They were kind and caring from the moment we walked in the door. From the security guards to nurses, other staff, etc...We were asked numerous times by staff if we needed anything or if we wanted a snack or drink.

Please research BEFORE you decide to send your child to this place. It's SUPPOSED to be for children with mental disabilities and special needs, but this particular site ( Monroeville) is NOT equipped to deal with them. If they were as efficient in childcare and education as they are in gas lighting parents, this place would be a TOP rated facility. Instead, whenever a situation arises, they call you at work and expect you to drop everything and come and retrieve your child ASAP! I don't know of anyone in this current economy who has the ability to just leave work at their whimsy. I don't believe in my personal opinion they have the knowledge, patience or qualification, to deal with children with special needs as this facility is supposed to be designed for. I was told by the nurse to come and pick up my grandson because he was "sick and throwing up". I explained he wasn't sick when he left home, and that he only threw up because he doesn't like taking his medication. She said "this is how norovirus is spread, and he has a FEVER" I tried repeatedly emphasizing he wasn't sick but to no a vail. With some back and forth she informed me they HAD to send him home. When my grandson came home my daughter immediately checked his temperature. It was 98.7 Personally we feel lied to. This place will find ANY reason to NOT be bothered or take the time to deescalate an unruly child. All the behaviors that have been brought to our attention, aren't any that are common at all in our home. We asked can we please be shown some type of footage of this behavior, so we can see what's triggering him. This sight has NO CAMERAS!!! How can we fix a problem that only takes place when he's in their care? This isn't some unhinged rant of a disgruntled patron...this is a loving grandmother who's done EVERYTHING that's been asked of her and now I'm at the end of my rope.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. This place was the worst place I've ever been. They told me over the phone after I explained everything truthfully they still made an appointment said everything is good. I missed 2 days of work they made an appointment then cancelled me the next morning. I just left this place today. Ive NEVER been treated and lied to so bad by doctors, which there was no doctor even there or even a nurse. Nothing. This place is a scam and lies. They just want your money. They do not care about anything else. They can careless so bad to the point I had to call my insurance and tell them I was never seen, and I asked 7 times before I went here. And yes we can do that yes we can help you. Your better off going ANYWHERE else. This place DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR ANYONE. I instantly called my insurance that's how bad of a scam and slum this place is to tell them that there wasn't a nurse, wasn't a doctor, just a high person telling nope sorry what said over the phone is wrong and treated me like a POS. Save yourself go somewhere else. This place isn't good, the person that seen me was a regular person! No nurse No Doctor and the person was even high, it's gross and disgusting. SCAM. LIES. My insurance company I've never called so fast. If you want to get seen by a person that is high and goto a place without a nurse or Doctor then maybe it's for you but, if YOU need help do not waste your time go ANYWHERE ELSE......

I was a client for atleast 3 yrs. Ive been begging for help and a diagnosis. I dont want to go somewhere and tell them "i have anxiety" "i have depression". I want YOU to test me. Ive been going there atleast 3 yrs, have made NO improvement. Ive been manic, suicidal, etc. Do you think they gave me a blood test to see which meds works best for me? I was never tested for autism, bpd, scitzofrenia, etc. They also saw myself and my daughter......most places wont do that bc its a conflict of interest or whatever. Then i was told i couldnt get my kid on adhd meds or anxiety meds bc they didnt have a kid psychologist there.......then kids shouldnt be seen there........ they didnt help my kid. They would cut sessions short bc they wouldnt talk...... that indicates a problem if theyve been seeing you for years and still not wanting to be social to you. I wasted yrs of my life and didnt get help.

I won’t go into specific details of who is the patient but I’ve been to many different behavioral health practices and this one by far as given me the most hope, the most reliable, professional staff and have made things better in so many ways. The office staff is absolutely the best. I haven’t talked to all of the providers there in a session capacity but the 2 that I have are beyond awesome and all the others are friendly and I would feel comfortable as their patient as well. Thank you!!

Dr. Dana Nicholson is a truly gifted healer. I will forever be grateful for the truth and life she spoke into my life and the challenging times she has supported me through. My life has changed forever for the better. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for Christ-centered counseling rooted in Biblical truth. They have licensed professional counselors to work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Non-Christian counseling is also available to meet you wherever you are in life whatever the circumstances. Of course as in any counseling you must invest your time and energy as well. You reap what you sow. Highly recommended to anyone motivated and ready to change their life for the better!

