Rebirth was wonderful. The day i got to detox i felt welcomed and the staff was on point, anything we needed they were there..support, meds, any questions i had, they were there. The clinical director Karim is just down right AMAZING. He led majority of the groups. He genuinely cares, and it shows! He is so wise beyond words. I could&would sit in on his groups any day of the week! California alone brought a good experience but rebirth, the staff here and their involvement in my first 35 days getting sober is what set a solid street for me to begin this sobriety train! The outings, support, building connections, meetings, groups... rad! Forever grateful. Mad love and respect! Thank you.

Iris was a great place for me to receive treatment. It helped me to continue through the process of a healing transformation. The woman that made it possible for me to go there, the project manager as well as some facilitators really had a strong impact in my recovery process .. I have been to several different clinics all over the state and I can say personally that this clinic goes over and beyond has more to offer with gender phones insurance in guiding hands their case managers here are wonderful if they have a day room for to watch TV warm up and have a sober healthy place to keep space in. Very knowledgeable about local resources. I enjoyed this place very much felt welcome and cared for. Other places I felt isolated individualized picked on bullied an experienced racism and everything is as it should be there is right there is wrong there is the law and sometimes there is what really happens there's not a lot of people who stick up for people no matter of their past as long as they are good people. And if you become a good person and do what you are asked of you will fly high in achievements 🤟🏽🙏🏿🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏼 also Como Espanol all staff ⚕️

Best hands down recovery services in the Valley to help families in need. When is last time you received a call back several times in one day with caring professional staff who listen and tell you they will help you today and will even secure getting your loved one to the program. I was in Southern California yesterday 5/14/2026, and a desperate big sister needing inpatient for my dear little brother. The staff walked me through what to do and spoke to my mom and my brother and provided step by step help which led me to bring him to treatment that SAME day. I drove from Palm Springs area to Visalia and watched my brother get cared for by friendly staff when I took him for intake. We all know there are no words when we are that family member. I want the Governors Office of our state to know what this agency stands for in the Valley. Each precious person can have a place who is in need at this program. Get help for your loved one today. Don’t be afraid to make that call! Look at this inviting recovery home I took my brother to!

TMS was a great experience for me! This was something I had never heard of until recently and decided to try it out, and the idea of it had me skeptical but I genuinely saw an improvement in my mental health over the few months it took for me to go through with the treatment. Juan does exceptional work and makes his clients feel important, as well as the rest of the staff there. No complaints here. Only thing is that I had some cheap wired headphones I would use to listen to music during the treatment however the magnets short circuited or did something to break my headphones, but this was warned to me and I took the risk, that's on me. Just throwing that out there so you guys don't make the same mistake I did. Thanks TMS!

"I cannot recommend Ventura Recovery Center enough for anyone seeking a truly comprehensive path to recovery. From the very start, the detox team made a difficult process feel safe and manageable. What sets this place apart is how they balance professional clinical care with holistic wellness. My therapist and case manager were incredible advocates who tailored everything to my needs, while the group facilitators and technicians provided a consistent, supportive environment daily. They even incorporate practices like sound baths, a local gym, yoga and equine therapy which added a much-needed layer of peace and healing. It’s a place that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms."

Journey Hillside is like a second home, only better. The detox was well managed and I felt my comfort was top priority. My room exceeded my expectations and was very comfortable. The staff was knowledgeable, very compassionate and made me feel secure and loved. The groups were informative and time was taken by the staff to truly listen and provide thoughtful feedback and advice. Individual therapy was challenging in good ways and really helped me to think about things from a different perspective. Having a private chef was also a plus. I feel I have been provided more tools to continue on this journey of sobriety and recovery than I had anticipated. I enjoyed going to the different 12 step meetings and also the outings. Tarzana is beautiful and Journey Hillside is my top recommendation for anyone looking for a complete program that treats you with compassion, dignity and respect.

As a former patient with dual diagnosis (mental illness/drug addiction), SJBH’s Intensive Outpatient Programs was instrumental in providing their services to me. I called and made a convenient in-person appointment the next day, and felt comfortable enough to do what I felt was best regardless of some feelings telling me to postpone, or even to be argumentative to the person I was speaking with during this appointment. I joined the Outpatient Program and started the next day. The ambiance and staff are sincere, the hours are convenient, and lunch is served, and there are other programs available that are free including a family evening of about an hour or so, where clients like myself and a family member, or significant person comes with you for a casual meet. I, after years of depressive illness, social separation, loneliness, hopelessness, and the stigma of shame or guilt and ignorance endured not only from myself, but from the World around me, the horror of addiction and it’s paralyzing negative effects to my mind and body, I spent considerable time off-and-on searching for treatment, and I learned some things: First, not to give up. Second, to consider all possibilities regardless of what my mind may of told me, and that I certainly still and always had the willpower/ability to make a change for a better life. I was at first surprised yet skeptical when I found that help (regardless of any negative assumptions my mind was telling me) was literally around the corner from me. Me, in one of my most painful, physically and mentally challenged times due to exhaustion from addiction and discouragement from many mental health providers over many years made a willful and mindful decision to at least call SJBH Outpatient Program and ask how will you help me. I was comforted having accepted the Program and immediately began feeling like I was now gaining self-control. I enjoyed the smallness in the size of attendance in the Program, and the true caring of people helping me, and being with my peers; people like me. So much I didn’t know, I now know, and it has has helped change my life from the pain I was suffering. I did not complete the Program because I had a set-back which is typical yet not shameful of addicts or other ailments, and re-enrolled. Mental illness and addiction are painful, yet I have the power to change it. The difference between good and bad is me. I encourage you to decide wether you prefer to live in your darkness or in a familiar, or new light. You probably don’t realize the difference between the 2 at this point, but choose the light, and make a powerful and willful choice to stop living in the dark, and live now in the light while you have this chance. Remember, that even though you may loose encouragement, or experience a set-back, know that you have already accomplished much, and that can’t be taken away. Get back up and move forward again, and again. You are not alone. To this day I am not relieved of depression yet, but I’m relieved by having the courage, willpower and determination to act while being hopeful. Thank you SJBH. In addition, I do have opinions on Methamphetamine addiction and it’s pros/cons. Also, the psychological and physical effects either temporary or sustaining. And, some aspects of my own mental illness such as major depression. These opinions come from my own experience and knowledge. However, this Review is not the forum for that.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
