There are some serious systemic issues at this treatment center, but I do believe that there are some very competent and caring individuals working for them. I had an extremely negative experience in November of 2024 due to staff and personal negligence, and I had to seek extensive treatment to heal from what happened during my stay there. Pros, however, are that there are now private rooms at the crisis center that aren't shared with people known to be criminally violent or dangerous, and you are allowed to get snacks for yourself whenever you like at the crisis center. I will not be returning to Woodland Centers for any treatment again.

I wanted to like this program so much but currently as it sits the program is trash.... I'm unsure if they just got all new management or what but none of the staff are on the same page what the rules are vary from staff to staff not to mention the HIPPA violations I witnessed alone would get some of the workers fired. The program they work is literally made for prisoners therefore unless you're familiar with or plan to go into the prison system it doesn't really make sense for the average mother. Not to mention you also lose time from your required hours for taking care of your children during programming when literally that is what this program Is for. Getting into trouble for not being in group because you had to take care of your baby when your in a program that's designed for women who are mothering while they are in treatment.... It's really a big mess. They discharged one girl after she "started problems" in group after simply stating if her skin was a different color she'd be treated different literally immediate discharge of her and her kids... No plan to get her into a new program just kicked to the street same with me because they missed something in my bag when they searched and found it they did the same no warning just immediate discharge not to mention literally stealing my property and kicking me out and not returning what they just took from my room. They also called the other family programs and disclosed my situation basically trying to blacklist me from family programming because they can't do their job properly.... It's a shame because this program is needed there are so few of them but this one specifically isn't running smoothly or ethically or efficiently for women with real life stuff they just have nothing in order it runs like a crabby 3 year old with no sleep that's hungry to put it the best way I can. I'd suggest looking elsewhere if your serious about reunification or quitting substance use in general this program just needs to shut down re train their staff and maybe reopen but they literally did nothing but set me back and leave me for vultures

This whole experience was disorganized. The intake person was nice, but then we had to get scheduled and rescheduled three times because each therapist the intake person recommended was not available. We finally saw someone twice, but I called and emailed multiple times to schedule again and never got a response. I then got an overdue notice on the bill when I never had received an earlier invoice!

If I could give 0 stars I would. If you have a choice not to come here and you're not court ordered, DONT. They don't give seconds on meals and the meals you do eat are very bogus (high carbs) to the extent that I've lost about 5-7 lbs as I even told them my concern about my weight due to having a fast metabolism and faster recently due to exercise which will naturally speed it up, in just a month being there mind you. You also have to sign a day in advance 3 fricking times just to be able to have a little more freedom in order to get off supervised passes, you have to go with someone in order for that to happen too, and if you've been missing even an hour of group, you cannot, and if that wasn't the worse thing, you must be off supervision passes in order to even work. They thought it was a smart idea to remove the fitness room in 3.1 and lo and behold, there's no real morning routine activity there nor real oppurtunity for comradery in that gym sense. I'm in a sober home now in Kasson now thankfully, after being discharged dishonorably considering the day I got kicked out, I had made all groups that day, hate to admit it, but I was trying to hide my smile as I was being told I had to leave. They did make sure to give me a ride back to the twin cities, and i'm very fortunate I made a very close friend in Valleyview who looked out for me as well as my mother in order to get where I am now. Lastly, the medical staff are super uppity, as in the ones behind the bubble or desk, and I highly doubt even understand recovery or addiction, there's a few good ones sure but most need a reality check. The staff are decent, that's one thing, counselors more or less, RS...meh. Danyelle was my counselor and she was the only one that seemed to care about me at all and held me accountable. The rest could really care less if they were able.

Dropped my wife off this morning, wondering about this place with some of the reviews about being left along, thinking it was just bad experiences. She called my 2 hours later saying the case worker said nurse would be in at 1030 and therapist at 1115. Fast forward to 1125 and the "case worker" had showed her around and put her in a room by herself to do some crossword puzzles... Abandoned. Nurse never showed up, therapist hadn't either. I told her to go to the front desk and say what's going on? They said oh, we don't put you on group right away the first day and the nurse didn't know she was supposed to see you... Oh, and there's some paperwork to fill out in your folder. None of this was relayed to her and she was simply alone with her thoughts, the exact reason she's at Rogers trying to fix right now. What an absolute disaster of an intake process and it seems to be a recurring theme with clearly nothing done to address it. Rogers, how can you read all of these reviews saying the same thing and NOT address your intake process? What a joke. I'll change the rating if it improves, but not leaving a good impression on a key part of treatment, making the patient feel valued and see.... Nah, we'll just toss you in a room by yourself with some puzzles.

