“We’re here for you” seems to be your motto. OH NO! Not a phone call in 3 weeks after leaving a voicemail. Counseling is time sensitive. SHAME ON YOU! I hesitated about leaving this review because I could not be anonymous. You call yourselves a counseling service. NO! No recommendation here. The one star was the lowest option, but honestly, I would give you sub zero. I hope you shape up for Weakley County and provide the so needed services to our community. Shame on YOU!

I’m leaving this review based on my experience as the mother of this man’s children. While I appreciate that Aspell Recovery has helped him stop using drugs, the support seems to stop there. I have reached out multiple times asking for guidance, mentorship, or any kind of encouragement toward him becoming an active parent to his kids. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. He still shows no involvement, no effort, and no willingness to step into his responsibilities as a father. What concerned me even more is that when I called to speak with someone about this, the staff member who answered the phone went back and told him that I had called. This felt extremely unprofessional and made it clear that communication is not handled with care or boundaries. Recovery is not just about sobriety — it’s also about accountability, responsibility, and learning to participate in life again. From what I have experienced, Aspell has not helped him in those areas at all. They may help people detox, but they have not encouraged or supported him in becoming a better parent or a stable part of his children’s lives. I hope they improve the way they support families, communicate, and help clients grow beyond just getting clean.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This facility has zero concern for the care and well-being of the children in it's care. The lack of communication is astounding, the building is in serious neglect, and the staff is inconsistent with policies and procedures. They've provided and allowed minors to watch rate R movies, my son didn't start receiving any treatment for a broken hand for over 3 weeks after it happened, and heaven forbid if you question the psychologist about the treatment because they become defensive and shut you out. This place needs to be shut down.

No one answers the phone on the units and if they do they are completely dismissive and hang up on you. I called to speak with a nurse who hung up on me and when I called back she was suddenly busy. Ive asked to speak with a supervisor on several occasions and was forwarded to the same unit where no one answered yet again. They treat you as if you’re an invalid. The social worker Josh is also not helpful at all and very defensive. From his perception the patients are all liars and the staff can do no wrong. My niece was sent here for HELP! Not to be treated like an INMATE! What’s more disappointing is I’m sure based on the attitude of most staff here that this review will be completely ignored and nothing will be done. I’m hopeful that at the very least, families will take this review into account before deciding to place their loved one here!

I was referred to a psychiatrist here just over a year ago but it’s finally gotten to the point to where I have to find somewhere else to go. I’m always at least 2 or 3 minutes early and I still end up waiting upwards of 20 minutes every single time. One time I called ahead of time to let them know I’d be 3 minutes late, they told me that my psychiatrist is on a tight schedule and to not make a habit of being late because I’ll have to wait until he’s done with his next appointment. There’s absolutely no consideration for patients and more often than not there’s no one to answer my phone calls when I’m having problems getting my prescription filled.

1 star is very generous for these people! I have been seen by them twice now; and each time the experience has been absolutely horrible. The first time I saw Jennifer was about a week and a half ago. My appointment was supposed to be 45 minutes long. They gave me the wrong address. I then only got 10 minutes of being able to speak with the therapist that day. I decided to give them on more chance and had another appointment yesterday- except this time it was virtual. She didn’t get into anything with me except anxiety about my weekend. Like what?! Then I was told she would only see me on a bi-weekly basis- even after my referral from my PCP was for weekly therapy appointments; also after she told me at the last appointment that we could do every week. How are you gonna tell a paying customer how often you’ll see them-especially when they have a referral that states otherwise. What’s even crazier to me is the therapist I saw (Jennifer) told me she is isn’t even licensed yet- she is still in the licensing process. Excuse me? I will 100% be reporting this to the BBB and whatever other state boards I need to reach out to. If they are going to lie about their therapists being licensed- what else are they lying about? Do yourself a favor and keep yourself safe and go somewhere else for therapy!

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Tennessee?
When comparing providers in Tennessee, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Tennessee?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Tennessee?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Tennessee providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Tennessee providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
