The doctors and receptionist will gossip about the patients while you're sitting right there. Wait times are ridiculous. You won't get your full time or even close to it. They flat out don't care. It's a machine and you're a piece they're begrudgingly supposed to fix. But they don't want to, they just want your insurance.

DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE!!!! They will keep you WAY longer than you are supposed to be here, even if it is a voluntary hold. My friend was admitted on Thursday of last week and i haven’t been able to get ahold of him on the phone until TODAY (MONDAY) because of the rude staff that answers the phone. they have a bug infestation, and the workers do not take harassment claims seriously. if you truly care about the HEALTH and well being of yourself or your family member i highly suggest to find another facility!

I had 3 or 4 different therapists in a 6 month time frame while I was there. Everyone kept quitting. It is a stressful time for everyone and it is hard for me to determine a reasoning, but staff fleeing an employer is never a good sign. I want the people trying to help me with my mental health and well-being to be working in a positive work environment where they feel appreciated, that their work is purposeful, and they are compensated respectfully. As a patient, I do not want to be bounced around before evening having the ability to get to know my therapist. I also feel as if the psychologist was a little too willing to prescribe medication, when there was no way to know if it were necessary because I had not had any stable, reliable connection with any therapist. They left me feeling more hopeless and less likely to ever seek professional help to maintain mental health help.

I had some difficult, annoying situations that happened and I had to have them switch my pharmacy twice trying to pick up this one medication. Obviously, I would prefer to just pick it up, and it was really annoying for me to have to keep switching the pharmacies and calling. Thankfully, the lady on the phone let me know that “Just so you know, we can’t keep switching pharmacies like this.” Thank you. It’s literally your job. And it was equally frustrating for me. That comment was so unnecessary.

Had one session for my child. Went well with therapist. Had an appt scheduled for an assessment to see if my child needs anything for well being. I was not able to make this and called to possibly reschedule due to not being able to make the certain time. Receptionist is very rude and the first thing she told me was they would be billing me a $50 fee. No other options besides a zoom call. We have only been with these people for 4 days and if that's the professionalism they have to offer we definitely will seek services elsewhere. It's a shame because my child did enjoy talking to the therapist and was excited for the next appointment. Obviously I chose the wrong place when finding a therapist!

Scheduled an appointment over a month in advance only to get a call the day before saying my appointment is cancelled and can’t be rescheduled for another 2 weeks (I agreed to this date because I’m a teacher and don’t like missing school, so my original appointment falling on a break was ideal.) The only other date offered was after we come back from break. It is extremely frustrating that it is so difficult to receive adequate mental health care.

The care giver that is helping my mother called to get assistance, they needed to call me , because I'm a power of attorney a week later they finally called . They lady told me nope they can't do nothing my mom's bed ridden 79 years old . Why do they even say they help the elderly? I'm starting to get real aggravated all these organizations say they help the elderly. Even the insurances say they help out with supplies you call them up to find how to go about doing it they say nope we don't cover nothing . Very very aggravating!!

They don't treat people equally that's for sure. They play favorites. For example I'm sick with a bad cold, which tends to effect my tachycardia more for some reason and I just feel like crap, and they know this but they purposely gave me the hardest chore of sweeping the stairs knowing I have trouble even climbing the stairs, meanwhile a couple other sick residents got told they don't have to do chores today.

When I first enrolled to become a foster parent I was so excited. The classes were going smoothly. however halfway through the process I developed a medical issue. When I realized what was happening I withdrew from the classes. A few weeks after I made the decision to withdraw I received a phone call asking if I would still reconsider. While taking the classes I was always reminded how much of a difference I was going to make and that the Ohio Mentor family was the best decision I could make, however this could not be further from the truth. When filling out the forms selecting what type of child I would be willing to take, I was influenced to not be selective. This was one of the worst decisions I could make. Ohio Mentor agreed to purchase a bunk bed for me so that I could start the process immediately. The first time I received a phone call for placement, I declined. After declining, I was asked why. When I explained the obstacles and red flags, they always seemed to have a solution. I was told that childcare would be set up and I should be fine however that was not accurate. At the last moment child care was set up, however it was not setup properly and dropping the child off that morning became an issue. Ohio Mentor then offered me childcare but I live in Amherst and the child care was in Grafton yet my employment was in Huron. This took away for me being a mother to my own child, by having to run back and forth. My son became resentful almost instantly. After this child left my home, the bunk bed that Ohio Mentor purchased collapsed. For many weeks I was promised that they would purchase a replacement for me. After many weeks waiting with no communication, I purchased a bed on my own, so that my son no longer had to sleep on the couch. I had no intentions of doing foster parenting anymore. However they reached out to me again asking me to reconsider stating that this time it would be different and there would be communication and so I took a second child. While I had the second child he also was a high-level child. During a violent situation I contacted the emergency hotline for Ohio mentor yet received absolutely no response. I actually contacted them twice. During this incident, the child jumped on the hood of my car and cause damage as well as attempted to throw huge rocks at people, I contacted the police and he was removed from my home, however the police physically chased him around a few blocks. Had Ohio Mentor answered their emergency number this child may have never have ended up in the detention home. I was told over and over that I would not have higher level children yet every single phone call that was made to me was for the higher-level children. When I ask to refill out my form be more specific on what type of child I would take I was denied. I was told that once the form filled out that was it, i just have to be wiser when I get the phone calls. However when the phone calls came they were extremely good at dumping the sympathy story and had me believing that the next child would be different and that the level was just a number. I eventually changed my phone number.I truly believe that Ohio mentor pushes the higher-level children fot the higher profit that they will make. I also feel like communication process needs to be re-evaluated. Some employees will be honest with you but they are not the ones with authority. I only decided to write this review because every time I get a letter in the mail from the prosecutor wanting me to leave a victim statement against the child that had to be removed from my home, it angers me. It should have never come to this. I've been told by other friends that foster, that I should switch to another agency, because it is not like this at other agencies. At this point, I fear the same type of outcome, that I will not.

This place is extremely unprofessional. They will schedule appointments and then no show on you. They will then be rude even though they can't even schedule or show up. All they care about is money. Whoever runs this place needs fired. Save yourself the trouble if you need help and go to a different provider.

Used to go here, for many years. Company is disorganized, calling in is a joke, constant turnover, sort of a pain and suffering mill going there. If you stay a few rounds, great for them and if you bolt, they know they have 25,000 more mentally ill in the area. Waiting room is dirty and trashy, this is not a welcominig environment.

don’t bother going here. staff doesn’t care and will let the phone ring for +30min repeatedly and will straight up lie about prescriptions being ready or being refilled. i withdrew from my antipsychotic because i couldn’t get my meds refilled for over a week, despite DAILY calls to the pharmacy and multiple messages sent on mychart. these people just do NOT care and it will ruin your life if you’re someone like me who is medicated for multiple things with multiple medications. if you do have to use the company for whatever reason, make sure you start calling daily for a refill a week and a half before your meds actually run out

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Ohio?
When comparing providers in Ohio, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Ohio?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Ohio?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Ohio providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Ohio providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
