I’ve been coming to this dental office for quite some time, and while I generally appreciate the care provided, I’ve consistently experienced an issue with one staff member’s attitude that I feel compelled to address. During my most recent visit, I was informed there is a new QR code check-in process. As I was attempting to pull up my camera to scan the code, my phone was loading slowly due to overheating. Before I had the opportunity to complete the process, I was abruptly told to move to the tablet and sign in there because appointments were being made. The tone felt unnecessarily impatient and dismissive. I understand that front desk staff often manage multiple responsibilities at once, and I respect that. However, professionalism and courtesy should remain consistent, regardless of how long someone has worked at the office or how busy the moment may be. Patients should not feel rushed or spoken to in a way that feels condescending. I value this practice and the dental care I receive here, which is why I believe it’s important to share this feedback. A calm, respectful interaction goes a long way in maintaining a welcoming and positive environment for patients.

I've been through a few people here. I've been to a total of 3 psychiatrists, and they've all been pretty bad. My most recent one, Harris, who is doing telehealth from LA, told me point blank that she didn't specialize in any of my disorders (Bi-Polar, ADHD). I had a pretty nice therapist, but I didn't click with her as much as I wish I could've, but that doesn't detract from her willingness to help me and hear my problems! I'd say the therapy is decent here, but I would avoid their psychiatrists like the plague. I keep it at a 2 because they've at least prescribed me 1 useful medication (mood stabilizer) that I can say works, and therapy seems decent.

Ended up with a therapist who would constantly make me feel like I had to prove something. Often try to make me think they were above me since they were "doing this for 30 years", and in multiple times never regarded me for my depression, anxiety, agoraphobia and such but rather lesser things and made it the main topic of my sessions. They at one point made a bluntly transphobic comment, implying that I'm "lucky" for not ending up as "one of those". My mother tried, multiple times to get my therapist changed but the "insurance didn't allow it". I can't even go to therapy anymore and my symptoms worsened.

I have been with Ventura County Behavioral Health for at least 10 years. I have been through more therapists than I cared too. Last year I asked for a new psychiatrist and got Dr Jazi. He is by far the most knowledgeable, qualified professional psychiatrist I have ever seen. He cares and it shows. I've had a wonderful therapist but unfortunately she left. Recently certain individuals have told patients with Medicare they have to find other services. When it comes to my best interest I'm going to fight for my psychiatrist. I suggest if you want to stay on with your therapist or psychiatrist call a lawyer. I did. They are so unethical it's disgusting. Patients have rights and they don't expect patients with Mental illnesses to fight back. Be your own advocate. It's a hit and miss with that place but I'm not willing to give up my psychiatrist who has even said I should be there.

As a Consultant who partners with nonprofits to build trauma-informed cultures, I have a very high bar for organizational care and client interaction. I am writing this review because The Guidance Center — and specifically Guadalupe (Lupe) — exceeded every expectation I have, both professionally and personally. I also want to recognize the woman who assisted us with the initial paperwork as she did an exceptional job helping us understand the intake paperwork and navigate the digital system. I could tell she cares for every client and truly wants them to understand the process. The main reason for writing this review is to especially recognize Lupe. The intake process can be emotionally exhausting, but Lupe’s gentle nature and strong active listening skills were reassuring. He was incredibly patient and sensitive to our needs. The most telling moment was watching my daughter warm up to him. She often looks to me to speak for her in new settings, but Lupe made her feel safe enough to find her own voice. She went from nonverbal cues to explaining her feelings in detail. Having navigated both private insurance and public resources, I want to highlight that the quality of care we received here rivaled and/or exceeded any care we have accessed through private providers during an intake process. It is rare to see an organization live up to its mission so effectively in practice. We are so grateful for this community resource. And we send a heartfelt thanks to Lupe.

Hopefully you never have to do classes for the dmv because apparently they don't even know how to sign people up for the classes. And your lucky if they at least say they will call you back instead of hanging up on you, but they don't actually call back so... I'll just be driving 40 miles to ukiah so I can actually get enrolled to satisfy the dmv. Don't waste your time with these rude, incompetent people.

