I am genuinely impressed with the Department of Veterans Affairs, especially Danielle, who assisted me in locating and confirming my DD 214. I reached out to her on Friday, and she had precisely what I needed by Monday morning. This is the best service I’ve experienced from any business or educational institution in a long time. I had some reservations, having heard that state-run offices tend to be slow, but the Department of Veterans Affairs proved otherwise. I’m incredibly grateful for Danielle, who has done an outstanding job!

The entire team at Greywood is incredibly compassionate and talented. I feel grateful I ended up here and not another PHP/IOP program. They meet you where you are with patience and grace and support you every step of the way. Shoutout to the leadership team of Annie, Cathy, and Tim - their program works if you’re willing to put the work in.

The Link & Option Center is the Best non profit organization for mental health that I have ever experienced. They have an outstanding team who works endlessly to help you obtain every resource you need to get to where you are going. They provide Mental assessments, resources for the homeless and as well resources for rental assistance and basic necessity needs. When I met the Link & Option center as well as The Living room staff I was homeless with no job. The living room opened there center for me as a place to lay my head and get myself together. They allowed me to use there computers to fill out for job applications and rental units and as well they fed me every night. Within a day or two I was able to find a job. From there they connected me with beds plus who is helping me find shelter until I find an apartment on my own . Dr.Green and her team not only did all of those things for me they also out the kindness of there hearts booked me a hotel stay for one week with all expenses paid and breakfast included. Not only that they bought me brand new clothing as well as a beautiful duffle bag to transport my things. This staff has really touched my heart. For a person who was just sleeping on the cta redline I now have a job and weeks away from obtaining an apartment on top money for hotel & food and plenty of new clothes from the linking option center. Thank you so much Link & Option Center for everything you've done for me I truly love and appreciate you all. Thank you Dr.Green for building such a prestigious organization and staff. I pray that GOD blesses you all. Love, Alesha James

I could not find anywhere that could get me in to see a councilor till a friend of mine who goes here recommended me. I called and had an appointment the next day after being on countless wait lists other places. By far the friendliest and caring staff I have ever experienced and I’ve been to many places trying to find a place I am comfortable with. I will make the hour and 5 minute drive to this place so worth it! Thank you so much!

Amazing experience from labor to delivery. The nurses and doctors were kind, attentive, and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay. Thank you for taking such great care of me and my baby! A special thank you to my OB-GYN, Dr. Tomur. I was transferred by ambulance due to an unexpected delivery, and Dr. Tomur was there right away to help and support me through the process. I would also like to thank Nurse Mary Ann Leano, who cared for my first baby. She even took the time to visit me and check on my second baby despite being off work that day. Her kindness and dedication meant so much to our family. We are truly grateful for the exceptional care and compassion we received.

I had an overall positive experience at Sandstone. The staff genuinely cared about me, and they helped me make continuous progress. The facility is a well organized environment for recovery. I felt really supported throughout my recovery and would recommend this center to anyone seeking help for addiction. Also, the alumni program is a great way to stay connected and do fun activities with others who have faced similar challenges.

The staff here are very kind, well-organized, welcoming and extremely helpful. The front desk admin Kat (or Cat) was such a sweet person to meet today, and I thoroughly enjoy working with psych NP Linda. I feel like it's a big improvement from the Bucktown location problems and unfriendly staff I was working with there, and it's a welcome relief. I am switching to this location and I am so happy to be working with them now. Thank you for taking good care of me.

I love Dr. Rose, and I've seen him for a year or so now without issue. But Sky. She was very inappropriate in making remarks about my appearance and it wasn't okay. That was out of line, mean-spirited and certainly not her job. I'm quiet, making me an easy target to talk down to. But it doesn't make it okay. It was pretty atrocious and surprising. It reminds me of middle school bullying. But from an adult. I can't change my face, but I'm uncomfortable coming in now, and I feel bad for no reason, so thank you for that. How awful.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Illinois?
When comparing providers in Illinois, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Illinois?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Illinois?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Illinois providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Illinois providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
