The Behavioral Health Resource Center in Portland, Oregon is a low-barrier day center and shelter providing essential support for adults experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, particularly those living outside. Open year-round, the facility offers a safe, inclusive environment where individuals can access basic necessities such as showers, laundry, restrooms, and a space to rest. Peer support, skill-building activities, and problem-solving services are integrated throughout the center to help individuals navigate their recovery journey and access longer-term care.
The center includes a 33-bed low-barrier shelter and a 19-bed 90-day bridge housing program to support individuals in transitioning from crisis or homelessness to more stable living situations. Programs are trauma-informed, peer-driven, and tailored to meet the unique needs of men, women, gender non-conforming individuals, and LGBTQ+ populations. Residents receive individualized housing and recovery plans, life skills training, documentation assistance, and access to community referrals, creating pathways to stability and wellness while maintaining a supportive, inclusive environment for all.
