The New Roads program was extremely helpful for our 18yo child. Both the facility and the staff are excellent. We've worked with lots of programs like this and they were by far the most communicative and also took great strides to ensure our whole family was educated in the basics of DBT. Our loved one made tremendous progress in their five months and really liked it there. We highly recommend and should our child need these types of services again, we will go back to New Roads.

I had an appointment schedule out two weeks in advance. I was looking for a therapist for my son. We scheduled the 9 AM. I show up at 8:40 and they let me know that the therapist who is supposed to be seeing my son is not there mind you, my four-year-old doesn’t have school on Friday so he’s with me my five month old is always with me and then I had to have my nine-year-old who’s in therapy as well. Busy busy. My oldest Misses the first The first part of school. My morning was already hectic I had already moved my schedule around quite a bit for the appointment. I think it’s super unprofessional that when I came in he said they had tried to call everybody to let them know she wasn’t going to be there, but I was the first appointment of hers I’m sure and then they have somebody literally call me at 9 o’clock and tell me oh she’s not gonna be there she doesn’t she had an emergency, super unprofessional will not be returning do not recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE! Today I’m receiving an email from the courts stating that they have not received my completion of my domestic violence course from this facility. I completed my course almost a year ago! In October!! .. Upon meeting with Francisco, he had told me that he would take an assessment and figure out which course I needed to take.. The assessment included a paper and verbal test in which didn’t properly evaluate my psychosis or my behavior, but simply the reasoning to pass judgment from a biased point of view. At the beginning, he stated that he had signed a contract that I would take 10 classes and be done with my course. By the 10th class, I had let him know I completed it and he said “no you have to take two more sessions” I did the next two sessions and paid the full amount Of which I owed to him and he said I will send your completion to the courts confirmed with me that it was Orem justice court, and my case number and I had nothing to worry about. This man is on paper qualified, but lacks integrity and responsibility. Very untrustworthy.

I need therapy after taking my child to… therapy. I’m not even sure I can call this therapy. I’m traumatized that I just traumatized my kid. My kid left this place and threw up minutes after pulling out of the parking lot. He had more anxiety than what he came in with by the time we left. I got there early knowing I most likely needed to fill out paperwork. The front doors were locked and found that you had to walk around the back to get in, really strange. Get inside and start paperwork (and oh heck there was a lot). Therapist was late and came running in asking the front desk lady if he about gave her a heart attack because he was late. When he walks over to us he asks for my son “are you____? but doesn’t introduce himself. That was odd. We walk into his room and he starts trying to get his computer to turn on but ends up having troubles logging into some note type program so he makes multiple phone calls while we’re are sitting there. He asks my kid if he knows why he is there. My kid says no. He then proceeds to say well I’m here to talk to if you are having any issues, are you having issues? The way he said this was really strange. I then turned and explained that this was a therapist and what a therapist is like it was my job. He also made my child sit in a particular seat right next to the desk he sat at and asked me to move seats so I was closer so he didn’t have to turn to look at me. That was weird too. We just met you and I even felt uncomfortable sitting that close to him. I know I should have said something right then but in the moment I started having my own anxiety too. I was asked to step out of the room but for no more than 10 minutes to be asked to come back in that he had some questions for me. The questions were what was my name (again for the third time) and my phone number. I gave it to him but he had me repeat myself multiple times. Giving me more anxiety. Then asked if I wanted to add anyone else to the contact list and I said well no I already filled out that information on the forms. He says “oh they don’t look at those they will only look at the information on the computer”. So why did I just waste all my time filling out a biz-zillion forms? We leave (early even though he was very late) and within minutes my child throws up. I asked him if he felt sick before and he said no I don’t know why that just happened. He is okay now after we talked a bit. He said that that made him really uncomfortable. I asked him what they talked about and if something he said or did made him uncomfortable. But he said no just that he made him sit so close to him. But he did say the only things “Paul” asked him were: What’s your name, how old are you, his address (which he doesn’t know he’s too young), his number (he gave him mine), But the weird one was he said he was asked if he is a boy or a girl. I called back a few minutes later saying that this was not a good fit and I needed someone to know the way I was feeling. I told the lady I don’t think we should have even been charged for that today. She said she didn’t have control over that but I could speak to the supervisor there. She puts me on hold to then tell me the supervisor is the guy who the therapist called about the computer problem and that he is out of town until next week. She called back a few minutes later offering a refund. But I said I still need to talk to a supervisor but she seems a little annoyed about it. A couple other things I noticed is the office did not feel calm or clean at all. Paul’s office was very outdated, with old furniture that was very dusty and dirty. Very cluttered. Many broken toys that definitely haven’t been sanitized ever. Books beyond books about types of therapy. Nothing for kids. Stuff was stuffed under the couch as well. I’m kicking myself in the butt for not looking into this place before hand but was recommended by my insurance company. I hope and pray someone reads this review and chooses to cancel their appointment/s. This is not a place to go for therapy. You will leave needed more therapy.

