provided here is something special. From the moment you walk in, you feel that you are not just another patient , you are genuinely seen and heard. The approach is incredibly personalized, and every detail of your treatment is clearly tailored to your specific situation. Dr. Arora is an exceptional doctor . What sets him apart is not only his expertise, but his ability to truly listen — something that is rare to find. He takes the time to understand you, and that makes a profound difference in the care you receive. The entire team is equally wonderful , kind, attentive, and deeply compassionate. They create an environment where you feel supported, comfortable, and even… special. This is not just a clinic. It’s a place where you feel cared for in the fullest sense of the word.

I honestly don't know if I can really say anything good about this place. My husband was hospitalized for a mental health crisis and a crisis intervention team from CIBH showed up at the hospital to talk to him. We received a bill a few weeks later that didn't have our insurance applied so we were able to get a hold of someone to give our insurance information. Fast forward a few weeks and we see that the insurance was billed out of network instead of in network (even though the hospital was an in network provider). We both tried reaching out multiple times to the billing department and would only get the voicemail. We never received any call back. After many attempts to get the bill corrected either through CIBH or insurance, we finally got transferred to a supervisor after stating that the billing department never calls back. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART. We were informed that since no payment was received within 90 days, the account was sent to collections. We received absolutely no notice about this or any kind of warning that accounts are sent to collections after 90 days of no payment. No warning on a bill, no final notice, no phone call. Just straight to collections. Again, we were trying to get the bill corrected, we weren't just not paying a bill. This is a place that treats people during a mental health crisis. They should absolutely NOT be sending people to collections the way they do with no notice. If one mental health crisis wasn't enough for you, try dealing with their joke of a billing department and you may end up having another mental health crisis. I cannot stress enough how unethical their billing and collections practices are.

It's sad to see this business has such hateful reviews. Completely understand people have different experiences but the amazing amount of support my daughter(and even myself at times) have gotten from the staff here has been phenomenal!!! Brooks Floyd has been a great fit for my daughter. Super easy to talk to, understanding, caring and fought for my child to get her TMS therapy started. My daughter's care team was also sooo great...Taunya, Lexi and Emma are especially fantastic. We've never experienced a psychiatrist and staff care for and fight for my daughter's mental well being as much as the staff here has! We will always have nothing but great things to say about being referred to this business and the wonderful things that have happened since! The exceptional staff here go above and beyond what is required of them! They care and it definitely shows! Thank you all for giving my girl back! Anyone reading this....give them a chance!! They're magical!

About the after care alumni program:

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Virginia?
When comparing providers in Virginia, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Virginia?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Virginia?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Virginia providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Virginia providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
