Hands down the best experience at an ER. Upon my arrival, I checked in and within 10 min or less, I was called in for vitals and immediately from there straight to a bed. Another nurse was ready for me and greeted me very welcoming with two heated blankets and covered me as I laid down and said the doctor will see me shortly. Although I was impressed with service up to that point, I thought to myself…”here’s where I’ll be waiting for ever for a doctor to come see me”’ because that’s how it usually is in the ER right? Well, they proved me wrong real quick. The doctor came within 5 min, we discussed my symptoms, I answered his questions, he answered mine and he proceeded to examine me based on my symptoms and quickly explained the plan to get me treated. He left and right behind him came the nurse with the medicated IV and connected me in no time, I didn’t even hardly feel the needle. Right after her came another nurse to draw the blood needed and at the same time I was getting hooked up to get an EKG done. Again, within 5 min, they came with a mobile X-ray machine and took an X-ray of my chest and as they left came the therapist and hooked me up to the nebulizer machine for asthma treatment. I got 3 rounds of treatment back to back and each time the doctor came immediately after to check on the progress and explaining everything in details. He was pleased with my last round of treatment and told me that as soon as my IV was done I could go home. I can’t express enough how pleased and impressed I was with the entire experience. Not a single moment was allowed for me to be impatient or to wonder when someone or the doctor would come to see me. It was incredible. I was in around 9:30 AM and out before noon. I highly recommend coming here, the entire staff was genuinely caring willing to go the extra to make me feel comfortable and at ease. A big thank you to all involved in my care!!!

I came to SFV Recovery in pretty bad shape. The administrators, Counselors, and other staff members showed empathy and compassion towards me. This nurturing environment allowed me learn about my triggers, attitudes, and character defects. With this understanding, I've been able to turn things around and live a healthier life which includes being free of active addiction. I would highly recommend this program for anyone who seriously wants their life back. The road to Recovery begins HERE.

I graduated from Crossroads 20 years ago. The program consisted of groups, meeting and chores. We were not allowed to go to our rooms during the day to rest. The weekends we did house chores all day, taking everything out of kitchen cabinets etc. or on weekends we had an all day garage sale, not able to rest all days and weekends. At the time I didn't stay sober. Now I have been clean and sober 3 years I am 66 yrs. Old. I remember often of the hard program Crossroads was. Yet, thank God I had a place to live sober. Okay, try Crossroads lots of not lazy people like I was lazy could enjoy this program. Laura Shirley

Stay away from this place. I have a family member there and we can not get a hold of him after over a month. They mistreat people on purpose and treat the family the same way. You can not inquire on how your loved one is doing. They are allowed to smoke but not allowed to drink coffee. Good is bad and bad is good. The place need to be shut down yet somehow its still operating. If people get through the program it it because they want to leave and never return!! This is weather they leave and relapse or not. Horrible place!

Dr. Reid has been a wonderful doctor to team up with for my mental health care. He is genuine and intelligent, he knows his profession well and I feel like I'm on a promising road to healing and that I'm in good hands having chosen him with my care. You can tell that he cares about the proper treatment for the individuals best outcome and wants to see you improve, not just collect payment and go on to the next patient.

They delete any negative reviews!!! I was here for three weeks, I asked for my ID when I was leaving. They never returned it to me, they said they sent it in the mail, but I never received it. Management is insanely, rude, Every single person I was there with has relapsed since leaving. Even the people who were sober, the longest still ended up relapsing, commenting that this place clearly does not work.

This program has a bad reputation across the board with a lot of clients I have come across. Also, known for being really cheap, no outings or anything exciting about being here. You will get bored easily, they have a strong turn over of clients who end up relapsing. I entered this program genuinely wanting help and support during a very vulnerable time in my life. They work with really shady sober living Homes including Pacific Recovery and Spark Recovery in Winnetka and Sherman Oaks. I am under the assumption that the sober living clients in these home’s are body brokers due to recent conversations with clients in these homes. It’s all a business at the end of the day. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this program to a friend or family member. This program is complete trash. If you like to sit in a room and be baby sat all day go for it. Staff appeared extremely overworked, understaffed, and emotionally burnt out, which impacted the overall quality of care and support clients received. The environment itself did not feel clean, organized, or professionally maintained, and communication/support often felt lacking during vulnerable moments. Recovery programs should prioritize compassionate, engaged care and proper staff support, and sadly that was not my experience here. Myexperience left me feeling more overwhelmed than supported. Communication, follow-up, and continuity of care could have been handled more professionally, especially regarding insurance and discharge coordination during a mental health and recovery crisis. I hope the program continues improving its approach to compassion, communication, and client support for future patients seeking recovery.

I cannot say ENOUGH about Rainbow Hill Recovery and the incredible people who run it and work there. We had to act suddenly to support someone we cared for and were at a loss when it came to locating a facility that supported the issues specific to people in the LGBTQ+ community - not to mention a solid, comprehensive program tha helps people struggling with mental health (or substance abuse). They ALWAYS put the patients first. Rainbow Hill not only went out of their way to inform us and make us feel comfortable, but their consistent communication, their variety of courses, and the caring each person puts into every day they work there made all the difference. Our loved one is thriving and we feel like she found a second home at Rainbow Hill Recovery. We were so blessed to have come across them and we only hope this review will help others find the same support in their own time of need.

Oro House Recovery – Mar Vista is truly exceptional. The staff genuinely care and take time to understand each person’s story instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach. The homes are beautiful, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed for healing. Their compassionate model, combined with evidence-based therapy and holistic care, creates an environment where real recovery happens. I left feeling hopeful, supported, and equipped with the tools I needed for lasting change.

My experience at Luxe Recovery was truly life-changing. From the moment I walked in, the staff treated me with compassion, respect, and genuine care. The environment was safe, supportive, and structured in a way that made the detox process as comfortable as possible. The medical team was attentive and professional, always making sure I felt heard and cared for. What stood out the most was how much they truly wanted to see me succeed—not just in getting through detox, but in building a strong foundation for long-term recovery. The counselors provided encouragement and resources that gave me hope again. I am deeply grateful for the kindness and guidance I received here. If you or a loved one are struggling and need a place to begin the journey of recovery, I highly recommend Luxe Recovery. It gave me a second chance at life. Johanna, the program director is genuine and compassionate, Katie, the chef is absolutely amazing and the best cook ever. Laura is caring and supportive, Nik has a great personality, Danielle is sweet and caring, Joe has a great personality and is funny, Jenny is sweet and makes sure the house is squeaky clean. Brett is strong about recovery and loves taking clients to meetings and outings, and Buddy and Buddy's mother are always there to cheer you up and make you feel at home!

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
