Well, you might want to steer clear of Dr Basilli at the Human Behavior Inst on Jones Blvd unless you are looking for a very disingenuous & rude therapist. I am a retired Navy Chief with an absolute cargo ship amount of issues to work through. I have a 20 lb service dog that always gets a bit excited when my name is called. My boy sometimes barks just a few times before I go in for any appt at the VA for example. Anyway, my first & last appt started with Dr Basilli telling me if my dog kept barking, I would need to leave. The lobby was empty at the time & my boy only barked twice. I received that greeting from the good doctor who was more than five min late instead of getting a warm greeting of hello or a handshake like most doctors would have done automatically. I told her she really didn't need to say what she did, but she corrected me telling me that "Yes, she did" with her ooohhh scary glare. I told her that I would tell her some things & she could tell me if she thought it would be a good fit in seeing her for therapy. I admit that my past is incredibly troubled with sexual PTSD going back to childhood & too many negative things occurring until now as I continue to deal with tough issues at 61 years old. As I spoke, her facial expressions were that of being uncomfortable & disinterested while letting me ramble on & on. I have issues spilling out of me & once I get going, there's a whole lot to say. Here's the best part of my experience with her & the main reason for this review. After 25 min, Dr Basilli doesn't say a word to me before turning around to work on her computer. I was literally speaking to her back for five min or more. I finally told her I didn't like having to speak to her back. Without turning around, she said that she was looking for a referral for me. I'm thinking to myself that I would not take a referral to a coffee shop from this woman, but she still wouldn't turn around. She found a name, handed it to me & proceeded to tell me that she doesn't deal with sexual PTSD. I informed her that I wouldn't have opened up like that if I thought she wouldn't possibly be the one to treat me. She walked me out. I told her honestly that the reviews of 2.6 that I read about the Human Behavior Institute were very accurate. I threw away her referral as my search for a "qualified" therapist goes on! 🫡

They’re not handicapped accessible. I’ve been coming here over a year for my kids and they moved upstairs. Also, doesn’t really offer family therapy. My ex had druggies living with him while he is actively using, and he was given time to take care of the problem. My kids say they’ll kill themselves if we’d move to Missouri and CPS came knocking on my door. (Which I mean what teenager doesn’t feel like this when their parents make a difficult decision to move when they can’t afford the current living expenses that is RENO?) Instead of getting the same courtesy to explain my situation this was the move they made. my ex can not get them to school either and yeah . Biased company

Went here for major anxiety. New “patient” intake is 14 pages of nonsense. Showed up 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork as requested. Literally sat waiting for 20 minutes. My appointment was at 9.

Definitely recommend Northern Nevada Hopes and their staff. They are always super friendly and make you feel welcome. Their sliding scale is also very affordable for patients that don’t have any insurance. :)

I am not happy at all, I sent my 12 year old daughter here to get help and with in 5 days of her being there she gets assaulted by a 16 year old. Why is it okay to put someone that is almost an adult with a minor? And mind you why were they not being watched like I was told they would be? Please be careful and over look and ask questions before sending your love ones here.

Apparently they got three people/stations you need to see before you can see the psychiatrist or get services. I took my friend Ashley Fleetwood yesterday & 2pm. She only saw two. They said to come back tomorrow to see the third. We came back at 1015 AM. Then they said the third person or station on the conveyor is not available to see you. Come back later at 1:00 or come back tomorrow between 8:00 and 10:00. So that's going to be the third time we're having to go down there like we can instantly teleport. When all this should have been done the first day.

I would first like to start off by saying this review is in no way to bash Desert Psychological. I am just leaving a truthful/honest review of my experience when visiting this office. My nephew has been in school since he was 3 years old and the school indicated that he may be on the spectrum for Autism. He was referred to this facility by his Pediatrician for testing because he has developmental delays in certain areas. I visited Desert Psychological to obtain testing and a proper diagnosis to deal with his current issues. When I first visited the office and told the the receptionist (a gentleman) that my nephew needed testing for Autism he almost immediately turned me away and said there was a 7-month wait list. He took down my phone number and insurance info and said they would call me near the 7-month mark. I explained this to my Pediatrician and asked for a referral to a different location and she said to just wait the 7 months first and if they don't service us then she'll oblige me with another referral. We get to the 7th month mark and there was no phone call so I visited the office for a second time and the same gentleman stated that the staff "does not know much about Autism,"; without even attempting to test my nephew for other things (i.e. ADHD or some other neurological issues). This was on a Friday and the gentleman once again took my info down and said he would call that following Monday; since I had mentioned that I waited 7 months. He NEVER called. It's been over a month since the last visit and STILL no phone call. Just blatantly lied. He was NOT very pleasant or eager to help. The encounters I had with him were very awkward both times. People often say "Reach out for help" or "There's help available," but when you reach out for help you're turned away. It's very frustrating and you just want a helping hand to deal with the issues that you or a loved one are experiencing. With that, I do NOT recommend Desert Psychological to anyone seeking medical help, attention or diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Nevada?
When comparing providers in Nevada, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Nevada?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Nevada?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Nevada providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Nevada providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
