I had scheduled an appointment been there three times in two days. Finally told to come in Monday first thing. What a joke the guy running this is a total flake. If you care about someone who needs help. Don't waste your time. I drove over an hour each way. They had enough people to get my insurance info just enough time to charge my insurance. It doesn't take an hour and fifteen minutes to check someone in. Then told they don't have the people for my evaluation. Scam scam.

I originally called and made an initial appointment for therapy, specifying that my partner saw a counselor at Phoenix but I couldn’t remember her name. I gave them my partner’s name and when they put me on the schedule they confirmed it was a different counselor. I had a great initial appointment and when I got home to share with my partner, we realized I had seen his counselor. When I inevitably got the call that I would need to be rescheduled for a different counselor, no explanation or apology was given.

I’ve attended this clinic for some years. I’ve taken a step back due to life challenges. I’ve had two appointments and my first appointment my concerns were not fully taken care of nor were my results shown online. During his first appointment, I had to wait about an hour and a half after my appointment time to be seen. I’ve messaged the doctor and I’ve got no response back, but luckily I had an appointment for the following week. Originally it was scheduled two weeks out to be an annual, but my concerns from the first appointment were not handled appropriately. Therefore, what was supposed to be an annual visit turned into something completely different and no care was given. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed because after canceling what was supposed to be a third appointment for an annual check up I canceled and I wrote my concerns and then when I logged into my insurance, the doctor was changed to a OB/GYN. I personally feel like this was disrespectful because I didn’t have a say and not only that, but when I spoke to the doctor about inquiring for OB/GYN, he shook his head, so I’m not fully understanding if this was a conscious choice made by him because I don’t believe that my insurance would’ve automatically assigned me an OB/GYN without having a family doctor. The only good thing about that clinic is one of the nurses I apologize about spelled her name incorrectly but her name was Tyneisha. She was an angel and a saving grace for this clinic.

These people are the worst!! It’s impossible to talk to an actual person without calling several times for several days to finally get a call back. When they do answer or call me back, they are extremely rude and unpleasant. It’s impossible to get medication filled in a timely manner. I’ve been on a certain medication for 14 years for ADHD. Now, all of a sudden, they want me to take various tests before refilling my prescription. I completed all these tests but still no answers. The last time I filled my 30 day prescription was 2/24. I’ve been without my medicine for several days now and no one at this facility seems to care how abruptly stopping a medication that I’ve been on for over a decade is negatively effecting my mental health. There’s no follow up. There’s no empathy. I’m filing a complaint with my insurance and the Indiana State Department of Health.

Terrible place to go if you need psychiatric care. I have been on ADHD medication since I was 22 and I had to switch providers. Now Ive been out of my medication since October and have been having major issues with getting anything done. This place would not continue care and said I would need an official diagnosis again through them. They made it sound like I could tested soon. A friend of mine went to get tested and they told them the waiting list was 2 years. So I asked on my next visit and was told yeah it's going to take 2 years. 2 years to get any help from this place. Bowen centers doctors and psychiatrist can't diagnosis something as simple as ADHD. So I totally do not recommend this place at all. They leave their patients struggling to get mental health and do not care about their patients.

They are not interested in helping. Here's a little secret. On the grand opening of this building the bosses threw a party for the ceo to cut the ribbon as the staff and the therapists got nothing, but and increase in patience with reduced time and over scheduled.

They don’t actually care about there paitients and most of there business is from people on probation who are forced to go there it’s all about money they don’t care about your life or your well-being coming from somebody who’s mom has worked here and told me about the corrupt things that they do. It’s a shame they don’t actually care

I had prescriptions through VU's counseling program, and this office was the number I was told to call for refills over the summer when campus services weren’t available. When I called, I was told I needed to schedule an appointment at their office. Before doing so, I specifically asked if the visit would be covered the same way it was when handled through the university. The receptionist checked and told me it would still be covered. Based on that, I scheduled appointments. Each visit lasted about five minutes, yet I was charged around $200 per visit. I ended up going to three monthly appointments just to continue receiving my prescriptions. Only after those visits did I find out that I had been given incorrect information and that none of the appointments were covered. I made multiple phone calls trying to resolve the issue, but the staff and manager refused to take any accountability. I was told, “I don’t know who told you that, but I’m sorry,” and that nothing could be done about the charges. It is extremely unprofessional for a receptionist to give out incorrect billing information, especially after I made a point to ask and double check, and then expect me to pay so much based on that misinformation.

I don’t believe that they follow HIPAA rules. When I tried to talk to them about it, they just repeated the same thing. They seemed to be upset that I was questioning them. I have filed a HIPAA complaint. I would have been happy to discuss it with them, but they didn’t want to discuss anything and that is not acceptable.

Was going to go here but after talking to the woman I was told that for intake it's just walk in only no appointment. I'll just keep looking for a different place to go to because I am not going to wait and then get told come back later this week or next week for intake. I rather have an appointment for the intake not an walk in and sit and wait for several hours or worse get told that they reached their limit for today on intake.

This is a warning to anyone in a sensitive mindset needing help. Beware of this place, they WILL turn you away. First I called to ask how the intake process was as I never had to admit myself. Man on the phone laughed at me and basically just said that I just have to walk in and they'll handle the rest. Didn't even make sure I was safe or ask for a call back number. It took every ounce left in me to walk through these doors after attempting suicide. I wanted to be committed to save myself. The old woman at the front desk told me "It will be SEVERAL hours before anyone can even see you. You're more than welcome to wait here, but it'll still be SEVERAL hours before someone can meet with you. I suggest coming back at a different time, maybe in the morning after breakfast!" Not exactly the way you should speak to someone literally ASKING for help to not kill themselves. They do not care about you. Do not go here if you need help. Thankfully I received help elsewhere, that's why I'm still alive and able to write this, no thanks to Sycamore Springs.

I have been to quite a few mental health centers in my life and this place wants you to jump through hoops before they will give you medication you need, that is not how mental illness works! I really wish half of these people had to deal with half of what I had to deal with daily and maybe they would be able to understand. But sadly not 1 of them do but they definitely judge you and definitely do not help you 1 bit!

The only good thing about my stay was Brigette and Betty. They deserve a merit based raise. Thank you to Girlie also for you amazing bedside manner. It’s the honest ones that keep it real and keep the program going. Thank you to Amy; a tech who listened to me. Thank you to Gregg and Doug and Gregory the tech for all being stand up guys. It was great to have some Christian focused music groups so thank you Jackie and your colleagues in healing arts. All in all; I pray I never have to return; but I wanted to mention the nice faces and the strong Christian value of some of the employees. I felt like I was not given the time of day by the physicians and I felt like I did learn a lot though through all the mandatory classes. Lastly; thank you Angel and Suriah; and anyone else I forgot to mention. The ethical ones stick out in the best way.

My husband has seen them 3 times. They refuse to get him on medicine even though he clearly needs it. He had a mental breakdown and psychosis tonight and became agitated and aggressive. Probably could have avoided that if this place did their job. I lost my marriage because of the unstable mental crisis he’s gone through that he has BEGGED this place to help him with. Zero stars if it were possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Indiana?
When comparing providers in Indiana, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Indiana?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Indiana?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Indiana providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Indiana providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
