The worst place you can go to for mental health care. The therapist Sean I had there was nice but he had no helpful advice to give and no coping skills. The psychiatrists are the worst. I had Dr. Emery as the first one. She insisted I was fine, meanwhile I ended up going to CPEP that then transferred me to South Oaks. Then I was given a new psychiatrist when I got out Roan Forgie. He was even worse than Emery. He made comments about my weight and how big I was, and how I need to exercise. Does he not know what psychiatric medication does, most cause weight gain. When my bipolar mania was going out of control, he completely normalized it and did nothing to help it. He just gave me Xanax to sedate me because he didn’t know what else to do. Even my therapist as dumb as he was encouraged me to switch and I switched to Jannet. She was the best out of a bad bunch. The first meeting with her, she was rude and out of line. The only way to make her happy and have her be nice to you was to dress up in nice clothes. Also Roan only tested my Lithium level one time I was with him. Even Jannet knew I needed to be checked and my Lithium level was dangerously low and it was a huge reason why my mood was unstable. But New Horizons dropped the ball. I contacted my therapist and asked him about the blood work and they said they hadn’t got it. So then he emailed Jean from medical records and she didn’t respond plus never tried to get my results. I took it upon myself to get them and I saw my number was way too low. What if I was in Lithium toxicity? If I didn’t fight for the results, they would have let it sit. That was the last straw for me. I now have a new care team and they have been wonderful. I am now on all weight neutral medication and I was able to lose the weight and I’m losing even more, so to Roan who made his comments, joke is on him. I also got my friend I met in group therapy out to, she now sees the same therapist as me and is much happier being away from this horrible place. If I could give it zero stars I would. Three years of horrible patient care.
