Pacific Center for Human Growth, located at 2130 Center Street, Suite 200, Berkeley, California, is the oldest LGBTQIA+ center in the Bay Area and the third oldest in the nation. Since 1973, it has provided culturally responsive mental health services and community support to LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC individuals and their families. The center operates the only sliding scale mental health clinic in Alameda County specifically for these communities, offering accessible care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
The center’s mental health programs include individual, family, and group therapy, psychological assessments, and intake evaluations, with a focus on trauma-informed care and social justice frameworks. Specialized peer-to-peer support groups and empowerment programs help clients address depression, isolation, identity-related stress, and other behavioral health challenges. Through facilitated workshops, proactive problem-solving strategies, and culturally competent counseling, Pacific Center for Human Growth fosters resilience, emotional well-being, and social connection for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC individuals of all ages.
