I was there for 3 months up to last week and I was bullied and ridiculed from day one by roommate the donations we get we don't always receive they seem to go out the other door they go out as fast as they come in. The staff is always keeping us under surveillance watching every move we make. And the counselors who are supposed to assist us getting a permanent place to live have their favourites to help while ignoring others

I love Dr Mary Holbrook , she understands the difference between a reaction to a traumatic event VS true mental health issues that need intervention. Been with her for maybe 4 years now and I have such a good experience with her that if I moved I’d still see her and if she left I’d try to go where she goes. She is truly amazing. My only complaint about this office is one of the nurses sounds a little new and unfamiliar with lesser known med side effects and instead of sending me to somebody who knew she kind of made me feel like an idiot for asking my question. But that’s neither here nor there, Mary’s radiant love for helping the community overshadows anything negative I may have ever had to say about this place.

Don't go here. You will not be treated like a human. Here, you are just a statistic. The doctors don't care, they don't understand trauma or PTSD. The only thing that matters, is their personal agenda. For you own sake and mental health. Avoid this place and any henry ford location close to the main campus or downtown. Travel if you can. The help you need, we need won't be found here. They will lie about you on your record. Know that.

If you are looking for a program to get your mental health in order, I would definitely recommend Brightwell Behavioral Health. Everyone succeeds in making you feel safe and comfortable from intake, therapists, tech staff, Chef and hospitality staff. This was definitely an experience that I will never forget and I've created bonds with people. The therapist and staff were very helpful being there and helping us work through our issues. I really enjoyed being there and being able to focus on my problems and not being ridiculed for what I have been through.

Psychiatrists do not know what they are doing at all, I was prescribed a medication that would’ve interacted horribly with another medication I was taking. Did not listen to me whatsoever and completely messed up my medication concoction just to put me on a whole different set up that barely keeps me stable. I was told that I would see a therapist within a few weeks at my intake appointment just to find out later that they have over a year waiting time to see someone. The case managers are poor and judgmental at best. I felt judged by my case manager at the first appointment I had with her. When I expressed I needed a med appointment to her she sounded irritated and acted rude towards me when it came to scheduling. I had initially attempted to switch med providers because mine atm is completely incompetent and has, seemingly, no education on med interactions. She also seems very arrogant for not listening to me and being distrustful when I expressed certain meds weren’t working for me. Absolutely horrendous at best. Switching psychiatrists as I write this. I only have 1 more appointment for meds just to get her on board with applying for benefits.

This place was a joke. First of all I needed(and STILL) need help. The groups/classes they had were almost nothing to do with mental health, and more about coloring pictures and having music therapy. The "Dr" that runs it you NEVER meet in person and you have to do like a zoom meeting with along with about eight different people also right there listening too(so you can never really have that 1:1 personal repore with) They let the other patients run in the hallways naked, and let a lady in a wheel chair sit and nod out and drule all over herself right in the damn hallway for hours. I went in on a great combination of meds that were finally working for me and the quack of a Dr decided he knew better. And left me detoxing off meds I have while I'm there to get mentally better, so ya just threw one more thing on my plate. Because of the weather they lost power and the good ole "it is what it is" attitude was back in play. In my opinion they did NOTHING to try to compensate for having kid meals, and no groups. Every decent in in-patient behavioral health unit I've been to have groups almost all day, and they literally fit the group about what your struggling with. Myself am struggling with grief over my father passing a little over a year ago, and also had retriggered my PTSD that I struggle with after serving our country for four years(right in the heart of the OIF/OEF war in Iraq , and Afghanistan!?!? They spend more time on their phones than helping or just sitting with patients having a hard time if you can know what I'm saying....

I asked for therapy and new medicine for severe ptsd and they sent me to a disgusting home that wasn’t even part of the campus. The room was not cleaned and left disgusting from the last patient. The worker said my only other option was a room with a man. Arriving to beechwood was a nightmare. And they wouldn’t even let me report it because they supposedly had a talk with their staff. A literal nightmare. Would you stay a night here?

A wonderful place to receive the help you need! They have helps me so much! I’ve been a patient since March 2018 and I highly recommend them! You have to be willing to do the work, you have to work at what you’re goal is! This is not the place to just go get a prescription and keep that up forever. They went to see you do better! They want you better and are willing to help: I have never had a doctor care about me like this. I am a MAT patient and I work hard at my recovery! I do my best to stick to the plan and keep up with tapers and always express how I’m feeling and doing with it and so on. Like any doctors office or usually takes time to get into one as they are very busy and caring for patients. I will say a few months back there had been issues with a receptionist and also during covid reaching the office took some effort and patience, but I feel that was the case for many doctors offices. The receptionist issue has been resolved and the new person answering the phones is very wonderful! Give them a try if you’re seeking psychiatric help. Just remember it’s worth it even if it takes a little time to actually be seen!

Beware for you and your loved ones’ sake. Do not think you are going to get the help you need from these people if you or a loved one is struggling with an unidentified mental health disorder. All the legwork is left up to the guardian. I think they owe my sister back pay for having done their jobs for them on behalf of our brother, who has been passed from facility to facility for going on two years now and still has no concrete diagnosis, care plan, or permanent residence that fits his needs. I think CMH is in part responsible for his rapid decline due to their lack of action and the people employed there not knowing how to do their actual jobs.