The person that answered the phone when I called to schedule an appointment said they wanted to do a diagnostic assessment. I told them I did not want to do that and that I have an assessment I can provide them. She said that was not an option and contemptively asked why I didn't want to the assessment. I assume because I have a diagnosis of adhd which is a disorder that is treated with controlled stimulants. I told her I did not want any discrepancies between their assessment and the assessment that I have. She said fine send me your assessment. So she lied and said I had to do their "assessment" and when I gave her an explanation that was acceptable to her she changed her mind about this "policy" that required me to do a new assessment and asked me to send her the one I have. This way of thinking can result in misdiagnosis, opinions that may impose false ideation onto patients as patients will often act based on the opinions of others, unnecessary pain and suffering as a result of misdignosis, medications prescribed that do not reflect the actual disorders the patient might have. The list goes on. Stigma and the condescending attitudes and determinations made by providers based on opinion rather than fact result in MALPRACTICE. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. they literally do not know what they are doing

They have no desire to help you or your child so don't bother contacting, go anywhere else. Today ends a 2 year saga of trying to get my son in for an evaluation. I received a call this morning that they've changed their policy and a 1 hour parent interview is required before children are placed on the waitlist for an evaluation and that waitlist is over a year long. We've been waiting 2 years, always hoping to get him in before he starts kindergarten, I'm done waiting. They also claim that I refused appointments but how can I refuse appointments I was never offered. I've answered every phone call and email from them. Go somewhere else. Fraser is not worth the frustration.

MORE LIKE ZERO STARS!!! Stay away from this place! We sent our son for about 6 months before our therapist left to another practice and we followed her at her urgency. We paid all of our co-pays, and due to a "billing error" on Lee Carlson's end that took months literally to sort out I finally was able to sort out our final payment in March of 2024. Received a threatening letter today stating I still owed money after a whole year?! This place should be shut down they are criminals trying to make people pay more than they owe, not to mention the unethical things going on that caused our therapist along with many others to leave. I never leave reviews but seriously save yourself the headache of dealing with this place. I will be sending all of my documents to the attorney General's office tomorrow proving that I have paid in full and a letter for them to stop harassing me!

We had an ok experience for intake but doing the intro appointment before DBT with my teen made me so uncomfortable. The person we spoke to was robotic and had no sense of life. They were vehemently focused on being on script and really came off kind of cold. My teen made a silly remark and the response was night and day compared to the intake person that made us feel comfortable. We are not going to even bother moving forward because of how awful that intro to DBT appointment went. Just because you went to school and got a degree doesn’t mean this is the job for you. If you have no joy or life to you, you are a help to no one in crisis. I’m really disappointed because DBT helped me so much I was hoping to get my daughter the same help. Not from here it looks like.

The actual therapists are great, but front desk staff has quickly gone downhill. I used to be contacted hours in advance in case an appointment had to be cancelled. Now, I’m contacted hours after the appointment would have been over. Sometimes I’m not even contacted about cancellation at all. When I call and ask why I haven’t been notified about an appointment cancellation, they insist that they DID call me despite not having any missed calls or voicemails from the front desk whatsoever. I think it’s extremely unfair for clients not to be notified ahead of time if an appointment needs to be cancelled. They need to be better about this.

My experience with this clinic left me feeling judged, isolated, and unsupported from the very beginning. During my intake appointment, I was asked what type of therapy I wanted to pursue. As someone new-ish to therapy, I wasn't aware there were different therapeutic approaches or what might be appropriate for my situation. Rather than helping me understand my options, I was handed informational materials and given a HUGE amount of information without much explanation. When I struggled to answer her questions about what type of therapy I wanted, I was met with long periods of awkward silence and staring that came across as judgment rather than guidance. Instead of feeling helped, I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed for not knowing information that I believed a therapist would help me navigate. The appointment ended just as abruptly. I was told I could leave, was given little direction regarding next steps, and was referred to a different clinic without much discussion. I wasn't even shown where to go when leaving. While referrals can certainly be appropriate, the overall interaction felt very cold and impersonal. I will never go back here, this was a time when I needed the most support and guidance and yet I left feeling more frustrated than ever. This was one specific therapist, Ana Knighten, that made me feel this way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Minnesota?
When comparing providers in Minnesota, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Minnesota?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Minnesota?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Minnesota providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Minnesota providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
