When I first started going here I thought it was great. Christine Helton helped me identify what the root cause of many of my problems is and came across as very caring and empathetic in the first few months. After awhile though it felt like they were getting tired of hearing me discuss the same problems over and over again. They cut a few of my sessions a bit short and seemed uninterested in talking, so I stopped going here. I tried some of the coping mechanisms she suggested but none of them ever worked, so I've been just working through my issues on my own. She did a better job than people at other clinics I've been to in the past but that's a low bar to clear. There were times where I felt like she would talk about her own problems for far too long, and in any other type of situation I wouldn't mind listening but this session is supposed to be about me, it's what I'm paying for, and I get sometimes you may use your own experiences to empathize with others to kinda show "hey I know what you're going through" but I got the feeling she would over do it at times to the point where I felt like I was her consular. Another thing I didn't like when I would see Christine Helton is she would occasionally ask me "So why haven't you killed yourself?" she would ask this question a fair bit (sometimes rephrased a bit) and I have heard other people use this question or similar ones to try and spin it into something motivational. Maybe that's what they were doing, idk. But for me personally that is a horrible question to ask me. I don't have a good answer or a good reason to not kill myself. Every second I'm alive is physically and emotionally painful, I'm disabled, my life is going nowhere, I have no friends, my family has hated me since I was born. I would be better off dead, but for whatever reason I have always clinged to this little strand of hope within me that things will one day get better, so I just endure and go on. When posed with a question like this all it does is give me suicidal thoughts and pushes me towards trying to justify killing myself (even if that's not the intention). It's incredibly harmful!

This place has broken my rights as a business owner. The Director of their EMS program told a client of my group. That "they would not send their own family" to me. I simply used this place to help someone coming off fet to get their EMS team to come and administer them buprenorphine. they then intimidated, They pulled up my medical record on the ambulance in front of the patient and these comments were made. Not only was my business slandered but my name and HIPPA was slandered as well as broken.

This is the most appalling and unprofessional facility I have ever encountered. My brother is being held here, and it feels like a nightmare. He’s being given medication that keeps him asleep all day, and the staff seems completely indifferent to his well-being. To even speak to a nurse about him, you have to provide a mysterious code—a code my brother was never given when he arrived.

Not enough supervision for the amount of kids per group!!! Kids disappear for so long they have to call the cops to help find them and don't notify the parents until 4hrs later that they can't find your child and have the cops out looking for him. The cops stopped looking about 45 minutes before my husband arrived. They said there was 174 acres and the employees assured my husband he was still on camp and that he had only been missing since 6pm. They notified me around 7pm. It took my husband about 1 & 1/2 hours to get there. About 30 minutes later some stranger came pulling up to the camp with my son in her car. Thank the good Lord above that she was an honest Christian woman that brought him back to us so we could take him home with us where we know our child is taken care of and well supervised!!! She was going to her daughter's house about a mile away from camp and she found him hiding in the ditch at her daughter's house because he got cold! She stated that he was with her and her daughter for at least 4hrs at their house before he finally told them where he ran away from. My son also said he ate lunch at 12pm but didn't eat dinner at 5pm but they're trying to tell me he was only gone for like 2hrs. No matter what a child shouldn't be able to do this with the correct supervision!!! A lot of other things I don't agree with too!!!

Barium Springs is a beautiful area. The Orphanage ran for many years. This portion is now shut down. The structures are all still there. Our church, "Calvary Chapel," where we have a school K-12. This portion is connected to the church. It is amazing to see how these children have grown to be amazing, brilliant. They are healthy with a great vision for their lives. We are hopeful that it will reopen with our assistance. The brick houses are still there, and with some work, it will be revived soon. With prayer and our vision, there could be an amazing place for our children to grow into an amazing adults and thrive.

I’m disappointed by the other reviews I’m seeing. These people WILL work with you as long as you’re patient, and polite. No, it won’t happen overnight, but be patient and you will get everything you need. They are trying their best, and they don’t get paid enough especially the therapists.

As a parent to a Lucy Daniels student for past two-and-a-half years, I can attest to the wonderful classroom experience, the remarkable staff, and amazing therapeutic teachers that you simply won't find anywhere else. We are blown away by the progress our son has made since joining Lucy Daniels, and so happy we were able to get him the right support during critical stages of his development.

This is the worst place ever to get help. I’m not even going to get into it he details of it. However we were there for 7hrs to get my brother placed only to find out the facility was in Lexington NC and not Lake Norman, after I had repeatedly told them I just had surgery and couldn’t drive far. Like why did we wait all that time. Then it took Brittany 2wks to email an assessment to our lawyer. This place is super slow. It’s very ghetto. This may not be all Daymarks but as for the one on Carolina street in Statesville. Don’t even waste your time! Raggedy fr.

My experience with Southlight was mediocre. Scheduling follow-ups was always tedious because almost always we had to call back because no one at the front desk would answer. Especially during the pandemic, they started to fall off the radar with their service. My family and I would travel there for an appointment only to be told it was virtual, but it wouldn't be communicated properly over the phone. (When they finally picked up). This happened on multiple occasions. Another big issue was that when appointments were still in person, we would sit and wait for an extra 30 minutes, even if we came early. The two therapists I worked with were okay, the first one has since retired and he was the most helpful. I do however want to give a huge shoutout to the one nurse with glasses and red hair, I don't remember her name. She would engage in conversation everytime I went in for the check up part of my appointment, and actually gave me the most therapy I ever received during my time there if I'm being honest. All I'm saying is, proceed with caution.

it’s unfortunate that I have to put one star on here. My appointment for my daughter was 1:30. They called me at 1 o’clock to cancel after I had waited a month for her appointment for an evaluation to begin with. They then wanted to reschedule the appointment for January 3. Do I think they would honor that appointment for January 3 as well, resounding no!! Why would you call and cancel an appointment at the last minute for someone who is going for mental health. Wow!!!! Thank you for wasting a month of our time preventing care and then cancelling at the very last minute!!!!

The place is dedicated to avoid being around your addictions , other than that the environment itself is depressing with nothing to do other than COLOR AND WATCH TV, snack time, meals and routine checkups while your asleep , they ask you the same questions everyday and the staff during certain shifts are very unprofessional. The showers/bathrooms have a pissy smell and you will likely have a roommate .

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in North Carolina?
When comparing providers in North Carolina, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in North Carolina?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in North Carolina?
Yes. Mental Health US includes North Carolina providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all North Carolina providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
