I’ve been to a few rehabs, and this was by far the best experience I’ve ever had. It was the first place where I didn’t feel the urge to leave right after detox. The staff made a huge difference—they were welcoming, supportive, and genuinely cared about my recovery. I truly felt like I was there to heal, not like I was being punished or confined. The program itself is excellent. The classes and therapy sessions are meaningful, and they take clients to AA and NA meetings around LA, which really helped me stay connected. They take you on outings on Saturday and Sunday my favorite was yoga and sound healing on the beach the session led by a practitioner certified in Bali. The food was also incredible—Diane and Chris are amazing chefs, and every meal felt thoughtful and nourishing. Overall, I left feeling happy, supported, and like I had finally found what I needed in my recovery journey. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone I loved and anyone in general looking for real healing.—

Fantastic facility. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that the team genuinely cares—not just about stabilization, but about long-term recovery and quality of life. What really stands out is the balance between strong clinical structure and supportive housing. The program provides consistent, well-run groups alongside meaningful one-on-one support, so clients aren’t just going through the motions—they’re actually doing the work and progressing. The extended care model is a huge advantage, giving people the time and stability needed to build real momentum before stepping back into everyday life. The housing is clean, comfortable, and well-managed, creating a safe and structured environment that reinforces accountability without feeling restrictive. There’s a strong sense of community, and staff are present, engaged, and responsive. This is an ideal program for anyone stepping down from residential or needing more support than traditional outpatient. They do a great job bridging that gap and helping clients build a solid foundation for lasting recovery.

My experience at Ambience Recovery was absolutely incredible. Each and every staff member went out of their way to make me feel safe, supported, and comfortable. Special thanks to my case manager Lucky, my therapist Lauren, BHT staff (including Lupita, Chuck, Henry, and Dante), and Nursing staff (Nicole, Paul, and Eric) for taking care of my needs and keeping me company on the tough days. I leave this facility optimistic and full of hope for my sober journey that lies ahead. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need their time of need. Thank you all, again!

Redeemed Mental Health was truly a godsend during one of the most tumultuous times in my life. I entered Redeemed after my first mental health facility abruptly closed and was in desperate need of finding a new Place to continue my therapy. Dr. Andrea Wagner welcomed myself along with other Displaced patients from our formal facility With open arms. It was an extremely easy transition with the exceptional staff and dynamic therapists That work at the facility. The setting was family like, Professional, safe and non-judgmental. My recovery journey would not be on the path it is without the guidance and compassion I received at Redeemed.

The house is always immaculate, the food is gourmet prepared by a chef and there are Saturday outings. The case worker and therapist goes above and beyond their job requirements! I've been here multiple times and every time it has been 5 stars. Great doctors and nurses. Not only are they on top of their game and professional, they are extremely friendly and enjoyable. Dr. Kim knows her stuff and Dr. Crandall is an awesome surgeon. The nursing staff made my stay feel like I was on a semi-vaca and some pretty funny ladies. Top notch all around. Except the cafeteria food, we got to step that game up CHOMP.

If you're searching for a residential treatment facility for detox or a longer-term recovery program—whether it's 30 days or more—I wholeheartedly recommend Mending Bridges to anyone seeking help. If you're ready to break free from the disease or substance that's holding you back from being your true self, this is a place worth considering. They genuinely tailor their care to meet your needs and provide exceptional support throughout your journey. Most of the staff are compassionate and truly understand what you're going through. For those who care about the details, they offer a pack of cigarettes every two days and accommodate special dietary needs. After the initial 7-day detox period, we were able to attend community meetings and Sunday church services. During my stay, I felt incredibly comfortable—like I was truly at home. They treated me like family. The group sessions were consistently uplifting, welcoming, and supportive. I pray I never have to go through this experience again, because I now know I can live a fulfilling life without substances. I don’t plan on going back. A heartfelt thank you to JB, Miguel, and Yessenia for giving me the chance to grow, and to Olga, Scott, Ben, and Daniel—your care helped me become a better version of myself. I’m proud to say I’m sober and free.

Knowing that you need to go to a residential treatment facility is frightening, but Oro House makes it as comfortable as it can be under the circumstances. Yes it feels like a resort, but that makes it so that you can focus on you - why you need treatment, how to get better, and how to stay sober. If you're determined to beat addiction, the staff is determined to support you. Instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all 12-step program on you, the variety of therapies gives you lots of possibilities for growing as a person, you can find what works for you, and maybe learn more about yourself than you expected. I wish no one needed alcohol and substance abuse treatment, but for anyone that does Oro House is an amazing place to get the help you need.

If you want to Get the tools you need to change your life and better yourself, the please come to the Youth and Family Institute. DBT changed my life. I always thought of therapy as a bit of a joke until this. After just 3 months of DBT I started feeling lighter to the point where my friends and family noticed and pointed it out. I got the validation I needed, plus insights to challenge myself and get healthier, in body and mind. Marcus was incredibly wise, kind, open-minded, patient and I always felt validated no matter how trivial my problem seemed to me.

I cannot say enough good things about this detox facility and the impact it had on my life. Walking in, I was scared, exhausted, and honestly unsure if I even wanted to be there. From the moment I arrived, the staff treated me with dignity, compassion, and zero judgment. That alone made a huge difference. The medical team was incredibly attentive and professional. Detox is not easy — physically or mentally — but they monitored me closely, managed my withdrawal symptoms safely, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. They explained everything clearly so I knew what was happening with my body, which helped reduce a lot of my anxiety. The nursing staff and techs were patient, kind, and always available. No matter what time of day it was, someone was there to listen or help. They didn’t just treat the addiction; they treated me like a human being who mattered. That kind of care is rare and meaningful. The counselors and group facilitators were knowledgeable and genuinely invested including heather, Jp, Ramon, Ollie, Kayla, Sina, Rafa, and Jessica .The groups were structured, supportive, and eye-opening. I learned about the root causes of addiction, coping skills, relapse prevention, and how to start rebuilding my life. I didn’t feel like just another number — I felt seen. The facility itself was clean, organized, and safe. Having a stable and calm environment made it easier to focus on healing. Meals were consistent, and the routine helped bring structure back into my life. Most importantly, this place gave me hope when I didn’t have any left. Detox is just the first step in recovery, but it’s a critical one — and this facility made that step possible for me. If you or a loved one are struggling and need a safe place to begin, I would strongly recommend this program. I’m grateful for the care, professionalism, and humanity shown here. It truly made a difference in my recovery journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