I have had a good experience with Randy as my therapist. I also attend the dialectic behavioral therapy group and I find it helpful. The only problem is with the psychiatrist. It was difficult to get scheduled with him then when I finally did, he told me he was leaving and that another was going to take his place. Then the other one fell through (didn't accept the job I guess). So the transition with psychiatrists has not been good. In that area I would give only 1 star

They administered a vaccine to my daughter , a minor , without consent of a parent or legal guardian. We called and requested 2 vaccines ( yellow fever and malaria) so my daughter can go on a humanitarian trip to Africa. They set up the appointment. My wife sent a permission slip with our daughter to receive the “ required “ vaccines. The nurse then advised my daughter it is recommended she also get the typhoid vaccine, rabies, and get a booster for meningitis. My daughter being unsure of the situation and the funds needed for the vaccines declined the rabies shot but accepted the others ( which drove the price up another $100 ) as the meningitis was covered by insurance but typhoid wasn’t. Not sure how they get away with doing more than was requested with a minor. Maybe I’m missing something. Luckily the typhoid vaccine is pills she can take so we were able to return those and get her money back. Pretty frustrating situation.

If I had it to do over again, I would not pick this place again. Half the day is group therapy, so if that doesn’t work for you, like it didn’t for me, don’t bother. And don’t expect them to care about you. They just want to help the easy patients. The hard ones they couldn’t care less about. If you’re not easy to fix, they get rid of you.

I have called NAMI twice, recently and a few years ago. Each time I have been connected with a knowledgeable, compassionate and supportive person who really listens, and shared with me the current and available resources and programs. On my recent phone call Wendy shared even more information that I may need in the future. She answered everything plus more. We are very fortunate to have this organization in Utah that provides education and assistance to families and individuals impacted by mental health issues. What a gem

I can’t say enough about the incredible team at the OCD & Anxiety Center. From the moment I walked through their doors, I was met with warmth, encouragement, and a genuine commitment to helping me heal. The staff here are **the heart and soul** of this place—they create an environment where vulnerability is met with understanding, where fears are faced with steady support, and where every step forward, no matter how small, is celebrated.

This is a boy and girl campus. I think that says enough. Even But before that, my daughter was abused multiple times on and off campus. So many things wrong with this place. Only a few things that are right. I'm devastated at what my daughter has become during the 6.5 months she was there. Respite for my family is actually what it offered. The security and inability to Taylor the program for individuals that don't fit into the box is a struggle here. To be fair, I don't think anyone would be able to help my daughter right now, but I was hoping for less hurt to occur. I feel like if I had listened to my daughter and my own heart, and taken her out before Christmas, it would have prevented damage and pain. The state needs to review this program. It's not a safe place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Utah?
When comparing providers in Utah, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Utah?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Utah?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Utah providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Utah providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
