If i could give zero stars I would. I can't believe that they supposedly pride themselves in helping people, but yet they haven't helped me with anything... Oh wait! - they did help me if you can classify them getting me removed from the housing waiting-list as help. All I know is that they are government-funded and the more patients they have the more money they make, and they stay in business for doing absolutely nothing... just like cattle getting rounded up - getting patients rounded up. They tell me that they provide services plural with an "s", but the only thing I have gotten is "case management", which is useless because the only thing they have provided has been counseling, and nothing else - and that isn't even that great considering it just lets me re-live all of my trauma, leaving me again thinking about it and having no solutions. Recently I became homeless, and the only thing they offered was a tent which i didn't even get (lol). I will say that if you value your mental health, stay away from this place, as they don't in any way care about you, as they care about just finding that one more patient so they can bill the government. This place needs to be closed down. Oh, let me tell you that, now since the begining I hav e been through 7 different case managers due to either they have left or been fired....so much for consistency.

I have been attending this therapy clinic for the past few years, and I wanted to share my experience. Initially, I was hopeful about finding support for my mental health, but over time, my experience with my therapist Patricia, became frustrating and disappointing.

Absolutely horrible absolutely horrible. My daughter has been through five therapist and we cannot have one that is consistent. It’s kind of funny. Everyone is either on sickleave or they attend a couple sessions and then they are on vacation and my daughter is left hanging and this is terrible absolutely terrible. Who is somebody who is seeking mental health services for a child no less Absolutely unbelievable I have reached out to the supervisor and I received nothing.

A few years back before my first attempt, I tried getting help here multiple times because my doctor kept referring me back to them. After being denied twice and going through hours and hours of interviews, I wasn't going through that process again, and I asked for a 'rejection letter' to give my doctor so he would stop trying to get me back into them. I felt I was wasting my time and mentally getting worse. They were only giving me verbal denial over the phone so I had no proof I was even going to them to give my doctor. The lady running the desk resorted to screaming at me for asking nicely for a simple rejection letter because I didn't want to go through the interview process again just to be rejected a third time. A nice man (i presume a real counselor or mental health professional) had to step in because she was being so horribly disgusting to me. I was not in a right place at the time and it was the last thing I needed. My mental health problems are from severe child abuse and trauma so her screaming at me didn't feel great! Couple years later, they are no different. Good luck meeting their criteria. If you need mental help, go to Marquette, or ANYWHERE BUT HERE! They are so horribly disgusting to mentally ill people.

the executive staff; case mangers are unprofessional and in some cases unethical. the manner in which they communicate is atrocious and creates a hostile working and living environment for residents and staff alike. the carry over from personal events to unprofessional conduct is unimaginable. This is not all to be clear, however bad or rather conduct unbecoming an employee of cherry health is unaddressed and staff turn a blind eye.

Biggest joke I've seen. They earned their 2 stars that's for damn sure. I've seen everything from the Dr mixing up my chart and trying to prescribe me lithium for SOMEONE Else's bipolar disorder to being but on SEVEN different medications at once and not sleeping for months. I'm currently in the ER because the Dr didn't fill out the prior auth in time before they closed for the weekend. They said call the emergency line at cmh. their emergency line at CMh "doesn't have emergency personnel on staff" and would "call me back sometime this weekend" but to go to urgent care. Urgent care Dr said she can't prescribe mental health meds and to go to ER. So now I'm sitting in the ER waiting to see if my mental health meds are "medically necessary" to be filled by the ER. This was my LAST STRAW with this place. Please do not waste your time. Unless u want to be neglected and overlooked as well as ignored and well as drugged do NOT go here at all costs. I was only listened to enough to ask if I was "in crisis" and since the answer was always no I remained overlooked. CMH is a joke.

My first time in a rehab facility, did not feel safe. Very uncomfortable with the co-ed detox " wing" . Open women's bathroom/ shower, loud, staff was very condescending. Had a " moment " with one of the nurses and was told to " keep my mouth shut". Worst experience in my life in a very long time. They treat you like you're putting them out. No communication. It's basically a " jail or rehab" joint. Too many problem people. Gangster wanna- be attitude. When admitted, didn't give me my money, contacts, phone list, nobody showed me around, and then after transferred to resident living, they expected you to do labor. Nope nope nope. Stay away.

