My mother in law has been to that hospital so many times and they never seem to do anything to address the issue. The communication is pretty minimal - she was admitted and nobody called us. We had to do the whole runaround to figure out what was happening. We even had to talk to friends who work there (insane) just to get info. They leave her in that ER for hours and hours. It seems like the doctors are just there to check a box in their careers and aren’t super invested in the patients or community. That’s been our experience. I’d never tell someone to choose BMC. It’s been mostly very frustrating and negative for us.

I was a resident there for about 6 months before I was discharged for not following the rules. I will always be grateful for the farm. I learned a lot of stuff there and interacting with the animals is something I will forever cherish. So if you or someone you know is trying to go to the farm here's a few things to keep in mind. Following the rules is very important and they are in place for a reason. You may think that some of them are stupid but again they are there for a reason. Take advantage of everything that is offered and if you need something ask. Always give 100% while working with the animals, you'll love it. The animals are special and I promise you you'll fall in love with them. DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS!!!!!. This Is one of the rules I had a hard time following. Some of them are on medication, some are on special diets and they can also get sick. The farm can be a really good place if you listen to suggestions, take your recovery serious and hold yourself accountable when you need to. Remember that this is your life you're fighting for and you are worth it.

Had a virtual appt, no link sent, no call, called to find out why and was told I was marked as a no show. Was by home phone & cell phone with husband next me, nothing. Never missed an appt in 10 years. Check your providers, this is not the first time this provider has messed up on an appt with me. I had an appt once in the morning and was called at 5pm. Very upset as they kick you out after a few no shows

It is actually insane how abysmal their psychiatrist/med management services are here. EDIT 9/19/25: LMAOOOO once again they’re dragging their feet and have just an utter lack of urgency filling my meds. Multiple times I have missed doses because they do not know how to do their damn jobs. I will continue being a pain in the ass until they improve. Every single time filling my medications, there is an issue. Every single time. One time they told me they simply didn’t feel like filling my Vitamin D meds because “you can just get it over the counter 🙄”. Today, they called me a liar, said I had refills left for my prazosin (I take both 1mg and 2mg. The 2mg hasn’t been refilled for a month) and then said because I didn’t have a provider, I’d be getting only two weeks (or even just seven days) of my meds. The lady at the front desk was so insanely unempathetic. When I asked to speak to someone else, she outright said no, screamed at me, and then transferred me to some random extension. You know why I don’t have a provider? It’s because Elliot has such a high turnover rate for psychiatrists that all of them usually quit in a few months. They then will sit there, twiddling their thumbs, and take MONTHS, or even a year to replace them. Their medication management services are genuinely some of the worst I’ve seen. I have CPTSD. If I do not take my prazosin, I will have panic attacks in my sleep and night terrors. They have no empathy at all and give you attitude over the phone for being understandably upset at them constantly playing games with your medication. Their therapy services are fine. But I think I will be switching to a different provider for med management. Actually insane how bad it is here.

The community services program is an absolute joke. My worker, LARA, actually suggested I use AI to fill out my social security re-evaluation forms…. Also the program is very short term but she’s leaving on vacation for an entire month??? And decided to tell me at the last minute despite this vacation supposedly being in the works for a “long time.” Then to top it all off whenever I get upset during our meetings she acts defensive and terrified… like hello you’re working with the mentally ill… it’s not all rainbows and sunshine. I could go on and on and on about how awful she is. But I’ll just say this: she purposely called me today at 8am despite knowing that I cannot function this early in the morning. Now I’m unable to go back to sleep because I’m all worked up at her audacity. She just wants to solidify that I’m no longer answering her calls so she can close my case and go on her ridiculous month long vacation. Guess what… you got what you wanted. I am leaving your dumb case. You should seriously find another profession because you are completely unqualified to work with mentally ill people.

