Don't let them think they are taking good care of your mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces, grandmothers, whatever a woman can be called. It is sheer hell. I have been out of this program for over ten years and the trauma I endured there makes it worse!!!!! If you want your loved ones to get help and Riverside treatment center is still open advocate to get them there. It is still DOC but it is healthier, happier, faster, better, and the staff there actually cares. The so called staff at Elkhorn don't even like what they see and that is straight from their own mouths. The "community" they try and create there is horrendous. When I was there it was a 30 bed facility now it is 50???? Anything to get more state funding I suppose. Nothing but trauma comes from this facility. The so called nice caring nurse doesn't care for nothing. Food sucks. The only only thing good that came from this facility is leaving it!!!! Advocate for Riverside and if that place is closed then just pray your female counterparts and write them there as much as you can and take as many calls from them as they can. Listen to them and be there for them because it is hell. Even visitation is hell as you have to strip down completely naked and be demeaned and feel like an animal and then your welcome back to the center after the visit over is a UA. Such a wonderful joy to see family but to be humiliated as you do it is horrible. God bless anyone who goes here

My ex husband received a letter saying That I owed a debt with Eastern Montana Community Mental Health in August of 2021. The Debt was from 2015 when we were still Married. I emailed and called them asking for verification of why I owed this debt. They did not provide me with any verification. They put it on my credit report in sept of 2021. After trying to get ahold of them to pay the debt, They finally answered the phone on Oct 25th. we paid the account but the refused to remove it from my credit report even though they failed to verify the account or respond to me at all. They also sent the letter to my ex-husbands address but not my own. They way the conduct their business is shady and unprofessional.

hello, about 3-4 years ago i was a patient here at YBGR for about a year, i left with more trauma than i came in with. the men staff use their power for bad and would “restrain” us whenever they got the chance, restraining consisted of 4 or 5 grown men tackling and holding down little girls to a point we couldn’t breath and would have lots of bruises and sometimes cuts, i was even in there with a girl who lost both of her front teeth because they got knocked out during one of these restraints and they didn’t take her to the hospital or dentist for almost 24 hours. in the lodge i was in 2 staff members openly talked about how they were also strippers and another would bring us vapes and marijuana dab pens. there was another staff in a boys lodge who would do sexual favors for them as well. all of the staff members when i was there at the time were young adults 19-25 i would say and they always took advantage of their power over us, i’ve kept in contact with a couple girls i was there with and they told me they had to get help other places after this because of the trauma it caused them also. i was once choked out by a new male staff while we were alone in my room together, i am now about to be 20 and give birth to my first child and i still have night terrors of things that happened to me at this place. to any staff members who read this my name is emilee ellis and i know you will remember and i hope you remember all the terrible things you guys did.

I was a child in 2 different group homes. They are terrible you get in trouble for everything. I put peanut butter on a pancake one time with syrup and I was grounded for it even tho that's a normal thing people do. They made me stay there for 4 years because I wanted to have a normal teenage life and they don't allow you to. The therapists would also try to make you stop contact with all family. Honestly I never benefited from being there. The second group home I was at one time for lunch at school I was sitting reading a book then after school they said i was smoking pot and had to get a ua which came back clean and I still got in trouble for smoking pot when I wasn't. When you assume it makes an ass outta u and me. Youth homes is better they actually make you feel like a human being. Aware wants a robot that does what's it told.

Do not go here it’s a non caring dangerous place. Everyone but these guys know proper diagnosis of mental illness ( check medical before giving mind altering drugs). They throw you on pills don’t give side effects nor the 2 weeks appointment when they change dosage. If you do know law and ask them to follow they send you to the prescribing nurse practitioner ( that’s right not even a doctor prescribing here) nurse the nurse ignores your call and never checks voice mail. This place needs shut down all over the state and never be allowed to practice ever again. Disgusting place try private mental health not people who must get bonuses for handing out pills

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Montana?
When comparing providers in Montana, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Montana?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Montana?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Montana providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Montana providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