For an office specializing in cognitive issues they show no patient care when it comes to insurance and cost. The patient they treated had an insurance that is well known to need prior authorization. It would have been a 1 minute phone call or quick fax back to the referring Dr to have this done prior to the patients appointment. While I also blame the Drs office, I am disgusted by an office dealing with people with memory issues standing on a "your insurance is your business motto." Having worked in health care I know that as soon as I saw this insurance I would say get a prior authorization. Instead this office stuck their patient with a $500 bill. Lazy and despicable.

CAUTION PARENTS! Do not take your teens here! CMH enables your child to keep being “sick.” We went here for 2 years because my son was suicidal and had SEVERE behavioral problems. Needless to say they didn’t care that he wouldn’t stop smoking marijuana (used to cover up emotions) made me (his mother) out to be the problem and wouldn’t address anything unless it had to do with pegging me as a monster. The last and final straw was his last appointment, he had an outburst and ran back inside where the employees unreasonably kept him from me and I had to have a family member pick him up. This place and their “therapists” need to be shut down. Complete parent child alienation at the hands of “professionals” pretty scary.

It was neither detrimental nor beneficial. The staff is kind, but I was released on my second day and told that this program wasn't for me. It seems to be more based on things like PTSD and I am not a sufferer of such ailments. I can neither say good nor bad things about the program, but I can at least say that the staff was kind to me. But as is usually the case with mental health, my answers were not found here nor anywhere else. (I'm a hopeless case) If you're reading reviews on this place, you're probably considering going. It can't hurt to try, right? There's help to be found somewhere. We just gotta keep looking, so take care of yourselves, purge hate from your heart, and try to center yourself. Peace is hard work. ✌️ keep the faith folks.

Clearly this place needs to be investigated by the State with how many assaults have been happening. Happy to say I have never and will never go to this place or recommend it. How does a person stab themselves with scissors or other objects? Do better. Our Mental Health system has been suffering for years with all the State cuts, but this is frightening being notified of all the incidents lately.

This place spells neglect. Dr ibriham, there head of the medical staff, head doctor is a coward. Never have I ever encountered a dr. In his position that refuses to treat someone because of a condition that has been treated to treat another issue. Please if you value your safety and mental health seek other services. They push pills on you for something you don’t even need to treat. Oh and don’t ever work here.

I stayed here as a patient and the food was absolutely amazing, like actually homemade cooking. The staff is beyond words can describe. Amy from 3rd, Josh and Jaiden both awesome guys and even when doing rounds or whatever would still help you when needed. Alanna (probably spelled wrong lol) you rock as well. There was a lady for the program she was great and willing to listen to us about things to change think her name was Erika. But unit 200 was the unit I was on and I know I am missing many of you ladies but you all were great to me and many of the others as well. The staff really take pride in the work they do. Downfall is they have to do "checks" which is every 15 minutes which doesn't allow them to actually give time to the people so we get screwed by that. Probably the worst part of my review would be the checks as doesn't allow the staff to help us or allow them to actually help us with anything because they have so much time to do the checks that they have to constantly walk around scanning us. Most of all they finally helped me get to the point I needed with the meds and help I received and will forever be grateful for that. Downfalls are you can't take drinks back to the unit from the cafeteria which is a little stupid, we only were allowed 30 minutes for meal time and that includes standing in the line to wait for are drinks and food and than to eat (if your at the end of the line you are screwed on time to eat and finish your drinks). Not "allowed" to hug or touch anyone which when a person is leaving it's hard on them as well as us because even a week in you get attached to the people you are on the unit with and are hoping the best for them and wish them well so yeah a hug goodbye obviously should be allowed. The ice queen 👑

I have never dealt with a more controlling and unprofessional front desk staff in my life. I was having difficulty obtaining my prescription because my psychiatrist refused to fill it, and I was experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms—so bad that I nearly got into six car accidents. Instead of taking the situation seriously, the front desk staff dismissed my concerns. Frustrated, I canceled my appointment and found another psychiatrist who saw me the same day. That should have been the end of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Michigan?
When comparing providers in Michigan, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Michigan?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Michigan?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Michigan providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Michigan providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
