I’m not very happy with my care right now and the provider isn’t listening. I’ve been on a high dose of benzodiazepines for 20 years and I was told this would be a 2 year taper. They’re taking me down by 1milligram every week! Putting my life in danger I have had 5 grand mal seizures for this same reason. I so disappointed I thought I had found a place that took me serious as I can DIE from tese kolopin withdrawals! They want I mean are going to take me down another MG this next visit. I feel like I’ve been set up for failure not success! The doctors won’t even be transparent with me when I asked when they would hold the dose instead of answering the question she said “I donno we’ll see when we get there.” If they follow this pattern this isn’t a 2 year taper its 5 weeks!!

I am very thankful for my Stand family. Stand has helped me for everything with my son and myself. I got safe house, they prepared me to go to transitional housing to start my process to become independent. For the time it was needed they provided me with food. Stand made me stronger and lifted me up when I fell down. They connected me with a good attorney. The people who works at the shelter Crisis line advocates and Case workers , everyone were nice and kind with me because I respect them and they respectful people too. I am free now and safe got a voucher through Stand. I learned English I' graduated College. All I got is good hearted human beens that want to help others I have received services from 2019 2022 and I am happy living a free life because they gave me the opportunity to be part of Stand family. I utilized this time and their efforts to support me to be better in life and I thank God for it and of course Stand too for accepting me. Is important to know that you have to respect their time because Stand workers do it with love but sometimes people is not prepared for that neither know what love looks like .

Mountain Valley helped me with a lot of my issues and insecurities. The staff are very understanding and helpful. My therapist Daniel was very caring and listened to my problems and helped me learn new ways to calm myself down. My favorite staff was Carl Hoag because he understood what I was going through and made sure I wasn't alone. The ranch experience was alright but there are some things they could change like the food and average age of a house because I was in a bunk with four 13 years old and a 12 year old. I don't think that is right. Jesse Kinseth the west teacher was very diligent about me doing my work and would help me when I asked and wouldn't get mad when I messed up.

STAY AWAY!!! The treat you as a number and someone to make $$$. The 2 psychologists I had were just there to get their job done and to get paid. Both psychologists I had truly didn’t gave me any EFFECTIVE therapy, such as, giving me advice, bouncing off ideas and setting goals, giving me CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism, or helping me understand better how my mental illnesses or childhood trauma effect my current life. Generally, I felt I was talking to a WALL most of the time.

Not a good mental health center if your looking for mental health services. Terrible therapy services with incompetent staff. Had two therapists who attended me, one after the other, and both were terrible, each in their own way. Don't recommend, the therapists just see their clients as a quick cash grab.

I came here between 8th-9th grade. I was very nervous about it but wanted to give it a try. However, I left every session feeling worse so eventually I just pretended like I was getting better and even faked my answers on that test thing they gave me towards the end so i’d be able to stop going. I’m now almost 20 and still have unresolved issues, I never felt like I could connect with the person I was going to, not to mention the fact that they were supposed to keep our conversations private but still ended up telling my mom what i’d say during sessions.

Dr.Jung is very unprofessional and personally intrusive. The women here at stepping stones are extremely gossipy and childish. I referred a client of mine here and will never make another reference again. They illegally talked about my clients personal home life, mental health and other things I will not even repeat. I will be reporting the women, including Dr.Jung, for divulging personal experiences with clients and clients personal history and mental health as well. Please, if you care about you patients or clients like I do my own, refer them to somewhere else.

During therapy sessions, I often felt interrupted when sharing, which made it hard to express myself. I frequently had to remind the therapist about what was happening in my life because their suggestions were sometimes triggering or impractical, creating additional stress. I rarely felt truly heard, and many sessions left me feeling more triggered and unsettled than before.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I compare mental health providers in California?
When comparing providers in California, consider location relative to where you live or work, the specific services offered, levels of care available (such as outpatient, intensive outpatient, or inpatient), therapy approaches used, conditions treated, hours of operation, whether a website is available, accreditation status, and reviews when listed. Not all details are available for every provider, so it can help to check each facility listing directly.
What should I ask before contacting a provider in California?
Before reaching out to a provider, it helps to know what you are looking for. Consider asking about current appointment availability, accepted insurance plans and self-pay or sliding-scale options, whether telehealth appointments are offered, which specific services are currently active, and whether the provider has experience treating your particular concern. Availability and services can change, so confirming details directly with the facility is recommended.
Are all services listed on Mental Health US available at every facility?
No. Services vary by facility and may change over time. The information shown in each listing reflects what was available when the record was created or last updated. Always confirm current service availability, hours, and intake procedures directly with the provider before visiting or calling.
Can I find both mental health and substance use treatment providers in California?
Yes. Mental Health US includes California providers that offer mental health services, substance use treatment, or both. You can use the available filters to narrow results by treatment needs, or review individual facility pages for more detailed information about the services and conditions each provider treats.
What if I cannot find the right provider in my city?
If you do not find a suitable provider in a specific city, try broadening your search by browsing all California providers using the statewide view, or use the filter dropdowns to search by condition treated, therapy type, or level of care without entering a specific city. You can also browse nearby city pages to see providers in surrounding communities.
