For five days, they withheld any information about my brother. They insist he admitted himself voluntarily, yet they refuse to let him go. Despite his symptoms being diagnosed by two separate neurologists as common, they are using them as justification to prolong his stay. Patients are treated by Physician Assistants who obviously have no training working with brain injuries. The CNO speaks down to family members and likes to give her name out daring you to report them.

The staff was professional and courteous. . However, ER room #4 held at near 80 degrees the entire time my friend was in there. Tried to adjust the thermostat and it did nothing but continue to blow hot. Staff was informed and stated “must be some crossed wiring somewhere”. Nothing was done to remedy the issue. Additionally, when you tell someone at 2:00pm that they’re being admitted, there is no excuse for still sitting here at 8:07pm. Multiple Nurses said they would bring her ice chips to help cool down, never happened.

I was contacted via telephone, which of course I was indisposed & missed the initial call. The customer service representative was kind enough to leave a voicemail & of which I returned the call, as promptly as I possibly could. Diane was the associate for MHSD who had initially reached out to me regarding discrepancies & concerns that are VITAL to my well-being & livelihood. Diane’s mannerisms aka “ Bedside manner” was courteous, empathetic, sympathetic, professional, soft-spoken, thorough, caring, sincere, accurate/logical & she was overall absolute godsend & pleasure to speak with regarding my problems & possible resolutions. She gave me descriptive & specific advice as to how to continue to achieve my goals. She even offered a follow up call the next day with more possible resources to aid my endeavor to Live a normal life again, since the loss of my husband. Thank you, Diane! From the bottom of my heart & soul core. And thank you MHSD for taking me into your program Providing me w the much needed help, That has been long overdo in my life. God bless y’all.♥️🙏

I've suffered from depression and anxiety since I was 12, I found caring choices in my 30s. Out of all the doctors I've seen in 20 years to try to help me Noone cared about me, they literally would just push the newest antidepressant on me and wouldn't listen to what I had to say. Jack has changed my life, I'm so grateful for him. He listens to me and and truly cares about my mental well-being. I wouldn't be where I am today without his compassion for his patients. I never knew what being human felt like until I met Jack and Marc, I can not thank them enough for helping me when no one else would take me seriously.

This place saved my son’s life! SAVED HIS LIFE! My son was there for one year 2024-2025 and he completed the programs, classes meetings and then lived at Genesis Sober Living. He would be in jail or dead if it wasn’t for the Sanctuary. Chris M and the court judge always worked with my son to make sure he stayed on track. So many others can succeed with this type of program. I wish Texas had something like this. Thank you to anyone that worked with my son. Communities need this support program. Thank you ! Thank you !

On 10-10-2025, I went to the ER because my neck pain, which is normally around a 4 or 5 on the pain scale, had shot up to a 10 and was unbearable. I already have a compression fracture in my C6 vertebra, so I was terrified something had gotten worse. I wasn’t there for pain meds — I just wanted diagnostic testing to figure out what was going on. While I was sitting on the side of the bed crying and trying to get comfortable, Dr. Tanya Mitchell came flying into the room, talking a mile a minute. The first thing she asked was why I was there — typical and expected — but the assumptions started immediately after. Her next question was why I didn’t have an orthopedic doctor (I do) and what kind of pain medicine he prescribes. I told her he doesn’t prescribe pain medication; he advised, and I agreed, that naproxen (prescribed by my PCP) and Tylenol (OTC) were appropriate for my chronic pain. Her response? “So did you come here for a refill of your naproxen?” Side note: If naproxen and Aleve weren’t the same thing, I wouldn’t have been so offended. If I wanted more naproxen, I would have gone to Walmart, not the ER. I was so shocked I didn’t even know what to say at first. I told her no, then tried to explain that I came because the pain was unbearable and I needed to know if the compression fracture had worsened or if there was a new problem with the implanted disc in my neck. But she just kept firing off questions — at least twenty in under a minute — and I could barely keep up. I was already in tears, and by that point, I was so overwhelmed and confused that I almost had a panic attack. She wasn’t listening; she was just running through her list. The whole time, she was questioning me like I was lying. She asked for my orthopedic surgeon’s name and kept saying she was going to call him — at least five different times — in a tone that made it sound like she didn’t believe me. I told her to go ahead and call him, but she just kept looking at me like I was making it all up. Then she said she was going to request my MRI report. I tried to explain that the radiologist was in the middle of adding an addendum to fix errors in the report, meaning she’d be getting outdated information, but she didn’t care. She went ahead and requested it anyway. Eventually, I managed to convince her to order a CT scan. When she came back later, she had a huge smile on her face and told me, “Your neck is fine.” Then she handed me discharge papers that said “musculoskeletal pain” and “anxiety disorder.” I couldn’t believe it. I know something’s wrong — I literally have a compression fracture according to an X-ray I had on September 30, 2025, at the North Louisiana Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic in Monroe. The whole experience made me feel humiliated, dismissed, and completely disrespected. Being treated like a drug seeker when you’re just desperate for help is one of the worst feelings in the world. It made my pain worse and was a complete waste of time and emotional energy. If the CT scan truly showed no compression fracture in my C6 vertebra, I’d suggest getting that machine serviced — stat. If anyone cares to verify what I’m saying, my orthopedic surgeon is Dr. Standley Crawford, and I see him at the clinic mentioned above. Update with Supporting Image: I’ve included a photo from my own CT scan (taken 10/10/2025), the same study where the radiology report stated “vertebral heights and alignment appear normal.” If you look at the area marked with the red arrow, you can clearly see the anterior portion of the C6 vertebra is significantly lower than the superior endplate, creating a wedge-shaped appearance. This is exactly what most radiologists would describe as a compression fracture. It’s extremely concerning that something this obvious on imaging could be dismissed as “normal alignment,” especially given the severity of my ongoing pain and the documented findings of implant subsidence.

