I've been holding onto this story and finally feel brave enough to share publicly. My mother was brought into the ER July 2025 where my brother and I took alternating shifts to be with her. I was told she was being transferred to comfort care. My brother and I are in our early 30s and my mother was 60. While we knew our mother wasn't well, we were not aware of the full extent of her health problems. It's hard to hear anyone will be needing hospice but especially for 2 young adults who are supposed to be the patient's advocate. Her condition was not explained well to us and my neurodivergent brother had a hard time accepting. At one point, Simon from the ER came in to explain all of the tests he ran. He was extremely impatient with us but while he was there, a nurse came in to check her catheter. He snapped at the nurse to tell her my mom does not have a catheter because she is vaginally bleeding. The nurse continues to check her perineal area and he says "You're braver than I am." Later, when we ended up going to Mercy in Pittsburg, the staff had no issues putting a catheter in her so that my mom wasn't constantly in soiled briefs. Mindi Gardner ended up being my mom's doctor in comfort care. While my mom was in her comfort care room, we invited family to see her. 8 of us total for a few hours and we gathered around to pray for my mom. The next day, my mom is kicked out before we were able to speak to a social worker to transition her to a long term health facility. I am told to take my dying, immobile mother to her primary doctor. I also find out we were kicked out because we had 12 people in the ER and were performing a SEANCE. The only time we had visitors was in her comfort care room where you are allowed visitors! And it shocks me in this extremely Christian community that a doctor would have an issue with a family praying over a loved one. My mom ends up dying maybe 36 hours after all this and it was anything but peaceful thanks to this hospital. I drove my mom to her primary, to a nursing home, ambulanced her to Mercy, ambulanced her back to the nursing home. I am giving it the 2 star rating because if you need labs, you'll have a good time, and a lady from the kitchens is a golden gem of a person. My daughter's primary physician is Dr. Bonzo in Frontenac and we love him. GMC is lucky to have Kay Quick as well. She did my first pap when she was at Freeman and successfully distracted me from the very uncomfortable procedure.

I have been going here for 7 years and the front desk is the rudest lady I have ever met in my life, she is so emotionless and bland. You would think in a place that one of their first priorities is to make children feel better that they would have a happier person so greet them. Absolutely no customer service coming from her what so ever. All you get is rude attitude and rude comments.

As a former “patient” at TLC, I am appalled. I have had insane growth in these past two years, working through trauma and finding myself. TLC was simply another traumatic event I was forced to endure. The conditions are disgusting and sad. The therapists are simply not fit to be working with these kids. They do not work with them for self improvement. The whole point of the facility is to build a better behavioral system within a home— yet all these kids are taught is to put on a fake face so they can get out of there as quickly as possible. The activities and lessons they give to these children are completely useless. If you ever consider sending your kid there as a “punishment”, or you simply want to correct their behavior, PLEASE choose another way. One that is not degrading and dehumanizing. There are so many other options out there. Please consider your child’s mental well being.

My husband was brought in by ambulance from Abilene Memorial. He had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Dr. Curtis Kauer who assists people at Salina Regional. He is a horrible person. 😡 He uses threats and extortion as a way of manipulating his patients. (If you don’t do xyz, I won’t do the catheter in your heart) In addition, when he came back into the room after I spoke with the director he would not leave when asked. This is why the score is only a 1. ADAM (Charge Nurse on 3SE) and Gunner (nurse) were amazing. Adam listened to what I had to say, acknowledged my fear, heard my feelings about the doctor and then formulated a plan. Adam was the clam to my storm! He went way above and beyond! THANK YOU! Gunner was the nurse once my husband got to a room. He was kind and patient. He had fantastic bed manners. He was funny and very attentive. He answered questions without an attitude! It is my prayer that Adam and Gunner are rewarded for being like a fire cracker lighting up the sky!! ❤️

To make a long story short they would play games with you for the sake of the church of scientology ( a Hollywood cult that thinks it could provide therapy ) . It ain't safe, just don't go there . They would keep calling you after you leave for another therapy.

I don't understand why all these people are saying bad things about this place. They are great people. They do their job amazingly, If the people at the front desk have an attitude and treat you rudely, don't sit back and be quiet address it. Tell him how it is. That's how it goes otherwise. Elizabeth Leighton center. Is a great facility and they help everyone with their mental health.

I am reporting this place and looking into filing a suit against this place within the week. I know dang well I am not the only one that has had their patient rights violated. Good thing on my end is that I already have a law suit attorney from a wreck recently so I’ll nut foot this on the bill as well. This place is a joke definitely their APRN’s that are new. The old ones were amazing but now I know why they left!

Stormont Vail has been garnishing my wages/bank account since my stay in 2016, 25% of my wages and draining my bank account on top of that, which is legal due to HB2608- a law that was passed after Stormont Vail's debt collectors lost the Stormont Vail v. Sievers case in the state supreme court. Despite this, due to interest, I haven't dented the principal. This case is available to view online and I recommend doing so so you can see what kind of facility this is. I have spoken to a patient representative in the past who was horrified by my story and promised to call me back- but never did. This is a financially predatory facility which believes and has argued in court that if a patient makes below the poverty level, they should still be allowed to completely drain their bank account monthly.

I was involved in a hit and run accident caused by a TPD detective that totaled my bike and I wouldn't be able to tow it until the following day and I wasn't sure what to do, but Payton, the security guard, came out and let me know that he saw the whole thing go down and the shady business TPD had gotten up to after making us leave the scene. He then let me park my bike in their lot and assured me that he would personally keep an eye on it. Needless to say, my bike was still there and in the same condition that it was left the next day and the FBI was able to investigate and have the false charges against me dismissed.

My girlfriend runs the equestrian therapy program. The youth really respond to her and the horses. Horses have changed me a bit for the better I can only imagine how they affect the youth who deal with them more often than I do. I do not Luke placement for children I believe if able a child should be with their parents above all troubled or not. If the parents or grandparents are not an option and placement is the only option then I believe st. Francis is a place that can benefit a child I. That category especially with the horse program. I've actually seen the affects they have on children.

Kaylee Lopez is amazing! I’d give 5 stars just based on her interactions and professionalism. But calling and trying to get an appointment before the next ice age is next to impossible. My daughter has been an established client and when I called to make an appointment, I was told that I must first make an appointment for a “navigator” to get my identification and insurance. THEN that NAVIGATOR would make the appointment for me. The appointment for the navigator would have been two weeks and longer for the provider after that. Too many barriers to treatment as is, shouldn’t have to be even more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Kansas?
When comparing providers in Kansas, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Kansas?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Kansas?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Kansas providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Kansas providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
