Would rate this 0 stars if I could. Stayed here 3 weeks, and all they diagnosed me with was major depression. Asked time and time again to check for adhd, for pacing/restlessness, fidgeting literally all the time. They did nothing. Doctor promised I’d be leaving here and have meds to help my anxiety as a safety net, they took them away upon discharge. They failed to find me adequate housing afterwards after multiple false promises. Had thoughts of harming myself upon leaving and was told “Well that’s your choice”. Had a mental breakdown and did harm myself upon leaving and was still kicked to the curve.

Thanks. No thanks. They should remove empathetic off their sign. To add I also see a lot of them not being able to be on time but get pulled over and be 2 min late and you must reschedule. Hope the therapist enjoys her hour break that was more important than my kid!

My father just had a four night stay after a surgery. I want to start by saying that there were a few staff members that were absolutely phenomenal and that’s why I’m leaving two stars instead of one…although I had to debate it because, I overall would not recommend people trust their care to this place. I was honestly horrified at the condition of the room (holes everywhere, stains on the walls) and the lack of empathy and concern from so much of the staff. I ended up staying around the clock just so I was there to beg for basic care for my father which was not happening. Also, I don’t know if the AC in his room was broken or if there just wasn’t any but his room consistently became sweltering hot and when I complained about it, they suggested I leave his door open, which would help slightly but interrupted his sleep as there was constantly yelling and alarms CONSTANTLY going off, not that shutting the door helped that problem very much anyway. When we arrived at the rehab center he was transferring to, it was like I had re-entered real life where so many of the concerns I kept having at the hospital were noticed and addressed quicker than I could even point them out to the staff. These were concerns that were almost consistently dismissed or outright ignored in the hospital. I shudder to think what could’ve happened to my father during that four night stay, had he not had us there to advocate for him.

Hello my name is Jackson. I went here from February 2024 - May 2024. And again August 2024 - September 2024 | This place is really what you make it. It’s a truly unique experience that you won’t get to experience ever again. The campus is super cool and refreshing. They have a barn with horses, a mule, and a donkey. They have a pretty cool ropes course, a big house that you share with 13 other kids and staff, a van and a car that they take you to places in (AA, NA, Activities), and 2 pretty cool chefs who make surprisingly good food for a treatment center. I had the pleasure of working with Valerie. I’ve worked with so many therapists over the years but she truly sticks out from all of them. She’s incredibly nice and very good at her job. Although when I came back home after my first trip here I ended up falling back into my same habits but worse. Which resulted in my coming back to foothills for a second time and wilderness after that. This is not foothills fault for not giving me enough resources. It’s my fault for not taking it serious enough. I’m currently in my 8th treatment program in Utah 320+ days sober. And I can say this program was a part of that sobriety. Watch of for staff that give kids substances, kids that get substances on outings, and kids mistreating other kids to fit in. Before sending your kid here, I recommend you do a lot of research to truly see if this fits your kids needs. Good luck 👁️

I’ve been going here over a year and have had a great experience. I tend to be very busy, and they work around my schedule, when I communicate any changes with work or school. This place has helped me a lot more than any other place I’ve been to around Elizabeth City. The therapist I see is amazing, and has reached out to me personally to make sure everything is okay; you can tell they truly care about their clients.

I just want to take a moment to recognize the amazing team at B&D Integrated Health Care—especially my doctor partridge and my peer support worker tyesha. From day one, they’ve treated me with real respect, patience, and understanding. My doctor takes the time to actually listen and explain things in a way that makes sense, which makes a huge difference. And my peer support worker has been there for me on a level that goes beyond just “doing a job”—they truly care and show it through their support and consistency. It’s not easy to find people who genuinely have your best interest at heart, but I’ve found that here. I’m grateful for the guidance, encouragement, and professionalism they’ve shown me. Highly recommend B&D Integrated Health Care to anyone looking for a team that really cares.

I cannot praise this hospital enough the bed side manner are chefs kiss. The staff is so welcoming and friendly aside from some of the staff that work in the front. The nurses made me feel safe, calm, and relaxed. They were all very compassionate and most importantly competent. I don’t know if the military hospital ruined me but they should learn from you guys. Thank you guys so much for having me. Thank you to the ER and the OB and nurses that helped with my emergency surgery. Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

Horrible experience here last week with associate Jenefer, she was very rude and disrespectful. I asked this women to allow me to sit in on her meeting with my child, she said, "yes I could." To only change her mind and kick my child out ! There was also Justin Bieber music playing in the lobby which to me is very inappropriate for children of my kids age. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They have schdueled me a meeting with her supervisor so I will see how this is gonna go in a few days.

