Beware - Sage is terrible about keeping appointments, returning calls, and providing service! My spouse went to Sage to be treated for depression, both medication management and therapy. They contacted Sage in November of 2024 and it is currently March of 2025. My spouse has YET to have received a therapy appointment that was kept. Therapy appointments were made, after a lot of nagging and calling on my spouse's part and were never kept. Sometimes, they were cancelled the day of, sometimes my spouse would show up and find out they were cancelled. Let me say again: my spouse is four months into their depression treatment with Sage and has NEVER had a therapy appointment that was kept. No one at Sage has ever followed up to try to reschedule these appointments that THEY cancelled. My spouse always has to call. It's shocking how unprofessional that is. We finally gave up on therapy through Sage and are looking for other options.

I was 14 when I went in. I was there for 9 months. I was in foster care from Aztec, NM and had cut my arm. No priors. I was in the hospital part for 3 days, then after I was put in the RTC. I tried to find joy in working out, and writing poems. It was terrible, they put you on a ton of meds, leave supplies out in the open that shouldn't be, and generally treat the patients like dogs. I remember it was Christmas day, I had no family, I was mourning. I got sent to the quiet room for crying, where the staff started picking on me. I was lightly bumping my head on the padded wall while rocking, they told me to stop. Of course since they were being rude, as soon as they looked away I did it once more. 4 staff came in and put me in a debilitating hold. I felt like my arms and knees were gonna break, as they pushed them the opposite way they are supposed to fold. They put a pill in my mouth, it melted. I woke up 3 days later so groggy. I had a little stuffed dog named Brutus, they took it while I was out of my room and refused to give it back. At that time I couldn't sleep without it. The staff was terrible. I forgot their names, but I remember the faces vividly. They let a girl eat only mustard and saltine. Didn't put her in the hospital. She came in about 250 and when I left she couldn't have weighed more than 80. I saw some STUFF there. Lots of emotional abuse from staff. I guess I was there so long because I didn't have anywhere to go, so they gave me to the school teacher. Who ended up giving me away too. I would love to see my files. This was about 19 years ago. Shout out to everyone who come out on top after this place. I am surprised there has not been a lawsuit against them yet. Do not trust them with you children, please.

The Dr is nice and understanding and all but my goodness how unprofessionally late she is to every appointment. It is ridiculous! The first few times I was understanding… but every single visit is not acceptable. And mind you I get the very first appointment. She walks in 35 minutes late talking to everyone in the office and then takes her another 20/30 minutes to call us back. We are never notified that she is running late. If you know she’s always late start booking her for later appointments! Please work on this!!

Michael Giudici left me homeless+alone in SF w/ less than 24 hrs notice, no resources & barred my therapist from seeing me as soon as he didn't get the $ from medicaid he was expecting, after 2 months of claiming insurance was sorted. 3 days was enough time for him to justify casting an addict in early recovery onto the streets of an unfamiliar city 1000 miles from home, several have spoken about his suspect intentions, snakey business dealings & adolescent interpersonal conduct. I'm glad he finally displayed his true colors in person rather than hiding behind his employees so that we could all see it for our own eyes! Be careful!

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in New Mexico?
When comparing providers in New Mexico, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in New Mexico?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in New Mexico?
Yes. Mental Health US includes New Mexico providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all New Mexico providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
