Dr Kumar is an excellent physician with comprehensive knowledge of the medications relevent to emotional distress and mental illness. I feel very well cared for since he was recommended to me by my family practice doctor at UCLA Health. He’s a good listener and has always explained everything clearly.

Dr. Duel is the best psychiatrist I’ve ever worked with. I’ve worked with many in Los Angeles but actually takes the time to listen and go over all issues holistically. His medication recommendations set me on a great trajectory forward. His staff was helpful and very responsive. Rare to get people on the phone these days but the PsychBright staff are helpful and responsive. I feel comfortable knowing I’m under his and his team’s care.

I have found a wonderful psychiatrist, and my experience has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very first appointment, she has made me feel comfortable and understood. She takes the time to listen to me and provides thoughtful insights and exceptional care. They provide a modern approach with an online intake process with a friendly front office to address any in-person questions you might have. Would definitely point anyone needing psychiatric care here.

I had the chance to team up with Chrystal earlier this year when a parent of a student of mine was seeking assessment. We worked in close collaboration over the course of the assessment and Chrystal was incredibly knowledgeable and very professional. She explained the process well and made my student and her parents feel at ease during the assessment process. We truly enjoyed working with her and highly recommend her!

He's fantastic! Very knowledgeable and caring, understanding, and non-judgmental. In my experience, he's excellent at working with you to identify root causes of anxiety and stress and helping you plan a healthy and reasonable path toward managing and overcoming those obstacles. He helps you become empowered. He also makes speaking with him very enjoyable and non-threatening. Most of the time, I'm actually a little bummed when the session is over because I'm having fun. My path with him has taken a few turns: started out with trying to tackle a specific phobia (flying) and has pivoted to managing emotions associated with loss, getting older, and letting go of things that no longer positively impact my life. In every stage, his help has been great and exactly what I need. Talk with him about once a month, but that's just what feels right for me. Can't over-state how helpful he is.

Familias Unidas has been extremely helpful. Everyone has been so kind, polite, and respectful, which I truly appreciate. They have been able to answer all my questions and provide me with detailed information, which made me feel even more comfortable and confident with the entire process. Not only did they answer my call quickly and efficiently, but they were also able to schedule me at an early date. They sent out reminder text messages, which were helpful. I would definitely recommend Familias Unidas to friends and family.

Launch Centers

Launch Centers is a wonderful place for young people needing assistance, launching them into transitioning from adolescents to young adults. If the concern is mental health, addiction, or dual diagnosis, their team, starting from your first intake call with Clint, to the front office, Charlotte, already sets the tone for a warm, caring, and well-trained staff. Jess is very intuitive and involved, Steph helps ease your financial anxieties, and once you meet the clinical team, you know your child is in good hands. All the therapists I have interacted with were significantly vested in my children's mental and emotional success. I have worked with Amanda, Jake, Chloe, and Nancy, and they treated us with compassion and endless care. I am grateful that my children's lives have changed because they went through the PHP and IOP programs at Launch.

Love the environment, well organized! Group meetings are amazing. It has helped me as a parent to have a better understanding of my daughter’s feelings, emotions and actions. My daughter also gets to see and understand where I’m coming from, and this gives us a moment of reconciliation/healing. I can definitely see the progress

I can’t thank this IOP enough. it truly saved my life. The facilitators were amazing. They weren’t just there to do a job; they really cared and took the time to help me understand myself and what I needed to do to stay sober. I learned so much about my triggers, how to cope in healthier ways, and how to build a solid foundation for recovery. Before starting, I felt hopeless, but this program gave me the tools and support I needed to turn my life around. If you’re struggling and thinking about getting help, I highly recommend this place. It’s a game-changer.

My daughter completed both short‑term and long‑term treatment at OPI, and it was the first program that actually helped her. Before coming here, she had been admitted to five different hospitals. Not one of them diagnosed her correctly, and she was placed on the wrong medications repeatedly. She was declining fast and told me she was “a hopeless case.” OPI changed that. They took the time to evaluate her thoroughly, properly diagnosed her, and corrected her medication plan. She is now on fewer medications and the correct ones — and the improvement has been dramatic. Since returning home, she is functioning again. She’s preparing to return to college, she has gotten a job, and she’s finally moving forward with her life. OPI gave her a chance that no other place had been able to give.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How should I compare mental health providers in California?
- When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
- What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
- Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
- Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
- No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
- Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
- Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
- What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
- If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