I don't do mental health, I think I was put in the wrong unit but still the doctors, techs, group workers, social workers, were all Fantastic. I even stayed longer then I should have. All I had to was ask to talk to someone. Each individual I talked to wanted to get to know people. Spanish speakers were treated in a very efficient way.

After stopping by Delta Behavioral Health on March 25, 2026, I had decided to partake in their PHP program. Three days into the program, Stephanie (their licensed clinician*) asked me, "Are you using Google?". After requesting clarification, it led to a conflict. I was forward to John (a superior clinician), which also resulted in a conflict and was ultimately forwarded to the Director (i.e. Ms. Lapointe*). I was hospitalized at Novant's New Hanover Regional Medical Center for depression after being made to leave the facility on March 27, 2026. The facility has refused to return multiple phone calls from myself and the hospital to multiple individuals at the facility. I also received a Lexapro prescription on Thursday from Dr. Toppin after receiving an inaccurate diagnosis. Dr. Toppin also called me for clarification this past Tuesday (i.e. March 31, 2026) and I still have not heard back after calling her direct line. I would not recommend this facility.

When i first started going here I was seeing Dr.Gainey. Majority of the staff ive seen for substance abuse and primary care have been really nice, however I dont think some of the providers understand how withdrawal works and the toll it puts on the person going through it. I began seeing another provider for my substance abuse and primary care. Last month I got the 100mg suboclade shot and I could feel it wearing off these past few days. I called their office yesterday as I was instructed when I got that shot. I got a call back from one of the nurses who said she would let my provider know. I then got a call back after 5pm stating my provider said the only thing she could do was order me a 300mg shot. I asked how long it would take to get there and I was told anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks. Im not sure what she expects me to do in the meantime. If I had time for withdrawals I wouldn't be going to a doctor in the first place. Im now in the process of trying to find another place, until then I guess I will have to do what others in my place would do. All in all, this place takes too many patients and you can not talk directly to your provider when they mess up something like not sending in your prescriptions on time. Before making an appointment here you need to make sure you have a doctor that completely understands mental health/substance abuse before committing to that doctor or this facility. I now see why they went from 4.5 stars to under 3.8. Again, they take way too many patients and dont remember anything you tell them from your previous appointment. I hate carolina behavioral care closed because the doctor i seen there, remembered everything about me as most great providers do. This place will have you buying medication off the street because of how stressed they get you.

I don’t recommend this doctor place to anyone! Especially the Marion office they have one doctor he is only there one day a week. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to call and play phone tag to try and get my son’s medicine. They have him on a prescription that’s a narcotic but when he gets low or takes last dose it’s always hell getting his medicine. It’s ridiculous I’m ready to find another doctor for my son to go too!

I was admitted to Old Vineyard 4 years ago for opiate addiction. I was inpatient for 8 days and outpatient for about 12 weeks total, by zoom meetings because of covid. The staff there is wonderful and truly helpful. I am clean and sober for 4 years now and I feel like a new person. Mr. John who worked on my floor was so helpful to me, I'll never forget him. They were all so kind because I was 61 years old and it was tough. They worked with me and gave me my life back. A lot of people never see the other side of opiate addiction, I had been on opiate treatment from my doctors since 1994. I'm very thankful that I made it to the other side and am no longer a slave to opiates. Thank you to all the staff at Old Vineyard who worked with me and were so kind and helpful. I am grateful to have a normal life again!! It's absolutely amazing!!!

A doctor here wrote a letter for the judge to give custody to my ex-husband because supposedly I was neglectful and abuse of towards them which I do have teachers when my kids were going to school down here able to say that my kids were happy and healthy sheriff that was at the school was friends with my oldest son and he never suspected abuse because I never abused my children. My ex-husband has literally been brainwashing my kids and to thinking I was a horrible parent alienating me from my children and they are allowing it they never got to hear my side. My ex-husband was cheating was abusive verbally mentally and physically towards me and that's why I got out .I do have proof of All of his lies and he has not one shred of evidence of all the lies he's been telling my children, and making my children think of me as the bad parent. Please freshen up on parent alienation so when a child comes in that is going through that you can actually really help them. I lost 14 years of my kids life because this place did not notice or acknowledged that my My children is with a narcissistic man that is telling nothing but lies to justify why he did what he did. I attached the photos you can kind of see of what I was doing with in a relationship with him. These are the ads I found and part of the reason why we got the divorce.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in North Carolina?
When comparing providers in North Carolina, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in North Carolina?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in North Carolina?
Yes. Mental Health US includes North Carolina providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all North Carolina providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
