This place is trash and they don't care about their patients at all... how do you get a new patient and have a video call as an appointment?... what happened to one on one....I am very unsatisfied with my sons treatment.... they never bothered to get his old records from other facilities that treated him..... I went to a USC hospital called LAC + USC for insomnia and acute anxiety. I didn't have insurance at the time so they "bussed" me to this place near Compton. A male nurse punched me in the face and they wouldn't call the police. Desk nurse was CiCi. The male nurse was Nigerian or something, and his name was John.

one of the most degrading mental hospitals. staff truly don’t care about you. you are left to your own devices. no real help is provided. you are there to sleep and eat. staff members act like it’s a chore to help you. you get to see a doctor every day for about 10 mins and that’s all. you’re better off going to a prison than here. i was told that i wasn’t going to leave after my 51/50 and i would either sign a voluntary contract saying i want to stay longer or be forced into a 52/50 which is a forced 2 week stay. i was told i was going to have to choose between those two even though i wasnt suicidal. terrible place. food is awful and there’s mold in the showers. i was in the H unit and ive never felt so sick being in a mental hospital. i had to fake being fine to leave. once again there is no real help here. you get dropped off and are left to figure out how you feel. no therapist to see and talk to. a doctor who you get to see for 10 mins. do not come to this place. it is beyond disappointing.

I have a tooth that needs to be pulled. I contacted Hill Country Dental and got an appointment for July 2,2025. Told them when I made appointment I needed antibiotics because of double knees replacement. Told could not do that. Went to appointment and had gray done. Then told they had to contact my Orthopedic Surgeon. Gave them his name and wait he 1 month to get a response. I had to call and find out what was going on. They said they had not received information from my Orthopedic surgeon. Waited another week still nothing. Called and told them if I got a infection from my tooth to my knees they would be hearing from my lawyer. Guess what?? 2 hours later got a call from them they had my records. I have been going to their clinic since 2013. Have never had this kind of treatment. Dr. Logan was dentist great guy. When today a month and half from first try. Said my blood pressure was too high. I left got home my blood pressure is fine. Very disappointed with all of this. Still have tooth that needs to be pulled!!!

Do not take your children here! If I have read the reviews before I would have never taken mine here. First off they are all students and if you need someone with experience do not go here. We went though 2 counselors. The first one was very sweet not very helpful but nice. The second one we had 1 session with him and he called cps on us. Apparently that’s what they do. I recently seen the reviews here how fast they are to call cps. They don’t try to fix the issues that are going on they will just call cps and make everything so much harder on you as parents. Now my other kids think they are going to get taken out of their home and caused unnecessary stress to all of them. My step son is now stressed out and doesn’t want anything to do them. Do not go to them they won’t help fix anything! If I could give 0 stars I would!

They really don’t fill prescriptions on time. I spent 6 weeks trying to fill my diabetes meds and blood pressure meds and I was calling and leaving messages, talking to people who said they’d leave a note etc. my husband even went down in person and still no response. Finally I called and asked if I needed to make an appointment and they said that’s what they’d been waiting on….. they couldn’t have told me within that 6 weeks I was calling asking for answers???? Could not be bothered at all really? Now we call in and specifically ask if we need to come be seen in person etc and we do that and it’s still not filled in time. They can’t keep drs or staff, they all keep leaving.

I do not recommend this place, vista del mar called an ambulance on me for a small deal and when I was there I would get harrased physically and verbally I told them to stop myself but they wouldn't stop so when I then asked the staff for help they were useless and didn't even help me and crazy kids running around like its some playground sneaking into restroom which the restroom I dont highly prefer it, as there is no lock and its like a curtain lack of privacy and respect. vista del mar is highly strict with their policies but they lack accountability and patient treatment. even one staff encouraged patients to be immature and wreckless. and they are helpless and unprofessional.

Arriving to Los Angeles seven months ago, with only a duffel bag. I was greeted at APAIT and quickly given assistance with housing to stay off the streets. I then learned about programs that they offered and took advantage of those. And I could probably say that they assisted me on getting my Life back on track.

I love San Benito County mental health building and people that work there. Everybody is so nice and helpful. Every time I need services there’s at least three people willing to serve you the doctors there are nice and great and administer medication that will help you keep your brain tuned up . We take our cars for maintenance. Why not take our bodies for maintenance in our mind for maintenance , no, take your mind to the gym . ( aka Behavioral Health ) people go to the gym. We’re not do maintenance on your brain.

They just want to be up in your business they have no sympathy for their mental health patients. They only want for their benefit that I what I think now. They only choose who they want to help. I'm suffering from mental health they are inhumane and evil corporation..They seem to like to play games. They refused to sign importants documents without telling me the consequences first for not coming to an appointment that could have been addressed as well if there was more communication. I was left having to be sent to get my medication by myself and a form refused to be signed .. for being asleep as Silvia the receptionist told me. And I have disability and mental health issues..

Beware!! I’m surprised they get 3 stars I wouldn’t give them one! They are extortionist who will lie to your face and take your money and you get left homeless on the street! I spent a little over a year with BQ and I wouldn’t leave my dog there to be treated not alone a human being. The therapist are all incompetent and tell your family lies about you just so they can keep you there as long as they can and suck you dry of your money! I was put into alternative placement back in 2020 and one of the facilities they placed me in for paying 10k a month was literally a converted motel in a compound with no running water little to no food inhumane accommodation including a bathroom that didn’t work and no clean sheets to sleep. BQ also took my phone from me for over a year which is a violation of my rights as a client and only allowed me to call my family once a week for 5 minutes. If I tried calling my family without their permission I was knocked down in the program or threatened with other means of punishment. When I filled multiple violations with San Diego County Mental Health department they found several of my complaints valid and that I had my rights violated there. I only wish I would have had the money and resources to use legal action against BQ for the treatment I endured during my time there

CBT group was playing the Nintendo switch, the family therapist stopped working there, alumni group didn’t exist, the counselor was strict (and unlicensed), equine therapy is just for marketing, sessions were more like once a week rather than twice, we often missed groups, and one of the weeks I was there we only did about 20% of the therapy we had scheduled.

I never really write bad reviews or any reviews really, but I just wanted to write about this place so that I can feel calmer in my own head about it. This place was awful, but that's not to say all staff were awful. I came into this place during a rough patch in my life and maybe I was meant to come here. For whatever reason I got brought here, I hope I made a change in the way they ran things. I had evidence that this place was lying to their patients about dates/times and probably other things I could not comprehend at the time. I hope the good staff stayed to make it better and to the staff that was rude to me and other patients...I hope you quit and left...and if you're reading this review and still decide to give this place a chance...keep an eye out!

I was put in here back in 2013. I was coming off drugs and some serious life changes and had a complete mental breakdown. These people were a blessing and I can say I haven’t been in any sort of trouble to get me sent back and I’ve been sober ever since! This place is seriously a blessing for me. The food was better than jail, they let you watch movies and stay up pretty late. They gave me cigarettes until someone brought me some(quit those too!) they always had clean clothes and fresh bedding something I was not used to. The staff was extremely polite patient and understanding, even though I was out of it for awhile. The doctors initially did a check on me and decided I had to stay until I could pass a check. Thank god! It was probably only around 7-10 day experience but I wouldn’t change it for anything.

My son's therapist has been amazing. Uriel has been a great advocate for my son to receive services, and has been very attentive and supportive. We are so thankful for Uriel and his team for supporting my son during a time that we would describe as one of the most challenging for him so far. Thank you so much to South Coast!

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
