I was transferred here after spending a day in the ER due to a misunderstanding, and no one believed me. They thought I had psychological issues. After being brought here by ambulance, they left me sitting in a room in the basement with nothing but a sofa. They didn’t do anything; they just left me there. More than 7 hours passed before someone finally came in to ask me some questions and took me upstairs. I had my vitals checked and an assessment done. The staff member who conducted my assessment was terrible—she kept doing other things or turning to talk to others while assessing me. I had to stand at the counter for over 2 hours just waiting for her to complete my assessment.

Scheduling is a nightmare, even established patients must wait 30-90 days for an urgent or return visit. Frequently, I've been left medication-less because of the inability to be seen before medication ran out. Good luck to you getting a med refill sent to your pharmacy in such a crisis, when you're out of meds and can't be seen for weeks. I was left SOL more than once.

Dr. Erica Johnson was very disrespectful and very rude. She ended the call without providing me further information as to the medication that she is supposed to prescribe and also did not inform me on the day supply that she will be prescribing. She used vulgar language and was not professional throughout the zoom call. I would not recommend this facility or this doctor to anyone who is need of assistance with their mental health or medication management!

This place is very unprofessional and completely made up a lie on me if you’re looking for help to change your life or for PTSD like I was you really should try to go somewhere else because this has made mine worse and I trusted them When you have PTSD it’s already hard to trust someone to tell your story but when you have one appointment and you start feeling comfortable, they deferred me and told me I could not go back over a staff’s mistake But of course they’re gonna protect theirs, and I’m definitely gonna protect mine

Had to post this review because my report was ignored because “i had delusions and psychosis.” If you have addiction problems, do not send your loved one here or yourself. They give out ativan like candy, and someone overdosed while I was there. When I confronted one aid she said, “Is it really bad if it’s helping people?” YES. Not sure if most people here are just miserable with their jobs, but night staff gossips and talks about all the patients. I wish I remembered more of y’all’s names, but one aid said “she used to be hot but now she looks like she’s on ozempic.” Jacob texted me for 9 months after I got out of treatment, and I really felt like he was the only nice one, BUT he had a fiancé the whole time. shocker! Apparently, “we don’t have a jacob ———— that works here…” convenient! Aids stole my earplugs, chapstick, and other belongings when I would try to stand up for myself. I didn’t get my clothes for four days when I called my stepmom and she told me she dropped them off, and when I asked “no one has sent anything.” I dealt with a narcissist for four years, and this place is full of them…anyways someone should investigate this place because it’s rotten from the top down. Some of you need to find new jobs because you obviously can’t empathize with suicidal addicts, such a vulnerable population. Most of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

My daughter spent over 2 months in your care. I attended 2 virtual court mtgs and listened to the psychiatrist's and case manager's report. I must say I'M VERY GRATEFUL to ALL of you! I've got my daughter back. You were also instrumental in helping her transition to an apt. She'll continue with outpatient support for her meds and counseling. I got to see and hug my daughter today when she came to my home to get some of her belongings . I'm fighting back tears as I'm writing this review because I've witnessed Father God's mercies and healing through your professionalism. Thank you for giving me my daughter back. You were also kind enough to communicate via email with her brother aka advocate during her care because he resides in Chicago.Keep doing what you're doing. Thanks and blessings.

I wouldn’t recommend Laurel Heights Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia to anyone. From the moment you walk in, the place feels cold and unwelcoming. The staff seemed overwhelmed at times and underpaid and sometimes inattentive, often leaving guardians and children waiting for hours without updates, especially the admission portion. The facilities looked outdated and old with peeling paint and broken furniture in common areas, as well as leaking basements, gas leaks, and disgusting bathrooms. Communication here was a nightmare—i was often left in the dark about treatment plans, and questions were brushed off with vague answers. My child’s clothing go missing constantly and it’s not replaced. She forgot her jacket at home and the facility did not provide any jackets to keep my baby warm. You get in touch with the operations director and she makes you promises she can’t keep and extremely uneducated to say the least. Instead of being a safe space for healing, Laurel Heights felt more like a warehouse where kids were numbers, not people. If this hospital wants to call itself a place of care, it needs a complete overhaul in staff training, basic compassion and new management overall. Side note: A previous staff that use to work at that place shared pictures with me at church.

Negative stars if I could. This place not helpful at all with treating me for postpartum psychosis/depression. If you love your friends or family dont go here. Workers are verbally and physically abusive and when I tried talking to anyone about it I was called the crazy one. I was physically held down and had my head slammed off the wall for asking what the medication was I was getting injected with. As the patient you have the right to know. After hitting the back of my head I blacked out. I let the nurse desk know that the evening shift hit my head off the wall and I needed medical treatment for it and it went ignored as if I was crazy. I suffered a concussion from it and vision and memory issues. The people that I had were so heartless. Please find somewhere better for your family and friends that will actually help instead of cause lifelong trauma.

While this place certainly isn't without problems, they have great therapists and psychiatrists here. Meg and Dr. Park being the best. Because of the sliding scale setup, I can get mental health services and prescription medication for free. The front desk people don't answer the phone as much as they should, but everyone here has been very sweet to me and it cannot be understated what a big deal it is for me to be able to get medical care here. I can't afford insurance, this is all I have. So thank you to everyone at this center!

I was there for six days and the staff were horrible. They wouldn’t let you in your room to sleep but they wouldn’t do any groups to keep us busy. They also wouldn’t turn the tv on so we could at least pass the time. We weren’t allowed to get a copy of the schedule and they refused to let us see it off the wall. The psych doctor told me I couldn’t take one of my meds because it was over the FDA recommended dosage. Then they got mad at me because I wouldn’t go outside. I told them if I go outside I will get hot and have a seizure. They told me that’s not how seizures work and said I’m not participating and they can delay my discharge. I had the Pyschiatrist ask me if I’ve always been heavy or is it just recent. Then I had a therapist make me talk about what happened in front of the group even when I told them I don’t feel comfortable talking about it. Then said this is why you can’t leave you haven’t processed what happened to you even if it wasn’t your fault, you still need to move on. The food and the kitchen staff were horrible. When I asked for certain things on my plate, she would roll her eyes at me and get frustrated that I didn’t want things. No one checks on you except to see if you had a bowel movement and if you are seeing or hearing things. They never took patients out in the hall or into a room and ask if everything was oki and what they could do to help me cope outside of here. If I could leave a zero star review I would. They barely deserve the one star review. They also refused to let patients go down for visitations. I had a seizure while there and they wouldn’t let me lay down afterwards. This place is the worst mental health hospital I’ve ever been to.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! There is a reason the reviews for this place are so abysmal. “Dr” Banjoko at the Savannah location is an absolute joke and has no business providing psychiatric care. I’ve spent a year and a half attempting to receive treatment from this place with no avail. They have been more than happy to take my money each time I’ve walked through the door, but have provided me no therapy or medication. If you have literally any other choice, other than Horizon Behavior Health, then go there. Otherwise, you can expect to come back time and again in order for them to collect your co-pay and insurance without actually providing care. In the middle of a national mental health epidemic, it should be a crime the way this place operates.

I am very disappointed in this location. I made an appointment the week before with the doctor. I drive out to this location and I assume because of the snow storm they shut down even though there was no snow on the ground. I was in outpatient and it was awful. In hindsight, I was just a joke to them. They played a meditation one day with curse words. Every other word out of Angelina’s mouth was a curse word. They were, in the least, unhelpful. I see your response but I think that this experience made me feel inside that I was not worth helping.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Georgia?
When comparing providers in Georgia, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Georgia?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Georgia?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Georgia providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Georgia providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