I've had great therapists/counseling here.My meds were a whole different issue. I'd been there for about 5 years, and only left late last year. I am reviewing now because I just found out that medication providers ignoring pharmacy requests/issues with RX, was only a River valley problem. I always had to call here and leave a message to pass on to my provider that there was an issue with a Rx, like prior authorization. Just had my new place and my pharmacy think I was an idiot because I thought I had to call the provider and let them know. I had a major issue with my first med provider, with a miss diagnosis and extremely sedative medicine cocktail to go with it. Also, the worst thing about this place is the people you have to talk to to get a message or issue to your provider or counselor. There is no direct way to get to your provider, you have to go through assistants or admin people, So rude, so much like I was wasting their time, like I was a 'problem' patient. I left after I got fed up with the attitudes for requesting a sooner appointment. None of this had anything to do with my new meds prescriber, Paula. She was thorough and listened, and I made my following appointments with her typically. It was a headache if I ever needed anything, but my counseling there was probably what made me stick around, it really sucks establishing a relationship with a new counselor, and hoping they're the right fit.

Call to get prescriptions refilled ahead of time, no one calls back. Leave another voicemail, get rudely told to stop calling them and assume they did it and call the pharmacy, only to call the pharmacy and they didn’t do it… every month I go through this to get my medication leaving me without my medication because they have poor communication and treat their patients even worse. Thank you for leaving me without my medication again that I need daily.

Meg, Denise, and Jill were magnificent, however, the end result of me asking for help and entering this program was terrible. I am a single mother and with all the support I had within the recovery community, I found myself needing something more. I ASKED FOR HELP! The Plymouth Gosnold facility was suggested to me. The female Nurse Practitioner Roma, threatened me, stated I needed to go to a detox or else she would need to take further action. Why? Because my UAs came back positive. So, this "harm reduction" facilities staff reported me to DCF because I could not get into a detox. Again, I am a single mother and not 1 single time has my daughter ever been in danger, neglected, or abused. I understand the concept of "mandated reporter" however, I believe this was an ABUSE OF POWER. I never went to the facility under the influence, I always participated in groups, I even got a nickname "spicy spitfire." This woman met me 2 times and it was virtual both times. The most troubling part was a "manager" encouraged her to submit the report, a manager who never met me 1 single time. This is a travesty. As a result, DCF invaded my life for nearly 6 months, making me even more nervous constantly. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE MADE TO FEEL THIS WAY WHEN ASKING FOR HELP. I am not submitting this to scare people away from asking for help, just go elsewhere. I will say again, Meg, Denise, and Jill were wonderful. If you do elect to use them, do not disclose your personal life, especially if you are a single mother. I felt targeted by this woman, which is sad. She claims to have been doing this for 20 years, well it may be time to hang up your name tag, because she clearly has no concept of determining whether someone should be reported to the absolute worst organization in the country. This abuse of power seriously harmed my life, kicking my PTSD, anxiety, and depression into HIGH GEAR. The case was CLOSED a few months later because there was NO FOUNDATION, NO ABUSE, NO NEGLECT, and no resources were provided, only because I already had them all. I grew up in recovery and have plenty of ties within the community. ABSOLUTE ABUSE OF POWER. ROMA should be investigated for abuse of power. I am probably NOT the only person who has been harmed by this abuse of power and won't be the last.

If you want to seriously help your child work through trauma don't come here. We requested to have in home therapy and they sent someone very young and inexperienced. The supervisor lied and told us this individual was experienced and later admitted she was in fact not when we had communicated no change and his school saying the same. His therapist we sent was a genuinely sweet and lovely individual but she had zero experience she was more of a companion to our Child. She was graduating and eventually left the company and we have decided not to continue therapy through this company as I asked the supervisor yet again to be upfront and honest and tell us of they were sending someone with experience to our house she admitted no they don't have anyone experienced in this office. So basically they use and a use your insurance and your kids will walk away unhelped. My child has a wonderful therapist now, very experienced as well and I'm struggling just to get this company to hand over discharge papers which should have been brought to our house from his previous therapist and the supervisor Sarah never returned my calls, handed me to Sam her supervisor who also told me he would mail it to me and here we are two weeks later no surprise no papers. First told they don't have discharge papers at all, to he will mail them and I should have gotten them two weeks ago to me driving to their office only to see that the reason no one is answering the phone is because she's chillin in the back with Sarah the supervisor. I got on the phone with Sam and told him to have those papers at the front desk by Monday next week and he said he would. Funny I get all my other mail but his somehow must of got lost. So, this place isn't honest, they want your insurance and they want help 19 year old build their resumes. If you want to seriously get your child effective help to work through trauma stay away from this place.