I am a Mexican-American 19 year old who was forced to taketherqpyby her mother here in 2016-2017. I am currently cleaning my room because I am moving soon. I have these documents I got from this location which gives details about my therapy sessions. My mom forced me to therapy because according to her, I was having issues due to her divorcing my dad which is not true at all. As I review these documents, I am realizing how unprofessional this llace is. Therapy can be for many things but it's always with the intention of helping. I am noticing that my thoughts or feelings are being mentioned at all on these documents. I also don't understand where they getting most their information from which is mot even accurate but based on what I have read so far, I can assume it's all based on my mom's answers. They have seemed to acknowledge my mom's thoughts, opinions and feelings. It makes extremely uspet and ignored. I requested these documents because I hoping to join the Air Force. It was my mistake not reading these before handing them to my recruiter. I can't belive a therapist would focus more on my mother than on my thoughts and feelings. I won't deny that I was upset with my parents seperating but it never affected me or my life. I had to deal with a lot but I was mentally and emotionally strong about it. I was forced to live with my mom which I had no issue with until within a month of living with her and her partner. People eventually show their true intentions and I learned what were my mom's bf true intentions. I was never against parents choices especially if it made them happy and it took away something from me. I always put themabove me. After all, the have taken care of me the best way the could. I was not going to allow for her partner to yell at me and call me liar. I begged my mom to let me go with my Dad to live with him. I didn't safe living with my mom anymore. She let her partner yell at me and call me things. I asked for help. Adults called me dramatic and were telling me I should support my mom. The only family that cared about me is in Mexico. I been trying my best to avoid this person but he is an imature person. I am soon going to be 20 and I am unhappy. I am not depressed or suicidal. I am just unhappy. I want to be in the Air Force. I want to go to school. I want to do lots of things. I have no guidance. I have no one. It's just me and only me.

This place is the best example of what is wrong with America's mental health care system. The secretaries at the front desk barely speak a word of the English language and are difficult to understand. It took an hour for the secretary to schedule my appointment. If you are having issues then please go somewhere else as you will not receive the adequate care that you need.

I emailed a few sites and called trying to get help, leaving messages. The Center was the only one that reached out to me and offered to help me resolve the problem I was having.

I used to be there. Back in 2008-2009 I was only 15. Except back then my name was lupe. Starview was a place that was for the kids that were bad. A place where the system didn't know where else to place us. Basically the last resort group home. Yeah I may have been on unnecessary pills but the staff never treated us bad. It was actually us kids that made it a living hell for the staff. Late night messing with the staff. Floading the bathroom sinks. Fighting. And of course there was I. Getting in trouble fought twice there and I was more for getting high and sneaking into my girls room. I've heard so much that everything has changed that the staff are bad and the kids are even as bad. When I first got there I wanted to fight everyone in my way only because my mom didn't fight for me. So I was places in there. So no that place didn't make us bad. Starview try to help as much as they can to understand why we end up bad and end up there. Starview changed my life. If I didn't go I probably would have been found dead. Being place there gave me a chance to get cleaned up and have a life. Now I am a gown adult with 2 kids that love me so much. And I have starview to thank for that. I came from nothing to being a mother having my own place. So I don't care what anyone saying. I thank starview for giving me that chance in life to make a difference. Instead of being another statistic that the system labels us to be. I became something in life. Went to high school and graduated. And went off to college as well. So thank you starview. And I miss the one staff that showed me tough love. Brenda she was awesome. And the night shift lady. She name was Amber she was always there for me and she even worked at Maryvale

This place has been a godsend. I have been going here since 2015. I saw a grief therapist for a few months, she was great. Front staff is pleasant. Yes sometimes there is a wait but life happens drs get behind. Dr rosowski (I can never spell it right) is absolutely phenomenal. He saw me before my husband passed and has continued to see me since. I will be devastated if he ever retires. I am impressed with the level of care and patience offered here. These staff have a lot to deal with especially offering a walk in mental health clinic. I am grateful this place is here and have gotten great much needed mental health help.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
