I want to preface with saying I am over 3 years off my DOC😁 I found my way eventually NO THANKS TO THIS PLACE. This place is a dark spot on my recovery journey. I went here years ago and randomly remembered my experience there. It sucked so hard. It was very money driven. Ran us in circles over money. The therapist Bill specifically LOVED saying how affordable their rooms were in PHP when I literally went to a cheaper place before that. At that time I was court mandated and they often told me I wasn't forced to be there but would deny me when I would actually try to leave. I was shamed in group settings more than once by the toxic community present at the time regardless of the topic. I even experienced bullying and got an unfavorable nickname. I ended up relapsing while in PHP here(big surprise when this is the environment, right?) and the community got really critical of me like they aren't a bunch of addicts too. It's like that group of people got inside the bubble and forgot how addiction worked. I live in Philadelphia now with everything I could ever ask for and I am genuinely glad I will never have to set foot in or even see this building again👍

I truly appreciate the kindness of everyone here. My newest counselor is kind and has good intentions, but her advice felt too general for my specific challenges and didn’t fully account for the past incident that was incredibly similar to the current incident, which was triggering. I ended the session abruptly and had a mild panic attack afterward when I began feeling disregarded. Unfortunately, she’s my fourth counselor in a year in this service, and I never met my second counselor due to staff turnover.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge Freddy, the receptionist on the 3rd floor. He has been incredibly helpful every time I've visited, always going above and beyond to assist me. Due to some recent medical issues, I've been visiting the clinic frequently and Freddy has been a constant support throughout the entire process.

This community centre is an up to date and clean establishment. The staff are ALWAYS friendly and take time to answer questions. I have never had one bad experience in my 6 years of being a patient. My doctor, Dr. Farrell, is exactly what is needed of your doctor. He is patient, professional, courteous, and always asks if you have any other questions. I have never felt rushed. I trust him implicitly and will continue to visit him at this community center.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this practice. I originally had a wonderful provider here—my NP truly listened and supported me. Sadly, they left due to the company prioritizing policy over patient care, and I chose to leave as well. The new MD wanted to completely overhaul my treatment plan, not because it wasn’t working, but because it didn’t align with "company standards." Subsequent providers I saw were dismissive, condescending, and made me feel judged rather than supported. I’ve since switched to MindPath, where I’ve finally found compassionate, understanding care. I wish this practice had maintained the same patient-first values it once did.

I mistakingly wrote a good review after I was released from being there for two weeks in January and sent it in. I was also admitted there in April. I wrongly accused my husband of tampering with my medication. It was not him. This place is horrible. I was brought from SMH by police car and finger printed. I believe that my family paid off employees to mess with me. They knew things about me that I never divulged. I also believe that I was assaulted while I was sleeping. They played music from my phone own playlist without me having my phone. They had clips playing of my husband snoring. I was put in solitary with a male patient who exposed himself and was masturbating in front of me and when I notified the nurse, he laughed it off and they still kept me in the same location with him. I believe my family hacked into their system and could watch me via camera. They gave me benydryl after I had an adverse reaction to it. They tried dosing me with heavily sedated sleeping pills which I refused. The doctors spoke to me in front of other patients regarding my care. And the outpatient is no better. I begged for help and was not given any. I was spoken to disgustingly and sexually by Frank and other patients. The place was filthy, the food was disgusting, the water was cold in the showers. Do not send your family members here.

I can't say enough about how well I was treated by all the staff at the Friary Pensacola. From check in to check out. The staff are friendly, patient and go the extra mile to make things work. They all have such a positive attitude. My intake interview went smoothly and I felt very safe. My first visit with Eric Wilkinson gave me a feeling of hope that he understood my issues and and the following visits confirmed that. He recognized what I was dealing with and addressed it directly. It's gotten even better with each visit. Very comfortable. My experience with my therapist, Maria Rowan was eye opening because she addressed each of my concerns in a way I could understand. She's very approachable and really "knows her stuff"! She gave me time to talk, which felt so good. I loved that we discussed in depth the what, why and how my of my diagnosis. She gave me assignments that I could see and focus on then we reviewed them at the next visit. She explained the results I presented so I understood and could see a different picture of my feelings. I felt encouraged and so hopeful that I will be able to see and continue to learn how to live more positively, knowing more about myself. Thank you to ALL the staff staff who treated me so graciously. I really appreciated the reminder calls. I have two calendars and they often didn't match. Raina at check in/out is a jewel. I'll miss the visits because I always left feeling like I'd just been hugged! I hope the Lakeview Center will continue to be available to our area. They are a treasure!

I have been taking my medication for over a year now. I normally visit my psychiatrist every 3 months to update her on how the medication has been going, whether it is good or bad. Recently, my medication was running low, so I called my local pharmacy to request a refill. The pharmacy called back and advised that the request was denied because I haven't visited my doctor within months. Which had slipped my mind, due to a busy schedule. I called USF Health to schedule an appt. only to find out that my psychiatrist is no longer with USF Health and that I couldn't obtain my medication until I see a new doctor. I am upset about 3 things here! First, all patients under Dr. Laura Colon- Rivera should have been notified of her absence and placed under a new doctor! So that patients can continue their treatment! This was never done! Secondly, USF Health should have accepted my request to refill my medication, this is for my mental health! The medication is taken daily and improves my daily life. Thirdly, my follow up appointment with the new doctor should have been immediately! It shouldn't take a week or more to be seen. I am very disappointed in the professionalism and care that is not being given! Since I have not been able to take my medication, I am having withdrawal effects.

Dr. Vazquez has always been so kind and helpful during every single visit of mine. This location has always been easy to work with, from the very front desk all the way to the back where Dr. Vazquez is located. The lab(s) center is always easily accessible and not ever busy when I have been there. The lady back in the lab is so sweet! I always feel very welcome whenever I am at this location. The staff are well versed in customer service and make sure that you feel welcome and answer any questions you may have. I highly recommend Dr. Vazquez and this Community Health Centers location!

I have been using coastal for over 3 months through VA community care. Around the beginning of February they asked me to put a credit card on file which is a big no no for veterans getting their care paid for via community care. Friday 3/14 I had to cancel an appointment because I was sick and I lost my voice (they canceled the prior appointment on me). I messaged them and let them know I couldn’t talk. Whoever the male office personnel is called me 3 times expecting me to talk and respond after I told them twice I couldn’t talk. After the third time he called telling me I needed to log on anyway, he got a huge attitude, told me I will no longer get anymore appointments if I don’t put a credit card on file. Not to mention every single appointment I had was cut short. My last appointment was 23 minutes before my therapist cut me short. I’m now in the process of reporting this to our VA patient advocate (probably won’t hurt to throw their business name to BBB as well). Veterans or civilians, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. They’re about and only about the money. They don’t care about your mental health.

I'm fine with everyone , EXCEPT the receptionist, or the first person you talk to when you enter. This lady, is not only unprofessional, but rude and really doesn't want to help you, well that was my experience, she's an older Hispanic woman with glasses. I will make it a point to either have her trained or replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Florida?
When comparing providers in Florida, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Florida?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Florida?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Florida providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Florida providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