My experience with Milford Spectrum Health Clinic has been nothing short of frustrating and disheartening. It quickly became clear that their primary concern is profit, not patient care. From the moment you step into the clinic, it feels like you’re just another number, a source of revenue rather than a human being in need of help. The staff’s attitude towards patients is often cold and dismissive. It seems that genuine concern for a patient’s well-being is a rarity, replaced by a robotic approach focused on maximizing billable services. Instead of listening to concerns or addressing underlying issues, the focus is on pushing unnecessary tests, treatments, or follow-up appointments—all of which feel like ways to pad the bill rather than solve the actual health problems. What’s even more troubling is the lack of compassion. You’re made to feel like an inconvenience if you ask questions or seek clarity about your treatment. The clinic’s approach dehumanizes the patient, making it clear that their priority lies in money, not the people they’re supposed to help. If you’re looking for a healthcare provider that truly cares about your well-being, Milford Spectrum Health Clinic is not the place. It’s a money-driven operation that treats patients like less than human, and I would strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

For the Boston Location on 1500 dot Ave. . Horrible, invasive, cruel, and insensitive. If you're disabled and homeless, do not trust them. They will lead you astray. I am a new first responder with high functioning ADHD, depression, PTSD and a history of being abused, robbed and assaulted by people and shelters. I do not have a support system and was refered to (dumped onto) this agency via DMH. The staff really dropped the ball on me in terms of housing following an eviction I had went through due to a horror story of a roomate and job loss. Their shared indipendent low income apartments they offer are barely habitable, the residents they do have in those programs are not safe individuals who break rules and sublet the apartments illegally, harboring strangers, keeping children over that they are not supposed to have custody over. Staff knowingly allowed these things to occur, as well as the hygine of the buildings, not good or safe. I witnessed a male barely clothed walking around the messy apartment, looking at me in disgust on our tour. I did not feel safe with that male there. The staff member who toured the apartment with me claimed she had no idea who that was, which was even worse. That did not bode well for my safety as a female with a history of being a victim of DV, and assaulted by many people. I had been trying hard and being cooperative up until they started chastising me for my savings that I have from selling my broken vehicle, savings that will go towards back rent and vehicle repair debt I owed to others. So I won't even have my own money anyways. They combed through my bank account and were asking about every single little deposit, from private belongings I have sold on craigslist, to several month old unemployment checks I had recieved and then was no longer qualified to have. Constantly asking me for proof of a job that I had been fired from due to injury and illness from roughly 5 months ago, while I repeatedly explained to them that I had just gotten a new job as a first responder. They told me to go "buy a hotel room" and "go to a shelter" and were irrate with me for explaining I cannot afford a hotel, and I refuse to go to a shelter because I am a young female who has been sexually assaulted and robbed in homeless shelters before, I am incredibly afraid of that experience again and they were not sensitive to this fact at all. They told me to "prioritize housing" and leave my job early to get into a shelter's curfew... (I cannot, I am a first responder who must work a certain number of hours. Leaving early is patient abandonment.) The clientele I have seen revolve through here have always been devastated when Baycove could not do anything to help them, I witnessed a woman with her belongings in a trash bag repeatedly say "she cannot afford the low income apartment they put her in" so she had to go back to north carolina. I wish I had run away sooner. Do not trust them with your life. They are a strained resource and cannot get their act together. 12/16/25, To update a month later, I am still homeless. They held a "group meeting" with me where they criticized me for even having a small savings at all, once again, one of the staff smiled when I mentioned I refused a homeless shelter due to my past of being sexually assaulted, and then argued with me saying I am difficult for refusing a homeless shelter. They still cannot help me. They said there are no other shared apartments to put me in and have stopped returning my calls. They have effectively abandoned me. I am still homeless. FYI, they typically prioritize violent mentally ill substance using male clients who slam tables & demand to see case workers, if you have an appointment be prepared for some volatile dangerous homeless males to forcibly demand your appointment slot and be prepared for the staff to allow and enable that dangerous behavior from those unhygenic scary drug abusing clients over you. Even if you take a day off from work to go seek help. They prioritize the worst clients over you. Run.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Massachusetts?
When comparing providers in Massachusetts, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Massachusetts?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Massachusetts?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Massachusetts providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Massachusetts providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
