It took a little over a week for them to first get in touch, but genuine apology was expressed and it seemed like unique circumstances. The evaluation process with Shelley was along the lines of what I expected. Having given thorough histories for other reasons before, I did not find it to be overly invasive. Thorough, not overly time- consuming. Fact- focused, not judgmental. At the end of the evaluation, I was told it may take a week to hear anything. It took longer, but I've my attorney reached out to remind Tools For Life, the response was prompt. Can't give five stars yet because I am still waiting for the last phase of this process to be completed, but so far good people to work with.

“I want to share my experience as a parent so others know what to expect. My son completed all the requirements to qualify for this program and we were originally told he was on the waitlist. Unfortunately, communication from staff—especially one coordinator named Nicole Martinez —has been very unprofessional and dismissive. When I asked reasonable questions about my son’s status, I was met with rude responses and a lack of transparency. It felt like personal attitudes were affecting the process, which is extremely frustrating when you’re trying to get your child the help they need. I hope the administration addresses this, because families deserve respectful communication and consistent information. Other staff may be great, but my experience with this particular coordinator made the process much harder than it needed to be.”

I’ve had a really positive experience at Lincoln Recovery. From my personal experience, you can tell this place is about more than just a job for the staff—it’s about genuinely helping people. Executive Director Allan stands out right away. He truly cares about the clients and goes above and beyond to make sure people feel supported and heard. That same level of dedication shows in other staff members as well, including Stacy, Morgan, Adrian, Ashley, and so many more. They consistently show compassion, patience, and a willingness to go the extra mile. Recovery isn’t easy, but being in an environment where the staff actually cares makes a huge difference. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received here and the effort the team puts in every day.

I came here from a 7 year patient at a private clinic with low expectations it being a government ran facility and boy did the medical director nurses and counselor not disappoint! I won't get into them personally as the receptionist and a few others where professional just becareful with one nurse nodding out and the other mean mugging you or shuts you up because she is "busy" or the MD. that runs it. I have fast metabolites for medications especially opiates like methadone but with split doses it's manageable, which this clinic doesn't offer (not even the testing) so my original dose i was on for 7 years was changed to a single and they also said I would have to lower my dose a !second time now! as it was to high for their facility guidelines the first time and now again because of my other medications that i have been taking just as long as methadone.(it was the medical directors personal feelings not a rule or guideline slipped from the head nurses lips over the phone) I feel like if the medical director actually had any part to play In my mat program besides the intake appointment she would know her personal feelings and not learning new methods are doing more damage than good and probably has been for a long time to alot of people. Everyone's body and addiction is different and I won't let anyone jeopardize or control my health after I have been fixing it from the doctors that started it all from a spinal Injury at 15 years old. Keep fighting even when the people that should be helping are not! You're worth it.

What I primarily learned from 10 days at the Mulberry Center to live out: one must always strive to will the good of the other (to love), believe in everyone’s good and potential, not lose your integrity, and to rise above any lie and mistreatment with growing personal virtue along with cooperation of the grace of Christ in order to truly succeed in this program and in life. I have hope that with my many sins throughout my stay, the grace, love, and mercy of God will be near, and with it my sufficient repentance. To every soul connected to this program who is a repentant sinner, truly trying to grow in their moral life, may we all find the actual healing and newness of life that only is found through God’s grace and our cooperation. And may we all ultimately desire carrying on with integrity and fairness to all in this life and with hope, repentance, and grace into the next.

I am quite disappointed. My daughter was on a waiting list, and I received a call offering an appointment. I was told the only available times were 10:45 AM and either 12:15 PM or 12:25 PM; I can not recall precisely. But I took the 10:45am slot.I asked the receptionist if there were any later appointments after school, but she said no. I replied that it was alright, as my daughter truly needed to see the psychiatrist. I requested a letter for her school, and the receptionist said she would provide it on the day of the visit. However, on the day of the visit, my child's father forgot to ask for the letter. I called to explain the situation and asked if they could provide the letter on Wednesday, as I had an appointment then. The receptionist agreed. I even confirmed this with the therapist. My appointment was rescheduled to Friday, so I did not receive the letter on Wednesday. Today, they informed me that they do not have the letter and, in fact, do not provide such letters. Up to this point, I was okay and never asked names because I didn't want to be rude. Since they always talk too fast when they answer the phones or ask something. However, casually inquiring about colleagues' meal plans or immigration status is highly unprofessional. I have not yet addressed this behavior, as it has not directly impacted me. I had already told my kids' school that I was going to provide the note. Now I look bad. I wonder if they pause to consider whether this is how they would want someone they care about to be treated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Illinois?
When comparing providers in Illinois, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Illinois?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Illinois?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Illinois providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Illinois providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
