We’ve had a great experience working alongside this treatment center. Their team consistently provides excellent client care, strong communication, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals through recovery. Their outpatient program is well-structured, supportive, and clearly focused on long-term success for clients. We truly value the partnership and would highly recommend them to anyone seeking quality care and professional support.

You will get to know everyone here quickly and learn to love them like family. The owners and staff all make themselves very available and easy to speak to. Staff members like John, Jason, CJoe, and Lisa, make it a great, comfortable place to be. They ask the hard questions that make you dig deep. Participate and keep a positive attitude and you will get a lot out of this program. I definitely learned a lot about myself here and learned how to be happy with ME, which is crucial in sobriety. They also have boxing and meditation here and the food is good :).

My name is Steven Garcia, I’ve never written a review about anything but this place changed my entire life and future. I was 17 when I went to hillcrest treatment facility and heavily addicted to substances. As soon as I stepped inside I was welcome in with open arms. We had fresh meals made daily, fitness, and as well as other activities to get my natural dopamine back up, I made lifelong friendships and lifelong heart touching memories. It was the best time of my life and I stayed sober ever since then and I am 20 now, I bought my own car and I will be moving out into my own apartment soon. The caregivers and therapists and everyone involved was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wasn’t able to keep in contact with them due to rules but I think about the caregivers, therapists and my experience that I had there every single day, it was so touching that every day I strive to do better because I think about all the people that helped me at hillcrest, eventually if possible I would even like to get a job there to help kids like I was helped. It was the most amazing heart warming experience I’ve had in my entire life and I would recommend this place a million times to anyone. If anyone from hillcrest that remembers me sees this, thank you for changing my life I truly wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if I never met all of you.

I got therapy from here for one year. it helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. I met my challenges with more faith and knowledge of self. My therapists guidance was essential to avoid hopelessness, depression and dysfunction. So in effect I was given my life back for a price I could manage - what a blessing they exist because they really do help alot of folks be better people.

I wish I could give Richmond area multi services 5 stars. Steven taka is great, and I feel like he has really helped me a lot. So I am biased, just like any one else. Araceli is wonderful too, and there are so many black and brown people (and other people that I haven’t met yet) who are younger than me me really doing amazing work to help their peers. Just a little bit unrelated, but there are men’s circles (like the one that might still be happening at “college of San Mateo,” I’m not sure) and the men’s circle at “mystic flora apothecary” and so many other places that are run by kind and caring people. However, I don’t feel like Peter hsu, program coordinator for “career connections” and other programs, is doing a good job. I would tell Peter this, directly, but I’m done. I don’t want to explain my struggles as a black person. 2 black people, who are younger than me, dropped out of the “career connections” program because they probably felt like Peter hsu did not understand their life experience. Steven taka has been very understanding, and so I really appreciate Steven’s kindness and understanding. If people were to have an issue with Steven, I would hope that they feel like they could talk to him or someone else before posting a Google review. But with Peter hsu, I feel like he is just prejudiced towards me, and I’m concerned that he is prejudiced towards other people. Richmond area multi services was created so that people of all ages could receive mental health support from someone who speaks their language and understands their culture. My mother is from Japan and it probably would have helped her years ago, if she had a chance to talk to someone like Steven taka who speaks Japanese and understands Japanese culture (even if he wasn’t born in Japan). Everyone deserves to be understood. People aren’t supposed to be put on trial in their everyday lives and judged by people who aren’t their peers. There are so many things that I could say, because I want people to receive mental health support - by any means necessary, as Malcolm x says - even if that means going through nonprofits (until people can have their own people run programs and don’t have to rely on nonprofits). I’m not gonna write any more in this Google review for now, but I definitely want to talk to Steven taka and other people at Richmond area multi services whom are understanding and compassionate. If only more people were like Steven taka and other understanding, kind people.

The staff here has been absolutely amazing from day one. The care and compassion they have for their patients is what made me not want to leave this facility. Each has their own story, and are willing to share, to help their clients fell at home here. There is more than plenty of food to eat. The Facilities department keeps the house not only functional and comfortable. Staff is available 24/7 to be able to talk to. Thank you everybody!

I have not been to this location yet. Was referred by friend. Google Maps has the listing as FAB Riverside Corporate Office. It is not readily recognized at the address either. You have to reference Google Map Directory of Building Occupancy. Not only that, FAB Housing refers to FABricated Housing Riverside. Totally misleading. The phone number is accurate, BUT the automated system (which does say FAP, thank goodness) could be more user friendly and more helpful as I don't know which selection is the one for me. A good start would be to say Foothill AIDS Project instead of FAP.

My daughter has been staying at Evolve for a couple months now and we are truly grateful for the excellent care she has received. We are relieved to know that she is safe and learning so many fantastic coping skills. Her nurse, Alexandra, has gone above and beyond to advocate for her and take incredible care of my daughter. She is so kind in her approach and so thorough in all that she does. She makes my daughter feel at ease and comforts her when needed. We couldn't ask for a better nurse!! My daughter loves all the staff at Evolve and says they all make her feel comfortable and supported. We can't recommend this place enough.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
