Do not recommend! There billing is awful to deal with and it is difficult to get any kind of account information from them. They have overcharged me before and it took arguing and multiple phone calls to correct.

Philip Warner tried putting two of my family members on blood pressure medication instead of continuing well established anxiety medication plans, one having been prescribed for twelve years with no problem. They both came to the office willingly for psychiatric help, because one person was recommended to come here. One of these family member didn't have blood pressure issues, and one family member was already on a blood pressure medication. When said person brought it up during the third appointment, he didn't even know they were on blood pressure medication. SERIOUSLY?!?!? His reckless actions caused dangerously low blood pressure in my family member who didn't have blood pressure issues, and the medication he stopped can cause seizures and mania when stopped suddenly. He told both people separately that they were addicts who wouldn't get better.

My experience with the Deerfield Behavioral Health program was extremely concerning, particularly toward the end of my child’s treatment. As the primary parent actively coordinating care, transportation, and communication, I made consistent efforts to support my child’s participation in the program. However, there was a noticeable breakdown in communication and support from staff during critical moments of escalation. Toward the end, the tone and approach toward both myself and my child shifted significantly. I no longer felt supported as a parent seeking help, and communication became limited and misaligned. Concerns I raised—including safety issues—did not result in clear or actionable guidance. Instead of a collaborative, therapeutic approach, interactions began to feel more reactive and less focused on supporting my child’s mental health needs. Ultimately, my child was discharged without what I believe was appropriate coordination or transition planning. Families deserve clear communication, support, and partnership—especially during high-risk situations. That was not my experience here.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How should I compare mental health providers in Illinois?
- When comparing providers in Illinois, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
- What should I ask before contacting a provider in Illinois?
- Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
- Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
- No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
- Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Illinois?
- Yes. Mental Health US includes Illinois providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
- What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
- If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Illinois providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
