Dr. Paul Hayward is NOT a good doctor. Crazy how terrible of an experience I had here. He diminished my condition by saying multiple times “I don’t want to diminish your condition, but…” then continued to diminish my condition. At the same time he told me to not be optimistic about getting better and that I would just have to live with my symptoms.

Complete lack of support and terrible experience. The Obgyn department never answers the phone. If you leave a message, they will not call you back. Even if they do answer, they never follow through with getting the correct information back to you. I called for a Dr. note almost one week after my procedure and was told I could not receive one until my POST-OP appointment?! Which couldn’t be scheduled until 2 WEEKS AFTER the surgery. I’ve also asked twice for a prescription refill and have received 0 follow up.

If I could give them zero stars I would. The receptionist was very RUDE. I was calling for a family member and they cut me off before I even got a sentence out. Where is the aloha?? I will NEVER go here, and will tell everyone what terrible service you receive. Especially with this being a MENTAL HEALTH clinic you'd think they'd be a little more professional on the phone while speaking to patients whom might be in a depressive state. How ridiculous!

I had a very disappointing experience with this psychiatrist's office. After being placed on a 3-month waitlist, my appointments were rescheduled twice due to issues on the doctor's end. Ultimately, I was informed that they were not accepting new patients and my appointment was canceled altogether.

I just came across this post and in California an LMHC is the same as an LPCC. It's a Master's level degree. A PhD trains for 4-5 years, passes comprehensives, writes a dissertation which most often is testing a hypothesis, with a comprehensive literature review, the experiment, results and statistics to address it's validity. This has to pass a committee. Then when the PhD is awarded there is often more supervision. It's 3000 hours of supervision in total to become a PhD. In California it is the license and number which must be displayed on a business card e.g. Alice Miller, PhD, PSY 11111. It is unethical to indicate by omission or commission the LICENSE that is earned.

They are ridiculous. They just got a huge federal grant to help people and they don’t help. You need to be finally stable to get help! Make that make sense?!! As a parent that is not on any snap or section 8 , working and having a hardship from losing my child as well on top of having a hard time finding a full time job. That is not enough income to qualify. I’m actually not sustainable she said. Unreal after being nosey of my jobs and my situation she then tells me my bills are about the same as my income. What a joke that’s why people like me needs help. I wouldn’t be asking if i had 2-3 months saved up . They need to get investigated.

I've been going to the comp for over 15 years both clinics and a few ER visits for both myself and my daughter.. overall I haven't really had any issues except for as others have stated as well the rude receptionist. Seriously some people should not answer phones. I see Dottie fale who has been absolutely great thus far always responds quickly to issues I may have. Pediatric clinic saw Dr nesbitt who has also been amazing. The walk in clinic at waianae Mall however is horrid as well as nanakuli clinic their desks staff are generally ignoring patients talking amongst themselves. They left my daughter in a room for over an hour. She went in for fever not feeling well she wound up having COVID she said they treated her like she was a lepar granted no one wants COVID but that's why we're using masks in hospitals

I have mixed reviews about this establishment. I have been seeing an individual therapist through the Mililani Psychology Group for over 2 years (Nov 2022) and I truly appreciate Melanie Gottlieb because she has been available to me, assisted me through extremely difficult times, and has supported me through several changes in my life.

I had an appointment to get an emergency food box with my case manager from this company. My case manager was over an hour and a half late for our appointment. Then he tells me that he can't take me to the food pantry. He seems like a nice guy. I never think he would ever purposely try to hurt me, but just when I was dependent on him for something he couldn't do anything about it and the blame was on me. He also assigned blame to me for not having more food. There's more I could review on, but I'm confused now.

As a former "patient" of this "medical facility" I STRONGLY urge anyone struggling with mental health needs to seek help elsewhere. The staff here treated me like a criminal. I was left in a concrete cell block with big metal doors and a small plastic box as a bed. The staff repeatedly denied me any form of human contact or even an explanation as to why I was being treated that way. Cruel and inhumane treatment of someone who just needed help. Honestly I hope this place burns to the ground. Save yourself, this place will make you suicidal.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in Hawaii?
When comparing providers in Hawaii, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in Hawaii?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in Hawaii?
Yes. Mental Health US includes Hawaii providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all Hawaii providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