I Love my behavioral specialist. Her name is Nikki Sommers. This review isn't at her. She does a great job. BUT...I don't love Insight or their callous hearts. I give them a 1 star for lack of concern about heat, lack of concern and empathy about bouncing us around to different counselors, therapists doctors etc. I have been moved twice in a year with therapists here. I have had Nikki for a year now and felt a good fit. Now guess what? Insight is *revamping* things. I will lose her. Insight is messing with my cognitive and emotional anxiety and health here. Insight should NOT be putting people's emotional, Psychological or Physical health in jeopardy by ripping away people's counselors they way they are. Yesterday my counselor tried to compassionately tell me that in 3 weeks she would no longer be able to work at Insight with me. This is unhealthy for me. I have severe anxiety disorder, panic attacks, cognitive issues etc. But yet...here is Insight ripping counselors away with no notice. I have also heard from other friends that THEIR addiction counselors or doctors are being let go also. So, your *revamping* is more important than your clients health safety? Seriously? This is appalling that Insight is causing such an EARTHQUAKE to so many clients. You Insight...are messing with lives here. I DON'T appreciate it at all. I had finally found a counselor I trusted that worked well with me and you suddenly need to let go of her as well as my friends' counselors to *revamp*? Are you kidding me right now? We are pretty upset at your callousness towards all of us Insight. Maybe you should just close shop. You aren't helping us by doing this. You are making our lives worse and more unmanageable. You don't think taking away people's therapists and counselors with less than 4 weeks notice isn't messing with lives? Addicts? Anxiety disorders? Psychological issues? You don't just rip people's counselors away from people with less than a 4 week notice. That is total BULL. News flash. I won't be staying with you because obviously don't care a tad about me or my friends lives. You are just playing games with lives.

I have only gone to MPA for about 3 months but i promise you that i will never come back. I had Tracey as a therapist who apparently deals with children and family problems. Every session i have gone to she has always made me feel uncomfortable. Well today was the last straw for me. i am 17 years old and i was talking to her about family problems. she then interrupted me and told me i should stop talking about my abusers because it won’t change anything. I have also been going through gender services to transition. I was talking to her about my struggles as a trans person and how i feel its to the point i can’t express myself and on the fence about just staying in the closet. She responded by telling me many people staying in the closet their whole lives and it is an option to do. I also have a girlfriend of 2 years who recently moved in with me because of family issues. Tracey told me that “It doesn’t sound realistic that your parents allowed her to stay. Did you even talk about it with them?” For a matter of fact my parents welcomed my girlfriend with open arms into our house. The worst part of it all was about 30 mins through i couldn’t deal with being targeted by someone who is supposed to help me. I told her i was going to leave and she told me all my mental services including gender services will be shut off if i leave. She shouldn’t be working with family problems if she can’t handle it.

I love everyone I’ve worked with at CMH. Kind people who genuinely care. When I lost my Medicaid they helped figure out a way to where I won’t have to pay for my appointments. My psychiatrist went through looking up all my meds to make sure I can get the lowest price available. One of my meds ended up being very expensive, so they gave me all their free samples and reached out to their drug rep to see if they can get me a better deal. Both my psychiatrist and psychologist are so incredibly knowledgeable and you can tell they love their job. I’m so grateful for the care I’ve gotten here. I’ve never been this mentally stable and it’s all thanks to them.

BPD was first pushed by a therapist that did more harm than good when I was 13 years old. At 17 I was sent to a long term treatment facility and recommended to Ann Arbor DBT straight after due to my misdiagnosis that should not have been given. In the 8 months I was there, I cycled through 4 therapists because they kept leaving the program. I had turned 18 months prior and my therapist still thought it was appropriate to reach out to my mother and ask how I was doing. My mom was notorious for misleading my mental health care providers since I was 12 for her own personal gain. BPD diagnosis definitely aided in her frequent invalidation and discrediting towards me. In her true fashion, she mislead my therapist who I had not given permission to contact her after I turned 18. My therapist then brought in the director and sat me down and tried to convince me to admit myself to the hospital which I had just gotten out of. I explained the situation to two sets of skeptical ears and did not go to the hospital as mental hospitals have caused me severe trauma. Shortly after that session I was informed I would be switching therapists for a fourth time. I did not return to the program and haven’t tried to hurt myself since. I found myself a wonderful therapist and got my diagnosis fixed. CPTSD, not BPD…

I left a 1 star review because in this type of field either your helping people or your not. In this case they were unable to help me. I was recommended for a 10 day treatment program and was there for 15 hours. Luckily I was voluntary so I could check myself out. This place needs a actually doctor. I checked myself out because they had me wait in a secured unit. I'm not the waiting type when it comes to people of things I'm not familiar with. You guys said all this amazing stuff about the program but not one was I moved to the program after being there for 15 hours

I moved to their apartment complex Northwinds in 2021 while it was under GLD managment and it was an amazing complex, Then in may 2022 Listening Ear more specificlly Darla Earnest took back over managment of the complex. Since then she has let the complex go down hill. I went almost 8 months without a washer and dryer because everytime i would make a maintnence request it would get ignored, they only do maintence on certian apartments. When i lost my infant in august 2023 i called to explain the situation that my infant had just passed away and that my rent would get behind a little as i was going to have expenses that i was not planning for, she never once offered any kind of resources as to where we could see help for my childs funeral expenses, mental health resources or anything. When I had spoke to her about my rent being behind she and i had come to a payment agreement, but when she was contacted by our cps worker at the time about the washer and dryer not working and having gone as long as we went without one she then changed her tune and when i had stated that i would be looking at moving she then started telling lies about me to the other places i had applied for. Darla (Green) Earnest is a horrble appartment manager and i dont believe that she should be employed at a crisis center who dont offer any kind of resources for people who are truly in need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Michigan?
When comparing providers in Michigan, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Michigan?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Michigan?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Michigan providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Michigan providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
