The State of Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA), located in downtown Chicago, Illinois, is dedicated to empowering veterans and their families with the resources and support they need to thrive. Through its comprehensive services, IDVA assists veterans in navigating federal, state, and local benefits while ensuring access to critical areas such as healthcare, education, housing, and employment. The department also operates Veterans’ Homes across the state, offering long-term healthcare solutions for eligible veterans in need of residential care.

In addition to traditional benefits assistance, IDVA provides targeted programs to address pressing challenges faced by veterans. These include specialized support for those experiencing homelessness, programs dedicated to women veterans, and the Illinois Warrior Assistance Program (IWAP). IWAP delivers trauma-informed case management and emotional wellness support for veterans coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), military sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. By partnering with over 200 community organizations through Illinois Joining Forces, IDVA ensures that service members, veterans, and their families receive holistic care tailored to their unique needs.