I gave it 3 stars souly for how amazing the secretary was and I liked the intake person who was also the manager. However, the lady who does the medication is completely checked out! I take certain meds. My ADHD med needed a prior authorization. I waited over a month, maybe more before I gave up and left. My new psychiatrist got my authorization done in a day! A day I say! lol

Do not recommend. They don't know their own intake hours because it "depends on who happens to be in" even though certain hours are listed, they told me I have group therapy on Wednesdays then scheduled me for Friday mornings and no one would pick up the phone besides the front desk who couldn't help, the person emailing me said she had a whole convo with me that never happened about me coming in Friday mornings (I'll get fired if I miss work so no we didn't), (theyre checking now because oopsie they mixed me up with a whole other client), they're just a mess. As soon as I'm out of the ARD program (alcohol only) I'm leaving this place.

I was originally going to give a 1 star review. But Kevin carey one of the therapists there is the reason I decided to give a 4 star rating. He was very kind and helpful to me, he gave good advice and helped me get through treatment there. My first couple nights there was really bad, i had passed out a few times, but of course they put "unwitnessed falls" cause their staff was never around when i needed them, even tho there was people there that saw me fall..i hit my head 3 times out of the 5 or 6 falls I had, I don't remember how much times I had passed out cause I was really out of it.. the first two I hit my head really hard and threw up, but the nurse told me to sleep it off, never got an ambulance the first 2 times, they waited for the 3rd fall to finally call 911. I was cleared, but they definitely didnt do the right tests, having to now follow up with my primary doctor after 9 days of feeling like my head is under water.. Malik the psychiatrist pretty much called me a liar, said it was funny how i have no witnesses, even tho 2 possibly 3 staff members including my mom witnessed me fall.. that was really stessful, and made me immediately hate the place, i wanted help but after that conversayion is when i started to panic and wanting to leave.. not being trusted by a psychiatrist but yet having him prescribe you meds isnt really ideal... After that mess was over and i got better on my feet and no longer needed assistance to walk, Gretchen one of the workers that walks around doing nothing but judge people with her little ipad was the reason my stay there was the most uncomfortable experiences I've had in a while. I'm trans female to male. And I shave my face cause I take testosterone. She was giving me the most disgusted looks in the mirror the whole time I was shaving. I saw the whole thing through the mirror. She then continued to call me a She and her the whole time I stayed. 8 days of her BS.. I cried and was wanting to leave due to the disrespect I got from the other staff members. Constantly having employee's roll their eyes at me when I'd ask for my MEDICATION. It's not like I asked them to do a back flip, I asked for meds and a shower. Like I'm so sorry I'm such an inconvenience to you... But Sandi one of the therapists was also super amazing, her groups were really good, and she was very kind to me too. The only reason I'd ever go back is because of kevin, Sandi, Johnathan and some of the night staff..Thank you to these people for making my stay a little better!

Only giving 1 star because the counselor Kathy was really great with my daughter following a traumatic experience. My issues are with the doctor and office staff. My daughter waited weeks for an appointment with Dr Cox and ended up having to be emergently hospitalized. My daughter was scheduled to see Dr Cox two days after she had to be urgently admitted. (An appointment we waited weeks for) Despite having been a patient there for weeks, having access to all of my daughter’s records, having seen the counselor Kathy multiple times, and having a previously scheduled appointment with Dr Cox she refused to see my daughter following her hospital discharge. When I called to cancel her appointment with the counselor the receptionist was very rude and copped an attitude even going as far to say that she came in specifically for that appointment. If Dr Cox had not refused to see my daughter I would not have had to cancel that appointment and find another facility for her to be seen at. Regardless, if I’m not mistaken that is her job and I’m sure she gets paid to do it, however, if that is how she communicates with mental health patients she should reconsider her line of work.

I've been with Holcomb since May 23 2023. I have all services (ICM therapy and medication management) very good with matching me with the staff that's been helping me get my life on track. Scheduling is never an issue for any service. I feel heard and understood. The only thing I wish they had was a trauma therapy so I could have my daughter receive amazing care like I do.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Pennsylvania?
When comparing providers in Pennsylvania, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Pennsylvania?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Pennsylvania?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Pennsylvania providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Pennsylvania providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