This office made a false report to DCFS when I reported my non-verbal Autistic child’s LEGAL use of medical marijuana. DCFS has everything they need but this should’ve never happened. LDH is over this clinic AND our medical marijuana program. I am pursuing legal action because this report wasn’t made in good faith. If you’re a parent that uses LEGAL medical marijuana for your Autistic child, find another provider.

First off I have been with SCLHSA for almost 2 decades now. Don't expect to see a doctor or counselor on the first visit or after the first phone. I see a doctor, Dr Brice who is amazing and reads patient files and a counselor once a month. They can be overbooked and understaffed but do try to accommodate everyone. Yes I do have telehealth visits at the clinic as doctors are spread thin. I have never had any problems except for parking, which is no longer an issue, and people coming in thinking they can get seen right then and there with no consideration of others and yell at the workers who also have to worry about their own mental health.

It has been a really long experience but overall my child is doing 100% better than she was doing when she first started. We went through this company that sent 3 counselors to our house. One for me and one for Alex, one for me, and one for both of us together. It really opened my eyes to really see my children and stop screaming all the time. I am a better mother and he is a better daughter. Thank you St Mary Behavioral and all others places that have helped us to change for the better.

The doctor I saw, Kwame Buabeng, tried pushing his religious beliefs on me. I told him I don’t practice religion and don’t really believe in some sort of higher power. He began to explain that it wasn’t right and that I needed to believe in something. While it is everyone’s right to practice whatever religion or non-religion they would like, as a doctor it is NOT your place to try and push beliefs on your patients. Also, I expressed concerns with the medication he wanted to prescribe, saying that some of my family has been on the medication and I was worried that it could have the same effect on me. He blatantly disregarded every concern I had, not explaining a thing to me about the medication. Then I was walked to the front desk and pressured to schedule another appointment. I could be at my breaking point, at rock bottom, and I still would not schedule with them. DO NOT schedule with them. This is a big city; there are plenty of psychiatrists who will treat you better and who will actually care! This was the worst experience with a doctor of this kind, with the terrible bedside manner and the intimidating vibe that the place gives off. I will never recommend in a million years that a person go to this place.

My son was going here for a while. A day before his scheduled appointment they called and said they were no longer going to see him. They lied and said that no one gave permission for them to treat him then go on to say he needs further care beyond them which again was not true. Later that day they called back to say they will continue to see him. We go to his appointment that next day. All was good. That day they called and said they were not going to see him anymore and refer him elsewhere. So BEWARE They will just no longer see your child without a valid reason.

first appointment here and the social worker canceled on me the day of and apparently she was the only one that handles my situation in that entire building. The security guard was rude. I couldn't understand her and I politely asked for her to speak up a little so that I can follow her instructions better but she got annoyed. I tried to give this place a 2nd chance because when I went to the central city location a year ago, the lady was disinterested in me, showed lack of concern, and was eating the entire time. I was told they do certain tests there but when I went she told me something entirely different. I am so disappointed in this place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Louisiana?
When comparing providers in Louisiana, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Louisiana?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Louisiana?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Louisiana providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Louisiana providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
