Finding a real DBT facility was the best thing I’ve done for my mental health. I recommend this place to everyone battling BPD, PTSD and other Co-morbid illnesses. Michael has been the most compassionate therapist and truly saved my life. I’m a little over a year into treatment and I am a completely different person than when I walked through the door. I’m creating a life worth living and I owe it all to Tampa Bay DBT.

If I could give the people I interacted with a negative 5, I would. I have ARFID due to having a true, physical medical issue called gastroparesis, so I can't eat. I asked the gentleman if there were programs for people like me who don't have body image issues, but just anxiety because I physically get ill when I eat. I told him that I was sorry, but group therapy for people with anorexia or bulimia would not be beneficial for me as there is an issue I have with them. I tried explaining that it's apples to oranges and that I want to gain weight, but I'm physically disabled and can't eat while anorexic and bulimic people willfully starve themselves and it quite frankly irritates me that people would throw away that normal capability. He got extremely rude and said I needed compassion for those people, but I asked.. "Where is the compassion for me?" You're wanting to stick someone who wants to gain weight with gastroparesis with people who intentionally choose to engage with an eating disorder. He said I needed to open my heart more to them, but maybe y'all should offer programs for people that don't need or even want to be in group therapy with people they can't relate to. I have a physical disability and limitation, so I couldn't relate or understand. He was so rude and condescending. I'm sorry people with GI problems don't deserve compassion either.

If you're coming for just detox, make sure you clarify with admissions your start and end date. I was told 7 days but it ended up being 8 days totals thinking it would be 7. I told my job 7 days i'd be gone and had to AMA on my 7th day to not lose my employmentm. Other than that this place is great for detox. The techs were nice and comforting until I told them I have to leave.

My children were long time patients a little over a year. My children developed a very strong bond with there therapist. My daughter got COVID and I had to cancel my appointment which I did within the timeframe required. I had to cancel another appointment due to a work emergency out of town and canceled again within the time required. I received an email that we were discharged from the practice. I was shocked due to the fact that I cancelled within the time required. I sent an email pleading with the staff to please not discharge us as my children would be devastated and explained that I am a single mother and my apologies and assuring we would never miss another appointment. We were told no and they were discharged. So disappointing that this practice believes money is more important then the well-being of there patients. My kids are devastated.

CHI Doris Ison Health Centre has a very professional atmosphere. They are not kidding when they say it’s everything you need in one place. That place is amazing and CHI as a whole has been a God send to me. I mainly have been a patient at the West Perrine Centre for over 10 yrs now and I have never met a receptionist or a nurse or a doctor that wasn’t very friendly and helpful. My doctors have all been great. They care about helping me get better and not just treating the symptoms. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Just had my first, initial visit, I found this place because they came into my room at the hospital and pretty much begged for patients. It’s a nice place but overall customer service is very poor, the nurse was very dismissive and you could tell she didn’t want to be there, the front desk as well. Dr. Gigi wasn’t the most personable Dr either. She was pretty rude and gave us the most basic response to our questions. I asked for information on a vaccine she said she’d print me out a pamphlet to read… she could not wait to leave the room and it’s sad they had only a few people there when I visited and still the attention to patients is lacking. My daughter did not like to be touched by Dr Gigi and I could feel the energy in the room just being very hostile and dismissive. Overall not a good experience and transferring my care as soon as possible. Like I said this was not my first choice but they came to my hospital room when I was admitted and I figured it would make things easier to just go with them as I hadn’t had time to search pediatricians. But I wish I would’ve did a little more homework on them. I did not like the experience at all.

I can honestly say that choosing Cynthia Hernandez for my teenage son's therapy was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Over the past few months, Cynthia has truly made a positive impact in his life. He feels safe, heard, and comfortable talking to her, and he actually looks forward to their sessions. She even checking in on me LOL. Her kindness, dedication, and support have been such a blessing. I can't thank her enough for all she’s done for my son. Truly, thank you, Cynthia, you’re wonderful!

Dr. Figueroa and his staff are exemplary in every facet of operating a Psychiatric office. From Leslie's smiling face and voice at the other end of the phone or greeting you when you walk in to the office to Jean, who is always so pleasant, handling any medications you may have been prescribed by the dr, I always leave the office feeling so much better than when I arrived. Dr. Figueroa listens and hangs on every word you say to him with care, dignity, amd concern. He is amazingly intelligent and I can always count on him for good solid concrete advice with medical happenings and life in general. If he is not aware of a medical provider you are speaking of, he will do his due diligence to look them up and research as much as possible. He also knows of new procedures and medications to help your medical diagnosis. He is one of the best doctors I have seen, worker's comp or not, in my journey through life. Thank you Dr. Figueroa and staff; you have definitely made a positive impact in my life. (Thank you for also welcoming Donald into your office and loving him too!)

This environment demands proactivity and a strong drive for self-development. Success here is contingent upon individual initiative and a commitment to continuous learning. The work involves direct engagement with challenging situations, fostering significant personal and professional growth. Individuals can expect to encounter moments of difficulty and triumph, ultimately gaining a clear understanding of their accomplishments. This setting serves as a unique training ground for individuals with unconventional professional backgrounds, often those with direct or near-direct experience as service recipients. I benefited significantly from the guidance of exceptional leaders, including AJ and Mr. White, who were instrumental in developing essential skills for navigating this demanding environment. While challenging, my time here provided invaluable experience and resilience that have been crucial for my subsequent endeavors.

Worst place I’ve been to in my entire life. Never have I ever been treated so insanely terrible in my whole life. Staff laughs at patients. Gets meds wrong. Lies. Refuses to look you in the eye. And one staff would not take their headphones out. Wouldn’t stop watching YouTube and wouldn’t even talk to ANYONE. Shut this place down immediately. The only nice person here is the psychiatrist. Holds you against your will even if you’re safe and have already been there for days. THE PSYCHIATRIST can even tell you you’re safe to leave and they lie and refuse to let you leave even with family demanding them to let you o ur. The place leaves you worse off than you came in. The schedule is fake. There are no therapist. They don’t even let you heal whatsoever in any way. They don’t let you talk to family. They force you to leave the dining hall. They treat you like literal animals. This violated rights so much it’s insane. They do nothing whatsoever to help you and all they want is the money. Get better staff who cares. Do better. Xoxo a patient who just wanted help 🩷

The facility might not be perfect, but they do a fantastic job at targeting your actual traumas and deep issues so that you can grow and heal into your best self. I don't think many mental health facilities would check all the boxes and tools I needed to recover which includes inner child work, trauma work, spirituality through yoga, emotional mindfulness and individual therapy.

Horrible horrible horrible I'm contacting the BBB or whomever I have to re how much they let my daughter down. Triggering anxiety, leaving her to fend for hersher, not completing the paperwork needed, leaving blanks on official forms. After almost 3 mths of "treating" her not 1 thing was changed to the treatment she was getting before which clearly didn't work or I wouldn't have began going here. I would recommend not having your child see Ella.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Florida?
When comparing providers in Florida, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Florida?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Florida?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Florida providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Florida providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
